Chapter 399 The Trap Set For Victor 2
However, these Magi have been pursuing them for a long time over a long distance, even managing to keep up with the speed of the giant shadow wolves.
Without a doubt, these people had been well prepared. It was a trap.
At least that was what Victor thought.
In fact, the attack would have been successful if not for one slight unforeseen occurrence.
As they journeyed to the Iron Back Pack, they altered their route slightly to avoid a certain battlefield after gaining new intelligence about the undead coming back to life there.
It was for this reason that they managed to appear behind the ambush.
They had gone with their own ship, but because of the ambush, they alighted their destroyed ship and moved through the land on four legs.
This event happened at the dead of night, and since that time, they have been running Helter Skelter.
Fortunately, the other werewolves did not pursue them but instead went after the pirate group that had managed to take the Eye of the Primordial Beast.
These Magis had obviously prepared for a very long time; they pursued with broad bat-like wings on their backs.
There were exactly twelve of them.
This was an entire coven.
Werewolves and Magi did not get along with one another.
After all, Magi used negative magic drawn from other supernatural creatures to be called their own.
Werewolves, on the other hand, were people of bloodline.
Their power rested in their blood and, therefore, in their honor.
For this reason, they were very proud people.
If not for that particular reason, they would not even see these Magi as trouble on their journey.
But then again, their existing reputation had blinded them to the reasoning that they could also suffer such a fate as an ambush.
If this were in the past, when the pack was at its strongest, this would not have happened.
Nevertheless, all that is in the past now. All they could do was hurry to safety.
This plan had been given very careful thought.
At least, that was what Victor and Moses were sure of.
After all, the ones that were in pursuit of them were the Magi.
If it were the werewolves, the natural speed of these wolves would have left them far in the dust.
The \'Shadow\' in their name was not just for show; it was a valiant part of their nature.
Even the Magi that pursued them could barely keep up with their speed.
However, that did not stop them from continuing the pursuit.
Even though the negative magic consumption was huge,
As the wolves sped up through the valley, the Magi sent balls of dark flames.
*Boom~ Boom*
Explosions nearly got Victor; however, Moses, with his incredible maneuvering skills, did very well as he darted through the land.
Unfortunately, another blast from his side met its target.
*Whoosh!*
He managed to dodge it, but it still sizzled against his fur, burning his forearm.
Nevertheless, an obstruction such as this needed to do a better job.
Moses was not going to back down.
As a guard, the safety of the Alpha\'s bloodline rested on his shoulder.
He could not fail.
Gritting his teeth, he persevered.
Six more blasts came. Unfortunately, he was not able to dodge all of them.
However, he did not even need to, as the other werewolf guards running by his side, keeping up with his speed, immediately jumped in to receive the attacks that Moses could not take.
"No!" Victor screamed.
These werewolf guards had been with him for the longest time, and ever since the attacks from the Magi, they had been jumping in to take the hit.
This was how a good number of them died.
After all, there were only so many hits that one could take from those blasts.
The armor did an incredible job against magic, but over time of consistent attacks, its durability had greatly fallen.
The negative fire stung against their skin, enveloping them in dark negative fire like barbecue meat.
Victor could even smell the sweet, meaty smell from the bodies of his comrades as they fell, never to rise again.
The sight of which broke and bled his heart.
Although he was young, around the age of sixteen, he was already considered an adult.
His tears fell from the sides of his eyes as he gritted his teeth hard.
It was only as a result of common sense that he did not attack the Magi.
After all, they pursued from high up in the sky.
Such a fight against a land-based creature such as the werewolf would not be a fair one.
In fact, the possibility of victory was very slim.
Of course, this has also been well thought out by the pursuers, taking into account that flight would be the only weak point against creatures of the land that excel at speed.
With the recent deaths, the werewolf guards, with the addition of Moses, were just two.
Just ahead was the territory of the Giant Shadow Werewolf Pack.
The Magi looked at one another.
They all nodded at their next course of action.
After all, the werewolves were not supposed to make it back home.
In the air, their mouths moved as they cast their incantations.
A big ball of negative fire, several times bigger than the little they had been striking the wolves with, formed in the air.
This was obviously a good amount of their power that they were putting into this attack.
Victor saw this and frowned. "Moses! They are casting some kind of spell. It\'s a big one. We will not make it."
Moses looked far ahead.
He could already see the first outpost in the distance.
Werewolves had incredible senses. He knew that a team there must have seen them by now and was rushing to their aid.
All he had to do was make sure that they made it to that point.
Yes! That was all they needed.
"Young Master Victor, how many more vials do you have left?" Moses asked...
