Chapter 32

Chapter 32

As soon as the final bell rang, students flooded out of the exam hall. Ji Chu searched the crowd for Jiang Yan\'s figure, inexplicably feeling anxious.

Until a classmate from the same exam room as Jiang Yan came panting to him, saying, "Jiang Yan fainted and was taken to the ambulance! You should go find her."

Useless flowers were discarded amidst the chaos, scattering all over the floor.

...

After fainting, Jiang Yan regained consciousness.

A familiar cold voice echoed in her mind, the system: "Task completion detected."

"Then why don\'t you transfer me to the next world?" Jiang Yan asked.

"Due to certain reasons, this world needs to maintain normal operations, so you need to disappear in a normal way," the system replied officially.

"So, you want me to die from illness," Jiang Yan glared at the system accusingly, yet felt indifferent deep down, for this tactic seemed all too familiar.

When Jiang Yan woke up, Ji Chu was staring at her in a daze.

The liquid dripping into the back of her right hand felt uncomfortable, so Jiang Yan pushed him with her left, "Daydreaming?"

Looking at her lively expression, Ji Chu slowly smiled, gently explaining, "I thought I was hallucinating."

As if snapping out of a trance, Ji Chu stood up, seemingly at a loss for words and could only stare at her.

It wasn\'t until Jiang Yan said she wanted water that he fumbled to mix a cup of warm water and brought it to her lips.

"I can drink it myself..."

"I want to feed you," Ji Chu said resolutely.

Although he didn\'t seem to show much emotion outwardly, Jiang Yan felt like he was about to cry.

The system needed to transfer her to the next world quickly, so her condition was naturally quite severe. Her parents, who were often away, hurriedly flew back.

It was, in fact, a preparation for their final farewell.

But Ji Chu refused to believe it.

Jiang Yan had just taken the college entrance exam and hadn\'t even gone to university yet. How could someone so young be dying?

Tears the size of beans suddenly rolled down, and Ji Chu couldn\'t hold back anymore. In Jiang Yan\'s sight, he leaned over the hospital bed and cried. His muffled sobs were stifled as he buried his face, and tears quickly soaked a patch of the pristine white sheets.

Although it was just a formality, the pain was real. Jiang Yan\'s lips turned pale, and she looked weak and listless as she lazily asked him, "Why are you crying?"

Ji Chu said, "I\'m crying because you\'re going to die. You\'re so pitiful, and you\'re still so young..."

Jiang Yan watched him continue crying and said, "Then I\'ll cry too."

"Why are you crying?" Ji Chu looked up with teary eyes and a nasal voice.

"I\'m crying because the person you like is about to die."

Ji Chu immediately cried even harder, as if he wanted to cry the hospital down.

After who knows how long, Ji Chu finally vented his emotions. He composed himself, took two tissues to wipe Jiang Yan\'s hand, then wiped his own face dry. His clear almond-shaped amber eyes narrowed slightly, showing a hint of danger, "So you knew all along that I liked you?"

"It was too obvious," Jiang Yan said.

"Then why didn\'t you say anything! I always thought you were a die-hard straight girl! I almost thought you were stupid!"

"We were still taking the college entrance exam! How could we date so young!"

The two, who had always pretended to be just friends, were arguing in the hospital room for the first time.

Ji Chu paused, then suddenly said, "It\'s not too late to start now."

"A sunset romance," Jiang Yan commented.

"Don\'t joke around, I\'m serious!" Ji Chu said, frowning because his intentions were not received properly.
