Chapter 152
On the day of the wedding, Tan Sheng and Lu's Father, the two elders, came together. One had his little niece taken away, while the other had hoped to see some drama but was disappointed. Both men were united in their focus on Lu Tu.
The wedding was held at Rose Manor with few guests. As Jiang Yan didn't socialize much, only relatives from her uncle Tan Sheng's side were present. Lu Tu, on the other hand, had become somewhat of an unpopular figure due to his aggressive business practices.
Almost all of his business partners had to hold their noses to work with him. This guy was truly capable, but also truly unlikable.
The wedding had all the essentials, omitting only the parts that would have been troublesome for Jiang Yan. Lu Tu had pored over catalogs to select suitable rings and wedding dresses.
Then, somehow, he learned to make models and created 3D versions of the rings and dress for Jiang Yan to feel. Puzzled, Jiang Yan asked, "If you couldn't decide, why not just order several?"
Lu Tu immediately lost his enthusiasm and flopped onto the bed next to Jiang Yan. With drooping eyes, he pleaded, "Young miss, why don't you just keep me?"
"If I keep you, what about your father's company?" Jiang Yan asked lazily.
Lu Tu deliberately acted spoiled with the young miss: "Who cares? It's enough if you keep me."
But of course, that wouldn't do. His father would fume and scold him.
On the wedding day, Lu Tu drove from the Lu family home to Rose Manor, deliberately passing by the Lin family villa. Coincidentally, he ran into Lin Muqian returning home.
After so many years, old grudges had mostly been forgotten. However, Lu Tu spent almost all his time at the manor and rarely interacted with Lin Muqian.
As he passed by, Lu Tu intentionally stopped his car, wanting Lin Muqian to give up any lingering hopes.
Noticing the red flowers adorning the Rolls-Royce, Lin Muqian greeted him: "Lu Tu, congratulations!"
Lu Tu humbly acknowledged: "Just getting married, though it's been a long time coming. I've been with the young miss for so long, we got engaged recently, and well, the date seemed auspicious, so we decided to have the wedding."
"Oh, I see..." Lin Muqian mumbled, seemingly at a loss for words.
Lu Tu, feeling he had made his point, was about to say goodbye and leave.
Suddenly, a little girl, about four or five years old, ran out of the Lin family villa. With pigtails bouncing and a small backpack on, she dashed to Lin Muqian, reaching up and calling, "Daddy, pick me up."
Daddy?! Lu Tu was dumbfounded.
Lin Muqian lifted the little girl into the car, casually introducing her to Lu Tu: "This is my daughter. Just got back from a meeting, taking her to tutoring classes."
Hearing this, the little girl cheerfully called out to Lu Tu: "Hello, uncle!"
That "uncle" stung Lu Tu's heart. Lin Muqian added, "Got to go, she'll be late. See you around!"
Lin Muqian's car sped off, leaving Lu Tu in a daze. He finally snapped out of it, angrily pounding his steering wheel to the sound of his father's loud laughter!
As soon as the wedding was over, Lu Tu clung to Jiang Yan, complaining. He first asked if she remembered Lin Muqian, then went on about how he now had a daughter and so on, like a handsome gossip.
Jiang Yan disgustedly covered his mouth. Lu Tu blinked his eyes, but since Jiang Yan couldn't see, he pressed his face against her smooth cheek, letting her feel his fluttering eyelashes.
"What are you doing? It tickles!" Jiang Yan tried to push him away, but Lu Tu wouldn't budge. His attention quickly shifted elsewhere, and he whispered to Jiang Yan: "Can I call you 'wife' now, my young miss?"
As if he were sharing some earth-shattering secret.
...
After working for his old man for over a decade, Lu Tu grew tired of it. Even when his father tried to persuade him to take over the company immediately, he refused.
In the end, Lu's Father set his sights on Tan Sheng. Well, you know, Tan Sheng, as the younger uncle, was quite a bit younger than Lu's Father and still full of energy.
Inexplicably, Tan Sheng ended up working for the Lu family.
Lu's Father couldn't tie down his own son with property, but he managed to ensnare Tan Sheng. This actually proved that property still held its charm; it was just that his son didn't want it. Why? Because he had love and didn't need the support of property? Lu's Father could never understand this in his lifetime.
In society, money and status often become invisible shackles, trapping everyone within them.
The scenery at Rose Manor remained unchanged.
Lu Tu took Jiang Yan on a trip. He never had any grand ambitions in life, only caring about what he wanted.
Despite coming from an unhappy family – his mother passing away early and his father busy with work, leaving no one to love him – he managed to overcome it, possibly due to his good education from a young age.
Thus, when he realized his aversion, he was able to reject the temptations that tried to trap him. He was one of the few people in this world who had the means to support his refusal.
He and his love traveled far. With simple luggage, they experienced wind and sun, ran hand in hand chasing the breeze, and quietly listened to the sound of waves together...
Lu Tu spent the first half of his life falling for the young miss, and later, clear-headed, asked the young miss to be his wife.
Jiang Yan was always comfortably taken care of, not because she was a woman, but because she was Lu Tu's love and, being blind, was in a vulnerable position. So in Lu Tu's heart, she held a place that needed care.
But Lu Tu relied on Jiang Yan in many ways. As they lived together day and night, Lu Tu discovered that Jiang Yan was particularly brave – the kind of bravery that comes from being loved and thus fearless of rejection. Lu Tu actually lacked this quality. He thought to himself that he wanted to protect Jiang Yan's bravery.
They traveled across most of the country together, and when they had their fill of adventure, they were already past middle age.
So they enthusiastically returned to Rose Manor to live a simple, ordinary life.
