Chapter 250: God’s Will Compass

Chapter 250: God’s Will Compass

Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios

The healing effects by the Treatment Flash spells were superimposed upon the target of healing – or attack, in this case – by Bu Yi’s healing spell. As such, Bu Yi’s healing stats rose higher and higher, and eventually were 20,000 or more points higher than Codename Sophie’s healing spell!

Almost within all the teams tackling this dungeon, the equipment and rewards received were distributed according to each individual member’s healing stats or damage output stats. Although in Lin Jie’s team, they used the approach of distribution according to one’s needs, everyone still craved for better stats innately.

The Priest brothers were exceptions though—they were the typical ‘good guys’ who would be happy as long as they made the girls in the team happy. This type of personality was often seen in the real world too, so Lin Jie did not feel too guarded about their overly-friendly gestures towards Bu Yi, and did not step in to stop them.

“Trying to snatch my status as the best healer in the team? The guts of you all! Lay on Hands!” Codename Sophie was angered. During the normal practices, his solo healing stats were always the first among the team with the use of his own healing spells and the Lay on Hands skill. Yet this time round, he was defeated due to the combined efforts of the three brothers. How could he tolerate that, even though the person beating him was the pretty girl Bu Yi?

One would get addicted to being the first in the team!

-10,000!

A massive five-digit Damage Dealt appeared on the monster’s head. The Son of Darkness’ body trembled vigorously, and it was only left with the last 2,000 health points.

At this moment, a golden compass rose up from Codename Sophie’s body. The numbers one to six were engraved all around the compass, and after some shimmering flashes, the lights landed upon the figure ‘1’. Codename Sophie raised his hands again, and a Lay on Hands skill blasted upon the Son of Darkness’ body, making it tumble over onto the ground!

Codename Sophie displayed his Healing Pane and laughed heartily. “I am still the best!”

At the same time, Lin Jie’s face turned sullen.

[God’s Will Compass]: This is a rare skill. A Holy Paladin can activate the God’s Will Compass and allow God’s light to land on one figure randomly. When the lights land on is ‘1’, he can choose a skill and reset its cooldown time. When the lights land on ‘3’ or ‘5’, the next three healing actions will have a 10% increase in their effects. When the lights land on ‘2’, ‘4’ or ‘6’, the cooldown of the God’s Will Compass will be doubled.

This was a skill which Holy Paladins could get only after they conquered the Master Level Holy Paladin trials. Its effects were unbelievably powerful, and it could let its owner release two Lay on Hands skills consecutively to save his comrades should they be in peril.

At the very least, this was a skill which could increase the healing effects of healing spells. However now, Codename Sophie was actually using it upon a Boss which he definitely had no problems conquering?

The cooldown time of the God’s Will Compass skill was as high as 12 hours!

“Codename Sophie! -100 DKP!” hollered Lin Jie angrily.

The Heavenly Shield coughed. “Erm, we don’t record DKP here.”

(Author’s note: DKP is the acronym for Dragon Kill Points. This is a stats which is frequently used to decide the distribution of rewards within MMORPG games. This is because the best equipment is often dropped by the most difficult, overlord-level monsters, which will require the combined efforts of everyone in the team to take it down. As such, the DKP distribution approach is created so that the ownership of the limited rewards within a battle can be determined due to the individual team member’s contribution in the battle.)

“Fine, then if any equipment which he had used for is dropped, I will keep it locked away in Brotherhood’s inventory. I will make sure that you can only envy for it, but never get it!” said Lin Jie huffily.

“We are tackling a dungeon now! Everyone needs to listen to the leader’s or the raid commander’s commands! Keep your desire to get the highest stats to yourselves, and don’t disrupt our attack plans! If anyone dares to anyhow release or use their skills, I will kick them out of the team at once, no joke!”

Codename Sophie’s neck shrunk back and didn’t dare to make any noise.

“The second stage has begun! All healing jobs, drink the Perfect Natural Potions, and maintain your mana levels to 60% and above! The Boss will throw out large numbers of the Corrosive Potions after five minutes, so the melee jobs, remember to apply the Mithril Membrane on your equipment,” Kid’s crisp voice suddenly rang out in the dungeon during this awkward moment, and made everyone jump. They then realized that he was already dead and lying on the ground.

Lin Jie stared at him. “How did you die?”

“Erm... I fell into the pond accidentally just now.” Kid’s face reddened, and he followed up with another comment immediately, “Everyone in the team, listen to the raid commander from now on! Now is not the time to think about why I died.”

After the long hours of training, Kid’s commanding skills had definitely improved by loads, and with that, he had also become more thick-skinned.

Lei Zhika reappeared in the dungeon, and its Attack Speed of throwing potions increased tremendously as it entered its second stage. However, with the counter-effects of the Blasphemer Sets, it was as if the team was just facing any normal attacks.

“Attack! Attack! Netherblue back off, Mixed Breathless, try to get to the front as long as you see the chance, and avoid the Corrosive Potions!” shouted Kid in a trained voice.

“Alright, prepare yourselves! Apply the Mithril Membrane`s now!”

With a single order from Kid, Silver Shield, The Heavenly Shield, and Mixed Breathless all took out the Mithril Membranes and applied them upon their shields. The Mithril Membranes had additional five levels of Magic Absorption and could be immune to 30% of Mana attacks, decreasing the damage they received by 30%.

One needed five seconds to apply the membranes!

“Baili, Night, block the attacks with ice!” shouted Lin Jie.

Baili Changcheng tapped his right finger upon his sword hilt, and a milkish white glow emanated from his sword. With a wave of his sword, a fissure was created on the ground, and layers of ice were formed! This was an Elemental Sword Artist’s skill—Ice Burst. It had an enormous AOE effect with low Damage Dealt points, but it could cause changes to the terrain to some extent.

Meanwhile, Dejected Night waved his wand and conjured up a snowstorm, hardening the ice wall built up by Baili Changcheng’s Ice Burst skill. Lei Zhika’s potions smashed against the ice wall and gave off sizzling corrosive sounds. The ice wall’s color changed from blue to black and then broke apart.

“Forward Charge!”

“Forward Charge!”

After applying the Mithril Membranes, the shields looked matte and seemed to become darker in their colors. These shields now had the effects of becoming immune to Mana attacks. Best, the Boss’ Corrosive Potion seemed to lose much of its effects against the Mithril Membrane!

Seeing that Lei Zhika’s health points were decreasing rapidly, Mixed Breathless set an ambush beside the pool. When the Lei Zhika’s health bar decreased to lower by 10% and was about to summon monsters to help him, he immediately activated the Mass Taunt skill and lured away all the aggro of the monsters!

Harsh criteria were required to overcome The Epidemic Pond, namely: getting the correct equipment and maintaining the team’s sustenance. Yet Savage Blade fulfilled all of these criteria and coupled with their accumulated experience in attacking the dungeon, the attack this time round was especially smooth. Just within six hours, the Lei Zhika’s health bar decreased to lower than 20%!

Meanwhile, three teams neared Savage Blade’s progress of the dungeon, namely—Kingdom of Glory at 75% progress, Three Alliances at 74% progress, and the Steel Allies at 70% progress!

“There are still 3,000 health points before Lei Zhika goes into the 20% summoning state. Everyone stop, stop now!” shouted Kid anxiously. “MTs, take turns to fend off the Boss. The rest of you drink your potions quickly, and repair your equipment!”

At this point of time, Lin Jie’s health bar was just left with 400 plus health points, and the rest of the team were about left with one-fifth of their health bars! When Lei Zhika’s health bar became lower than 30%, he could throw out 50 plus potions per second, and no one could distinguish where he would throw the potions. It all depended on luck on where the potions were thrown at.

When his health bar was more than 30%, Lei Zhika would throw potions by batches, and players could react accordingly. However now... with a wave of his hands, all kinds of colorful potions would be thrown out—it’s just crazy! Especially since the colors of the potions were about the same, if they got hit by the Confusion Potions, the whole team would be wiped out!

It was great that Kid was very observant, and he would remind everyone each time before the potions were thrown out, preventing them from dying. Even so, the high frequency of dodging and running around still made everyone feel extremely disoriented!

The most terrifying part would come when the Lei Zhika’s health bar was about to drop to 20%. The Boss would drink large amounts of potions every time he summoned monsters, creating two effects: killing itself or increasing 30% of all attributes of the monsters which were summoned.

The attacks launched by Lei Zhika when he killed himself were by default, set at 99% of its opponents’ highest health bar. Hence, if the players did not replenish their health bars fast enough, they would die from the Lei Zhika’s explosion!

Lin Jie immediately gulped down one Perfect Natural Potion and replenished his health bar. It was a pity that players were not allowed to drink or eat during battle mode, and 30 seconds were required for his health bar to return back to its full value with the potion’s effect. During this period of time, the MTs would have to take turns to fend off the monsters.

In actual fact, MTs would suffer large amounts of Damage Dealt when they were fending off Lei Zhika, and they required the Priests in the team to constantly heal them. This meant that only less than five people within the team were allowed to rest and recuperate at any time.

“Childe, Star Kill, our turn to fend off the monsters now.” Lost Camel took out his bow, and shouted, “Breathless, Old Shield, quickly come back and get some rest!”

Unexpected Childe and Star Kill looked at each other, and nodded their heads solemnly!

Both Hunters and Bandits were agility-type jobs. Since they were known for their agility, this meant that they definitely possessed certain levels of dodging or escaping expertise!

“My pet will lure his aggro first. Childe, do a Misdirection spell and put all of his aggro on me.” A flash of light surrounded Lost Camel for a while, and after a whistle, a furry dog came out.

“Wth, what stuff is this, Camel?”

“It’s so hideous!”

“Omg, how can it be so ugly?”

The beast being summoned out was a Golden Tooth Shar-Pei. Its golden teeth were all bucktoothed, and clumps of stinky flesh were protruding out from all over its body. Its face was the most repulsive—it looked like the expression made by a fat bald monk when he was laughing at you, with his features all screwed up. It looked just super annoying!

Lin Jie almost couldn’t contain his laughter when he saw it. The Golden Tooth Shar-Pei was just like any normal dog, except that it had a very pronounced attribute—being the most odious! In fact, it could attract an additional 50% to 300% of the aggro of its target due to its ugly appearance. It was simply the best device anyone could own for luring monsters!

Other than that, this dog was also very intelligent!

The Golden Tooth Shar-Pei walked excitedly towards Venom Lei Zhika, wagging its tail all the time. Its flicked its long tongue out like a long ponytail from its mouth, and a gurgling sound came out of its mouth as it muttered, “B*stard...”

Lei Zhika was instantly incensed by this action! This was just a dog, and it dared to curse at him? His aggro towards the dog shot up, and he charged at the ugly dog!

With a wave of his hands, the dog returned to Lost Camel’s Pet Space! After which, a few arrows shot into the Boss’ head, but the aggro of the Boss was directed at Lost Camel instead. This was the effect of a Hunter’s signature skill—Misdirection.

Just when the Boss had an explosion of speed and charged straight at Camel, a dark figure emerged from nowhere.

“Blind!” Star Kill slit his dagger across the Boss’ irises. After his successful attack, he immediately activated the Forced Invisibility skill and disappeared again.

“Ambush!”

“Cold Blood!”

Star Kill exhibited the prowess of a Bandit fully, and he aimed every shot at a different spot of the Boss’ body. All the potions thrown out by the Boss after he suffered the attacks from Star Kill, never once hit him.

The Boss gave up on killing Star Kill and charged at Lost Camel instead. Tens of potions were strewn across the mid-air in a huge arc!

“Mosquito, come out!” cried Lost Camel, and three Mosquitoes squirmed out from Lost Camel’s Pet Space! Mosquitoes were inferior pets, and as such one could summon three to five mosquitoes at any one time. However, the attributes of the mosquitoes were very lousy. They could only inject venom into their targets unless they kept sucking for five seconds and above on the players’ naked skin.

That seemed relatively fine if one didn’t think too much. However, do not forget that this was in a game...

In The New Age, which mosquito wouldn’t be huge and bulky? All of the mosquitoes were about as big as an adult’s fist. As such, only blind people wouldn’t be able to discover that his or her blood was being sucked from a mosquito’s 20cm long proboscis for as long as five seconds.

Yet now, the mosquitoes were put to good use. With Lost Camel’s manipulation, the mosquitoes caught all the potions which neared him and gulped down the potions themselves instead.

When Lost Camel touched the ground, he did not suffer any damage. However, the mosquitoes died and landed upon the ground. Lost Camel calmly terminated the contracts he had with these pets and threw them away.

As the saying went, ‘There is always a group of women behind every successful man.’

Similarly, there would always be a whole bunch of weird pets behind every successful Beast King Hunter!
