Chapter 273 - 274: Father-in-law (2)
Qin Zhigu, unlike Qin Zhiyou, who was thick-skinned, called out once, “Uncle Bai.”
Then Cai Yiren sweetly chirped in, “Zhigu, we meet again. There are empty seats here, you don’t mind if my dad and I come over, do you?”
Honestly, it was a bit awkward for Qin Zhigu to hear Cai Yiren called Bai Changyou “dad”. But he wasn’t good at saying no to people, so he could only reply, “The seats seem to have been assigned.”
“Yes, they were assigned, but they can also be taken freely, especially given the good relations between our two families. Right, dad?”
Cai Yiren’s voice was soft as she spoke, and given the setting, as an elder, he couldn’t stoop so low, but she simply didn’t care.
Bai Changyou actually preferred to sit next to Qin Zhiyou, because for business reasons, Qin Zhiyou is the head of Hanhai and the Bai Family needs the cooperation of Hanhai to maintain its position in Yan City. On a personal level, Lu Weixi is now Qin Zhiyou’s wife, he is her father, so the relationship between the two families should be closer.
As for Qin Zhigu, he is a famous designer who might compete with Qin Zhiyou in the future. But he can’t help Bai Family right now when they need it the most, so naturally, he picked up the hot potato.
But after he had only taken a few steps, Qin Zhiyou spoke, “There are no empty seats here.”
How could there be no empty seats? Only he and Qin Zhigu were sitting at this table. This round table could accommodate ten people, and yet he dared to lie so blatantly.
As if to prove his point, people from the Yu and He Families arrived quickly; Yu Sixing and He Weiyou were among them. Along with the Qin brothers, there were only six in total.
Soon after, another one arrived, a woman. It was Liu Yiyi, treading lightly on her high heels, she came over with a sweet smile, “Mr. Qin, so you’re here, it took me a while to find you.”
Then she immediately pulled out the chair next to Qin Zhiyou and sat down.
Once seated, she noticed that everyone at the table was looking at her. To her credit, Liu Yiyi, being a former TV host, was used to being stared at. She quickly laughed it off, explaining, “I’m in charge of the filming here in Yan City. Later on, I have some work matters to discuss with Mr. Qin. May I have the honor to interview both Mr. Yu and Mr. He? I may be tailing you two next time, so I hope you won’t find it annoying.”
Having said all that, the atmosphere hadn’t lightened up one bit. Liu Yiyi was a bit startled, and following the gaze of Yu Sixing and He Weiyou, she saw an unfamiliar middle-aged man and a young woman glaring at her.
A moment later, the middle-aged man spoke, “Zhiyou, this must be your friend. Aren’t you going to introduce her to us?”
Qin Zhiyou kept his gaze fixed on his phone, showing no signs of distress. He Weiyou and Yu Sixing, however, felt a little awkward. They certainly knew who Bai Changyou was. They didn’t have to pay attention to Cai Yiren, but Bai Changyou was an adult, and basic etiquette demanded they show him respect.
Especially since Bai Changyou was undeniably Qin Zhiyou’s father-in-law.
Yu Sixing hastily spoke up, “Uncle Bai, there’s nobody sitting next to me. You can come over.”
Bai Changyou glanced at Liu Yiyi, then back at Qin Zhiyou, and finally stepped towards Yu Sixing’s side and sat down. As he settled into his seat, Qin Zhiyou was still engrossed in his phone, but huffed, “There’s nothing to introduce. She’s just the former Cai Yiren and her mother..”
