Chapter 48: | 048 | Vice Admiral Charlotte
Charlotte\'s beauty wasn\'t to be underestimated. Although it didn\'t rival that of Laplace\'s, it was still a realm on its own. Her silver-shaded blond hair and somewhat curved yet leaned body seemed to promote one another well.
There was also her natural aloof expression and her empty grayish irises. It makes it hard to read, and perhaps that was among her greatest qualities.
Abraham raised an eyebrow, wondering what the Executive Officer of his ship might need from him.
"Is there something you need, Vice Admiral Charlotte?" He inquired while gazing at the eyes of the Vice Admiral in front of him.
"I am reporting the current route of the armada, Sir." Charlotte aloofly responded, making the Fleet Admiral nod in understanding as to let her continue.
"We are about 100 kilometers from the Port of Dawn and are getting nearer by the minute. We have connected a communication transmission with the port and are sending intelligence to their command."
"According to their reports, the research personnel have already started investigating the biohazard of the Elder Leviathan. They have also reached 90% of the highway network\'s completion."
Charlotte\'s report was short and concise. She seemed to be an efficient secretary, which made Abraham wonder if he should get one to lower his workload.
After all, handling everything about the United Navy would be too much for a middle-aged man like him.
At any rate, Abraham nodded upon hearing Charlotte\'s report and commented.
"It\'s good that the highway is almost complete. We need the oil field to be up and ready for our future endeavors."
"The Fleet Admiral is right. Supplies are what we need the most at the moment. As our fleet grows in numbers, so does the logistics that support it." Charlotte softly remarked.
"Thank you for your report, Charlotte. But before you go, you seem to have something to say. Are you curious about the Elder Leviathan?" Despite the clear aloofness displayed by the Vice Admiral, curiosity was a hard thing to cover.
"As expected of the Fleet Admiral. You are correct, I am curious about the so-called Elder Leviathan. To think that a 250-meter gargantuan sea monster exists in the sea."
The recent arrival of the UNS Trinity of Solace made them unable to participate in the engagement of the United Navy\'s Armada and the Elder Leviathan.
Quite a large battle that would be written in the annals of history, and the UNS Trinity of Solace was nowhere to be found in that battle. It was a bit disappointing for the Vice Admiral.
"I also heard of an ally participating in that battle, an eastern dragon that\'s a bit longer than the gargantuan sea monster. I heard from the captains that it was massive."
Charlotte also spoke about the eastern dragon. While doing so, her gaze seemed to linger on Laplace. The dragoness only squinted her eyes and maintained her indifference.
Abraham wasn\'t dense and could feel some imaginary lightning crackling between the two. These two just met, and why do they act like mortal enemies.
"Ehem, it is unfortunate that the UNS Trinity of Solace couldn\'t participate in the monster brawl. It would have been an intriguing sight for its armament to be unleashed."
The middle-aged man asserted which made the Vice Admiral nod in agreement. The firepower kept within the UNS Trinity of Solace was something to be used.
Not kept forever without seeing the light of day.
"I\'m a bit curious about this eastern dragon. I\'d like to talk to them someday. The captains seemed hesitant in giving me information about her." Charlotte tilted her head and continued.
"They said that the Fleet Admiral must authorize them to do so."
Abraham raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised by the words of the Vice Admiral. He never ordered Laplace\'s identity to be a secret. But thinking about it clearly, he understood the reasons.
Laplace was overpowered. As an ally of the United Navy, she was practically their trump card.
However, despite understanding the simple reason of wanting to hide your most powerful card, Abraham never considered her as a trump card of some sort.
So, Abraham only glanced at Laplace with a smile on his face. She wasn\'t a weapon for him or anyone to use.
"There\'s no need for my authorization to learn of Laplace\'s identity. She isn\'t mine and no one controls her. Tell the captains to cease such efforts." Abraham remarked and ordered.
"I shall see to it, Fleet Admiral. If my instincts are right, then she must be the legendary eastern dragon." Charlotte also smiled and stared at the white-haired dragoness.
"Well, it\'s not like she\'s really hiding it." Abraham lightly chuckled as the jet-black tail and horns of the dragoness were practically out for the world to see.
Charlotte stepped closer to the white-haired dragoness and shook hands with Laplace.
"I\'m Charlotte, pleasant to work with you." The Vice Admiral calmly uttered and stepped back. Laplace only felt confused as she didn\'t understand what Charlotte had said.
"She\'s introducing herself to you, Laplace. Her name is Charlotte, and she\'s glad to work with you." Abraham did the translation and realized that despite being able to communicate with Laplace.
His subordinates had no way of talking to her effectively.
Laplace nodded in understanding and also followed the etiquette.
"I\'m Laplace, the best and strongest dragon of the Ferus Sea. The stormbringer, bearer of the lightning bolt, and controller of the electrostatic." She smirked while introducing her not totally self-made titles.
Abraham barely stopped himself from coughing blood out from the sheer second-hand embarrassment he was getting from the dragoness.
Though, what she had said wasn\'t a lie. She became the thunder dragon after eating the Elder Hearth. Her abilities must have grown to become stronger than ever before.
But to keep her reputation as the dragoness, Abraham decided to keep things short.
"She says she\'s Laplace."
Charlotte raised an eyebrow as she was quite sure that what the dragoness had said was a lot longer than the words escaping her Fleet Admiral\'s mouth.
"I\'m sure what she said was a lot longer than that though," Charlotte muttered in confusion while Abraham only continued smiling.
The Vice Admiral could only sigh as the Fleet Admiral seemed adamant in keeping most of what Laplace had said.
"Anyhow, I\'ll take my leave, Fleet Admiral. I\'ll relay your orders to the captains through the data link." Charlotte lightly bowed and saluted before heading out towards the front door.
When the Vice Admiral stepped out of the officer, silence lingered before Laplace\'s questioning words escaped her supple lips.
"Abraham, what was that?"
Abraham avoided Laplace\'s gaze and acted as though he hadn\'t heard her. She will appreciate what he has done to save her reputation as the legendary dragoness.
"I saved you from eternal embarrassment, Laplace."
"Eternal embarrassment?" Laplace felt confused as to what Abraham had meant about eternal embarrassment, Why would she even be embarrassed?
