Chapter 30 - 30: 030 Clearance Instance
Land of the Wraith, The Great Tomb!
Dean McKenzie watched the incoming horde of small ghosts, his expression shifting from stunned surprise to calm acceptance.
“I was just about to go looking for them, and here they are, delivering themselves on a silver platter. Not a bad thing, Doggy Two!”
Dean said, immediately mounting Doggy Two, and swinging his Skeleton
Wand.
“Let’s go!”
At Dean’s command, Doggy Two instantly accelerated, carrying Dean straight towards the oncoming ghost group.
Unleashing his full speed, Dean felt a rush of excitement that can only be described as a mix of speed and passion.
The galloping wind fought against Dean’s hair.
But Dean’s gaze was exceptionally clear, his magic chant flowing smoothly, his wand charged and ready.
The moment Doggy Two was about 14 meters from the ghost group – which also coincided with Bone Fang’s maximum range of level 3 – Dean made his move, launching a Bone Fang.
[You have successfully killed a Small Ghost (level 9), earning you 3 Experience Points!]
One-shot kill!
Despite this, Dean furrowed his brows.
Because he didn’t kill the target he was aiming for.
It was an unintended success, and Dean understood why that happened.
Mainly because it was his first time casting a spell on Doggy Two. He wasn’t quite adjusted yet and couldn’t quite control the trajectory, leading to a miss.
However, he wasn’t satisfied with the outcome.
Patting Doggy Two carrying him, he said, “Keep our distance from the ghost group!”
At Dean’s command, Doggy Two altered course and began maintaining a safe distance from the ghost group.
The agility of the small ghosts was only at 1, far inferior to Doggy Two’s.
So, maintaining a distance was not hard for Doggy Two.
While Doggy Two kept their distance, Dean recited the Bone Fang again, targeting the ghost group.
Besides having a Talent for Extraction, Dean himself had another Talent recognized by Ennis Hawkins and his team – mastery and control over magic.
Dean was supremely talented in this respect.
For a regular mage, performing the Bone Fang spell consistently while riding at breakneck speed on Doggy Two was not a simple task.
Yet Dean nailed it right off the bat.
After that, Dean’s Talent and speed shone as his control over the Bone Fang improved.
The second shot hit its target while at top speed, though it didn’t strike a vital spot.
By the fourth shot, he was hitting vital spots.
From then on, while he didn’t have a perfect hit rate, he was at least hitting the target seventy to eighty percent of the time.
And so, Dean began his Kiting strategy against the ghost group
Amid the wind and speed, Dean simultaneously consumed his mana potions while reciting the Bone Fang spell on Doggy Two’s back.
Every few to ten seconds or so, Dean accurately shot out a Bone Fang.
Nearly every time, he could take down a small ghost.
Under Dean’s Kiting strategy, the number of small ghosts started to fall rapidly.
Within just ten minutes, Dean had slain dozens of small ghosts, reducing the ghost group by a fifth.
The death of so many small ghosts upset the one sitting on the dark throne, a ghost that was clearly a bit special.
He abandoned the Bone Throne.
He began to command the ghost group to besiege Dean.
But it was basically pointless.
The Lord-level BOSS does have some intelligence, but not enough to form much of a strategy.
All he could do was to order the ghosts to attack Dean.
But as for strategies such as surrounding or annihilating the enemy, he simply didn’t understand.
While the small ghost lord’s spirit was definitely above 10, who said that a high spirit equates to high intelligence?
What it could do was essentially useless to Dean.
Dean didn’t confront the ghost group head-on. Instead, he kept his distance and drained their strength from afar.
The ghost group had some ability to launch long-range attacks, but Dean, on the other hand, had a Bone Shield.
In other words, Dean had perfectly countered this ghost group.
“Taking on monsters with low intelligence is simply too easy. Once you find the right strategy, they’re as good as dead!”
Although Dean said this, he maintained extreme vigilance.
He kept consuming potions, never letting his mana reserves drop below 30.
Under these circumstances, the ghost group had hardly any chances to resist. As the number of small ghosts continued to drop, their threat to Dean also decreased continually.
The advantage was snowballing.
Dean was well-aware of this fact, but the ghost group didn’t comprehend. Therefore, the annihilation of this ghost group was just a matter of time. Nevertheless, in spite of this, it would still take Dean some time to wipe out the ghost group.
It took more than half an hour for Dean to eliminate just two-thirds of the ghost group.
In the process, Dean and Doggy Two had leveled up to level 9 and level 10, respectively.
Subsequently, Dean exploited his momentum and almost wiped out the remaining third within just ten minutes.
[You have successfully killed a Small Ghost (level 9), earning you 3 Experience Points!]
[You have successfully killed an Elite Small Ghost(Level io), earning you loo Experience Points’]
[You have successfully killed a Furious Small Ghost (Level 10), earning 100 Experience Points’.]
Dean intentionally saved the elite small ghosts for last.
When he was taking out the last third of the ghosts, his Experience Points surged dramatically.
Within minutes, the Experience Points had reached the edge of level 10. And there was only one small ghost left on the ghost side, sitting on the throne.
Name: Low-Level Ghost Lord (Elite)
Level: Level 10
Attributes: Agility 2, Physique: 2, Spirit 10
Mana: 140
Skills Mastered: King of Ghosts (Level 1) (Same as Bone King)
Hand of Ghost (level 1) (Consumes 10 mana points, summons a Hand of Ghost for attack and defense.
Power equals 1.3 times the spiritual power, and distance equals half the spiritual power (in meters))
Undoubtedly, this Ghost Lord was the most formidable existence among the three undead races.
It had both attacking and defensive abilities. Quite powerful! Dean’s highly effective Bone Fang became useless against it.
Once its last follower was killed and it marched out of the throne, its aura was intimidating.
However, after a brief dash from Doggy Two and a slash, it too, fell. [You have successfully killed a Low-Level Ghost Lord, earning you 200 Experience Points!]
