Vol. 9 - Chapter 430 - The Thing We Ought to Do! Shall We Look For A Helper?

"Alright, I have consolidated all the things we need to do while we still have all the members."

Like usual, we were having a meeting with all the members of <Eden> and <Arc-Arcadia> in one of the guild rooms today in front of <Sachineko-sama>.

4 days. We don\'t have much time till summer vacation starts, and considering other members would also have to make their preparations for home visits, there might not be that many chances where everyone is present. No one likes to be left behind when others are having fun, right?

So, I, along with Celestine and Sierra, created a list, and now it was time to discuss it with everyone.

"We\'re going to have a promotion exam for <Arc-Arcadia> first of all."

A spark of nervousness ran among the sub-members---except Nico and Alulu, who had already said they didn\'t mind staying in the sub-guild. Oh, and Reglam and Aegis-senpai shared the same unfazed expression. And then murmurs began to spread out between them.

"It\'s finally time."

"I-I will give my all. W-With all my power!"

<Songstress Princess> Noel said in a deep voice, looking forward to it, while <Racc-Shell> Lacritta said in a cheering tone to increase her morale.

"I\'m surprised with your calm look, Reglam-san. Are you that confident about yourself?"

"I believe so. That said, aren\'t you quite calm for your own sake too, Aegis-senpai?"

"I\'m the sole second-year here, so I am making sure my juniors don\'t see the pathetic appearance of their seniors."

Reglam and Aegis-senpai chatted between themselves. I wonder when they became such good friends. Hmm, or maybe they\'re acting like rivals? Mutually encouraging themselves.

Oh, but I have to say the Aegis-senapi of today looks far more confident and refreshed. It was quite a u-turn from the last time I saw her, depressed and cowering. Maybe Ester\'s consolation worked like a charm for her.

"It\'s finally time!"

"I\'m not going to lose!"

"It\'s the perfect chance to show our abilities to Zephyr-san!!"

Alright, the harmonic trio seems pumped up as well.

"Got them, Kairi-kun. I will be cheering for you...from the shadow." (Nico)

"Ya\', good l\'ck, Kairi. We \'ill be watchin\'---I mean, cheer\'ng for \'ou." (Alulu)

"Both of you don\'t sound like you\'re cheering at all, you know? Come now, put more energy in your cheering, geez!"

The support department duo, Nico and Alulu, had switched themselves to peanut gallery mode. On the other hand, <seeker> Kairi---she was the only one throwing the gauntlet among the support group---was shivering like someone had slipped a piece of ice block on her nape from the lackluster enthusiasm she was receiving compared to the combat job holders.

I explained further once their murmuring had quietened down to some extent.

"The internal promotion exam will be held on Wednesday after classes. The task will be revealed on the same day, and I will mention the place in chat. So far, any question?"

"Y-Yes!"

"Sure, what\'s it, Lacritta?"

"T-Thanks you very much! Err, what should we bring ourselves with?"

"Ohh, right. Come with your equipment set. Just imagine the tasks to be something like a dungeon or guild battle, since it\'s a guild exam, you know, and bring whatever you think you might need in such a situation. Anything else?"

Continuing then, I answered the question that came after a pause. I could tell they were taking it absolutely seriously.

The members of our guild had no questions. I had already informed them what the task would be for their promotion.

Once I was sure all questions were answered, I moved on to the next topic.

"Alright, Celestine will be speaking in my place now. It\'s about employing a <Helper> from an outside guild. Now, Celestine, if you can."

"Right away."

I turned to glance at Celestine, who stood up in response to my cue and started speaking from beside me.

"The main agenda is the guild\'s management and accounting. As of now, <Eden> asset, item, equipment or materials etc has far surpassed what any other same rank guild would have, which is beyond our capabilities to handle at this point."

The sudden bombshell stirred <Eden> and <Arc-Arcadia> members alike. Right, just what I was expecting. Anyone would be surprised when they heard that. I mean, Celestine was basically announcing, "We have to hunt down bosses, etc., like there\'s no day tomorrow. Now it\'s beyond us to handle the accounting and all."

Hmm, that was another dose of reality. Is this what they call suffering from success? After all, this was hardly something to care about in the game.

In the game, everything from accounting to guild management, etc., was just a matter of a few taps. Players themselves were the ones accepting all rewards. The game\'s record log and inventory were there to show what kind of drop monster dropped or how many pieces of certain materials we had at a glance. Distributing the spoils? Salary? The players were the sole owners of everything.

Oh well, we just have to deal with these side-effects of reality one way or another. Celestine was currently administrating everything, but he couldn\'t just spend all day doing that, right? They also had their lives, etc., to tackle.

Celestine continued.

"Consequently, we have decided to call in a <Helper> from outside to handle all of it."

If anything, we have already talked about hiring an accountant once we are promoted to D-rank. And now that we have, it was time to implement this.

This helper system was kind of like outsourcing. In the game, a guild could temporarily recruit a member of another guild, or they would lend their own members. It was seen as a request, and hence, it also needed QP. In exchange, you could hire any type of <Helper>, from dungeon supporter to producer, investigator, designer, merchant, etc.

It was quite a smart move from the developer side, and an incredibly smart one at that, especially considering the sort of game <Dungeon Activity> was. As a game with an unprecedented number of jobs, this move lets players experience the aspects of other jobs. Like the so-called trial character, even using premium currency. If players like it, they will surely take the said job into account for the next time.

With innumerable jobs, it was inevitable that a player would never be able to experience all of them in just one playthrough. And once you have tested a greater power, why would one want to look at low or mid-ranking jobs? It was also a tearful plea from developers, as if to say, \'Come now, don\'t sleep on this absolute helluva of a job!"

Looking back, the <Helper> system was also an old partner of mine. I have made quite a lot of new discoveries while using it.

Anyway, the long story short is that we\'re going to use this <Helper> system in reality and employ someone capable of managing our guild\'s account, etc.
