Chapter 90: 【90】I haven’t had enough yet_1
Only then did his followers let go of Tang Feng and his companion, quickly surrounding their coach.
“Coach, it must have been that woman who sneakily plotted against you. Just give the word, and we’ll take care of her for you.”
Some students, wanting to protect Niu Zhuangzhuang’s reputation, deliberately shifted the blame to Xu Xinling.
But Niu Zhuangzhuang didn’t appreciate it and instead glared at him, “A loss is a loss. I, Niu Zhuangzhuang, won’t be a sore loser.”
The student, finding his eagerness met with coldness, could only retreat in disgruntlement.
Niu Zhuangzhuang took off his boxing gloves, handed them to someone nearby, and walked over.
Tang Feng, fearing he harbored resentment toward Xu Xinling and might harm her, still stood between the two.
Niu Zhuangzhuang, however, didn’t seem to mind. He simply looked at Xu Xinling with a complex gaze, “I lost, and I accept the penalty. What do you want me to do?”
Xu Xinling arrogantly lifted her head, “Who cares about penalizing you? I just couldn’t stand your dishonesty, so I decided to teach you a lesson.”
Niu Zhuangzhuang’s face flushed red, “At first, I underestimated you. I didn’t expect you to be so powerful. Even if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been your match. Who did you learn this boxing from? It’s too impressive.”
Noticing his genuine acknowledgment of fault, Xu Xinling’s countenance softened somewhat, “Aren’t you the boxing champion of Zhonghai? My coach is just a bit better than you. He is the champion of South Yue Province, named Shen Yushu.”
Upon hearing this name, Niu Zhuangzhuang immediately showed respect, “So you are the disciple of Coach Shen? If I’d known earlier, I definitely wouldn’t have dared to challenge you.”
Someone nearby, curious, inquired, “Coach Niu, is this Shen… Coach really that impressive?”
Niu Zhuangzhuang nodded seriously, “Coach Shen was a legend in the boxing world back in the day. He once set a record of 72 matches: 71 wins, 1 draw, 0 losses, many of which were even against international boxing champions. That includes Song Cai, the Thai Boxing King who has been very famous these past few years; he was one of the fighters defeated by Coach Shen.”
The crowd was left wide-eyed and speechless.
Song Cai was the rising star in the boxing world, maintaining a 63-match undefeated streak with over 40 of those being outright knockouts.
He had become so dominant that champions from other countries dared not face him.
To think that such a formidable fighter was once defeated by this Coach Shen.
No wonder this young lady was so fierce; it was a case of a great master leading to a promising student.
“But why haven’t we ever heard of this Coach Shen?” someone immediately questioned.
If Coach Shen was really that great, he should have left a legacy in the boxing world.
Yet no one had heard of him before, which was strange.
Niu Zhuangzhuang glanced at Xu Xinling and sighed, “Back then, a big shot wanted Coach Shen to throw a match for a promised reward of 5 million. It was the nineties, and 5 million was an astronomical amount.”
Everyone gasped in shock.
Even today, 5 million is a sum difficult to refuse, let alone more than twenty years ago.
“What happened next?” the student continued to press.
The crowd had pretty much guessed the outcome, but they still wanted to hear Niu Zhuangzhuang say it.
As expected, Niu Zhuangzhuang sighed again, “Coach Shen refused. He declared that he’d rather give up boxing for life than throw a match. Subsequently, he was blackballed by that big shot, with no media daring to report on him ever again.”
Upon hearing this, the crowd admired Coach Shen for his integrity, but they also felt pity for him.
“Coach Shen truly had integrity, preferring to be blackballed rather than throw a fight. It’s so admirable.”
“It’s such a shame that, if he hadn’t been blackballed, he might have become a legend of the boxing world.”
“That big shot is despicable. Just because someone refused to throw a fight, they blackballed them?”
“I wonder who that big shot is? Are they still so arrogant?”
Xu Xinling, hearing so much praise for her coach, felt honored as well, “Don’t worry, that big shot was put away a few years ago, which serves him right. It’s just a pity that my coach is past his prime and can no longer make a comeback.”
The crowd again expressed their pity for Coach Shen.
People often say that justice may be late, but it never fails to arrive.
However, delayed justice is just a small consolation to those involved.
The things lost can never be fully recovered.
Tang Feng, too, was impressed by the story of Coach Shen.
He asked himself if he would have had the same integrity if placed in Coach Shen’s situation, and he feared he might not.
The offer of 5 million aside, just the thought of ruining one’s career was enough to make most people bow their heads.
Seeing the mood turning somber, Xu Xinling hurriedly tried to lighten the atmosphere, “I still haven’t had enough. Who wants to spar with me for a few rounds?”
At these words, everyone stepped back as if avoiding the plague.
What a joke?
If even Coach Niu couldn’t stand against her, they would just be setting themselves up for a beating.
Xu Xinling then turned her gaze to Niu Zhuangzhuang, “Coach Niu, it seems you’re the only one who can spar a few rounds with me.”
Upon hearing this, Niu Zhuangzhuang suddenly clutched his stomach and looked as if he could barely stand, “Ouch, my stomach hurts a bit, help me down.”
Then he was hurriedly escorted off the ring by a group of students.
Now only Xu Xinling and Tang Feng were left on the stage.
Xu Xinling looked at him with mischief, “How about you spar with me for a while, Young Master Tang?”
Tang Feng spread his hands helplessly, “But I don’t know boxing.”
Xu Xinling wouldn’t let this human punching bag off easily, and quickly grabbed his arm, “It doesn’t matter, I’ll teach you. With a beautiful coach like me teaching you hand-in-hand, your skills will definitely improve by leaps and bounds.”
After a moment’s consideration, Tang Feng nodded, “Well… okay then.”
Xu Xinling immediately beamed with joy, her large eyes curving into crescents.
Meanwhile, the onlookers below were relishing Tang Feng’s predicament.
Had the guy truly been so dazzled by beauty that he agreed?
The show was just about to get interesting.
