Chapter 193: OVERLORDS & the Prehistoric Era
After all, only those who reached the pinnacle of Tier-10 were hailed by the ultimate Title, \'Overlord\', which even precedes the Title \'Sovereign\' that every Tier-10 lifeform holds.
Even among those who ever managed to reach Tier-10, those who reached its pinnacle were abysmally low.
So low that the Overlords ever existed within the entire lifespan of the Universe could be barely counted with two sets of hands.
The only living ones were the Fiend Overlord and the Sentinel Overlord. If it weren\'t for the latter restricting the former, the Fiend Race would have long conquered the Universe.
After giving it a thought, Tritos shook his head before saying, "Granting anyone a Grade-10 Innate Talent was not even possible for the System with the absolute commandments bound to it. So, even the Sentinel Overlord, who has the highest access to the System, couldn\'t manipulate the Grade of anyone\'s Innate Talent.
The only plausible way I could think of is the involvement of Legacy Artifacts."
The Fiend Overlord\'s frown grew even deeper, "We have the Surveillance Beacon to detect each and every Legacy Artifact of the fallen Sovereigns. How could there possibly be a new one?"
Tritos recollected something and speculated, "Unless....unless it\'s a Legacy Artifact from the Prehistoric Era."
At the mention of the Prehistoric Era, even the Fiend Overlord, who stood at the pinnacle of the Universe, showcased uncertainty.
Even the Fiend Race that has existed since the dawn of the Universe had barely any records on the Prehistoric Era or about the great battle that ended it.
From all the evidence gathered in the hidden realms ever found, the most probable theory the Fiends or the Sentinels came up with was that the Big Bang, which created the current Universe, resulted from the destruction of another Universe.
They believed the Hidden Space Realms were none other than the remnants of the destroyed Prehistoric Universe, and the strange creatures that roam those pocket realms were the cause of the extinction of all the lifeforms of the Prehistoric Era.
Even the Fiends count their lucky stars that those creatures couldn\'t exit the Hidden Space Realms en-masse or forget about dominating the Universe; even survival would be a luxury.
After a short pause, the Fiend Overlord recollected himself and asked regarding the matter at hand, "Didn\'t you mention the one who discovered the 25th Hidden Space Realm was a Tier-4 small fry? Why don\'t you try tracking him?"
Tritos nodded and flipped open the ancient-looking Tome in his hands, and his blood-red eyes soon shone with white shimmer as his ginormous body levitated in the Dream Space.
Lord Bazil patiently waited as he had witnessed Tritos perform <Dream Clairvoyance> to peer into the future several times.
It didn\'t take long before Tritos woke from his dream. However, his usual calmness was nowhere to be seen, and disbelief gained a foothold in its place.
The Fiend Overlord right away knew something was off. Anything that could shake his advisor\'s composure was by no means a minor matter.
"Tritos, what did you see in your dream vision?"
Fiend Overlord\'s voice broke him out of the stupor, "Lord, back when a new Hidden Space Realm was unearthed, I indeed looked into the one that discovered it. I didn\'t find anything odd, but I found something shocking now that I peered deeper.
That individual should have long died in a cosmic storm, but his Fate was forcibly altered, which led him to chance upon the Prehistoric Era\'s Ruin. There he stumbled across a Legacy Artifact without even encountering a single one of those deadly creatures, and what\'s even more absurd is that he fit the affinity standards, succeeding in acquiring the Inheritance left by a Prehistoric Sovereign."
The Fiend Overlord found it hard to digest everything he heard.
Every time a Hidden Space Realm was unearthed, the Fiend Race and Sentinel Order fought tooth and nail for ownership over it.
Either side that wins gains the right to explore the Treasure Trove Ruins, but that comes with the risk of facing the strange creatures there.
The Fiend Race sacrificed a significant amount of its forces in order to gather as many Legacy Artifacts as possible from the Prehistoric Era and barely got hands on a few. What they found even more troublesome was finding someone among their entire Race to satisfy the affinity standards of the Inheritance.
Whereas, Felarial was practically handed over a Legacy Artifact that was compatible with him. If that wasn\'t the doing of the Fate, they don\'t know what to make of it.
Fiend Overlord\'s expression grew even more incredulous as Tritos elaborated, "Lord, this isn\'t all of it. The Innate Talent he obtained is likely a Clairvoyance-type one since his future turned obscure and no longer crystal clear to me. I couldn\'t even lock onto his exact whereabouts. The most I could glimpse was his vague presence within the Virgo SuperCluster.
The very same SuperCluster embodies the Milky Way Galaxy, which gave birth to an Omega Chosen. I don\'t think that\'s a mere coincidence. There is only one entity that could manipulate Fate to this extent."
The Fiend Overlord widened his blood-red eyes, "If the Universe Embryo once again awakened from its slumber, wouldn\'t that signify the resurgence of a Holy Child of Fate?"
Tritos didn\'t say anything and just answered with a grave nod, confirming what could be a nightmare for the Fiend Race.
Y\'all might think I gave in too much of the plot but trust me, I still left out a lot of it, and no, the Fiend Overlord isn\'t the final boss. I had to fill in these details to bring in the bigger picture. I know, I know....last two chapters have been quite an info dump, I will wrap it up in the and move on to the 2nd Tournament and the impending battle between Monsters Army and Alpha Chosen.
If you have any suggestions for this chapter, I am all ears. I will make any reasonable corrections based on your feedback.
