Chapter 85: The Adventure of Magnemouse
Actually, Qiao Sang preferred the small forest in Tan’an Township. Since you had to climb the mountain, it was a hassle, while the small forest was on flat ground, making it an easy round trip.
But since she was already at the foot of Huangming Mountain, she figured she might as well go up and find some wild pet beasts for training.
On Huangming Mountain.
Qiao Sang cautiously observed her surroundings. Although this wasn’t a mystical realm where high-level wild extraordinary creatures could appear, proper safety precautions were still necessary.
The biggest mistake in areas with wild pet beasts was being careless.
The mountain path was winding, and Qiao Sang walked along the narrow trail while Yabao and the Magnemouse scouted ahead.
The surroundings were eerily quiet; after walking for dozens of minutes, they hadn\'t encountered a single wild pet beast.
Qiao Sang shifted her gaze to the Magnemouse leading the way. Technically, it wasn’t that they hadn’t seen any wild pet beasts at all…The Magnemouse shivered as it inexplicably felt a chill run down its spine.
Ten minutes later.
Qiao Sang finally spotted the first wild pet beast, a Saddle Wool Bug. Its body was brown with a yellow-green vest, making it look like a saddle, and its body was covered in fine, white fur.
"Yabao!" Qiao Sang called out immediately.
“Yap!”
Yabao stopped in his tracks, assuming a battle stance, while the Magnemouse jumped in fright and stopped as well.
Little treasure (Treasure-Seeking Ghost\'s nickname) perched on Qiao Sang’s head, curiously observing the scene.
The Saddle Wool Bug, hearing the noise, turned its head to glance at them, then, unconcerned, slowly wriggled past them.
Qiao Sang stood there, stunned.
This was…awkward.
Some low-level wild pet beasts are quite simple and non-aggressive. As long as you don’t provoke them, they usually won’t attack for no reason.
The Saddle Wool Bug clearly belonged to this category.
Faced with this type of wild pet beast, Qiao Sang didn’t have the heart to make a move.
"Yap?"
Yabao glanced back at his beast master in confusion.
Qiao Sang cleared her throat, “Nothing, just wanted you to watch your step.”
"Yap."
Yabao felt embarrassed. He had completely misunderstood his beast master\'s intentions.
After another ten minutes of walking, the Magnetic Rat stopped and pointed to a spot, making a welcoming gesture.
“Zi.”
“Ziii zi.”
Without needing Yabao to translate, Qiao Sang understood what the Magnemouse was suggesting based on its actions.
She was about to refuse when, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something unusual.
Compared to the other patches of grass, one particular spot was moving more noticeably.
“Yabao!”
“Yap!”
Yabao’s eyes sharpened, and he assumed a combat-ready stance again.
The next second, a slightly larger Magnemouse suddenly darted out from the bushes, launching an attack without any warning.
Golden electricity crackled around its body, and an electric arc shot directly toward Qiao Sang.
Without thinking, Yabao charged forward to block the arc with his body. But Qiao Sang quickly reacted, grabbing the dog and rolling them both out of the way.
The electric arc struck the ground, sending sparks flying and leaving a small crater.
“Yap!”
“Yap yap!”
Yabao looked back anxiously at Qiao Sang.
“I’m fine.” Qiao Sang said as she quickly got to her feet, shaking her head. She needed to move fast to avoid another electric attack.
Seeing that his beast master was unharmed, Yabao flared up in anger, and red flames surged around his body. He glared at the Magnemouse, ready to charge.
But just as Yabao was about to leap forward, he noticed the Magnemouse was suddenly floating in mid-air.
“Zii!”
The floating Magnemouse struggled desperately, glaring at Qiao Sang with fury, as if it wanted nothing more than to bite her.
Qiao Sang noticed the strange sight and turned to look at Little treasure. His curious gaze was now gone.
Instead, his body glowed blue, and he was floating in the air, his yellow eyes turning an eerie blue.
Qiao Sang froze for a moment. Controlling objects with telekinesis was one thing, but controlling living creatures was on a completely different level. The energy required was vastly greater.
And yet, Little Treasure had not only used telekinesis to restrain another being, but one that was actively struggling, and he had only been born for four days…
Yabao quickly snapped back to reality. It dug his hind legs into the ground, causing the flames around him to expand as it shot forward like a streak of red light.
In the blink of an eye, as Yabao was about to crash into the larger Magnemouse, a smaller yellow figure suddenly jumped in front of it.
The force of Yabao’s flame charge sent both the small figure and the larger Magnemouse flying.
“Zii!”
“Zii”
Two different voices cried out in unison, and moments later, both Magnemouse had passed out.
Qiao Sang looked at the smaller Magnemouse that had suddenly rushed out and shielded the other. It wasn’t hard to guess what had happened.
The larger Magnemouse had clearly known the one she brought back, and assuming she was the villain, it attacked.
She glanced sympathetically at the smaller Magnemouse lying unconscious on the ground.
This poor thing had had a rough few days. Just when it was about to make it home, this happened.
This entire experience could probably be written into a book. Qiao Sang had already thought of a title—The Adventures of the Magnemouse.
“Yap!”
“Yap!”
Yabao, realizing hr had accidentally knocked out his new companion, anxiously ran over to Qiao Sang, barking.
“It’s okay. It’s not like you did it on purpose. Even if you had recognized it midway, you wouldn’t have been able to stop your Flame Charge in time.”
Qiao Sang patted Yabao’s head. “I brought some medicine; we can use it to treat them.”
Since she hadn’t contracted any pet beasts with healing abilities, Qiao Sang had bought some medicinal sprays as a precaution.
She had picked them up when she contracted the Little Treasure at the pet beast base.
Even though she wasn’t planning on venturing into any mystical realms, it never hurt to be prepared.
And sure enough, they had come in handy.
“Little Treasure, the medicine.” Qiao Sang called out.
Since Yabao already had a name, Qiao Sang didn’t want to play favorites, but she couldn’t think of anything particularly fitting for the little ghost. So, she’d just dropped the ghost part and started calling it Little Treasure.
After two days of being called that, Little Treasure seemed to like it.
At that moment, Little Treasure was floating beside the larger Magnemouse, just about to use his Dream Eater move to replenish some of his own energy.
Hearing Qiao Sang call out, Little Treasure froze, feeling as if he had been caught doing something wrong.
“Xun~”
Little Treasure immediately gave up on its earlier plan. Floating back over, he took off his ring and pulled out a bottle of medicinal spray.
