Chapter 9: Using House Purchase Funds to Invest in Futures
Zhao Yuqing let out a sigh and waved her hand, saying, “This is your affair, and I don’t want to interfere. Just hope you won’t regret it.”
Lin Junyi smiled and said, “Xu Yang, you and Yuxin have already registered your marriage. Live your life well. I wish you both happiness.”
In fact, Lin Junyi was actually quite pleased. After all, he had a good relationship with Zhao Hai and treated Zhao Yuxin like a younger sister. He had a favorable impression of Xu Yang and was genuinely happy for Zhao Yuxin.
In the end, finding a reliable man for a girl was truly difficult.
“Thank you, Junyi. We’ll definitely do that,” Xu Yang expressed his gratitude.
The conversation continued, and over half an hour quickly passed.
“Dinner is ready!” Zhao Yuxin’s voice echoed. She brought the dishes to the table, and Xu Yang hurriedly went over to help. Soon, they had all the dishes on the table.
Xu Yang set out the bowls, chopsticks, and wine glasses, pouring a glass of wine for each person.
“Dad, happy birthday.”
“Uncle Hai, happy birthday.”
“Hai, happy birthday.”
“Uncle Hai, happy birthday.”
Everyone took turns to toast Zhao Hai.
The birthday dinner ended in a very cheerful atmosphere and Zhao Hai was slightly intoxicated. Today, he felt very happy. He had been worrying about Zhao Yuxin’s relationship issues all along. She hadn’t dated anyone during her university days and didn’t have a boyfriend after entering society. But now, she was with Xu Yang. The heavy stone in Zhao Hai’s heart had finally been lifted.
Xu Yang was a young man Zhao Hai held in high regard. Zhao Hai also believed that Xu Yang’s character was sound, and he treated people well. His feelings for Zhao Yuxin were sincere. With those three aspects, no matter what happened in the future, Xu Yang wouldn’t falter, and Zhao Yuxin’s life wouldn’t be affected.
Zhao Hai wasn’t like his ex-wife, Liu Yujuan, who always wanted their daughter to marry into a wealthy family. His requirements for a son-in-law were simple. Someone like Xu Yang was more than satisfactory. As long as his daughter felt happy, that was enough.
In Zhao Hai’s joy, he had a bit too much to drink. Xu Yang and Zhao Yuxin saw off the guests before helping Zhao Hai back to his room to rest. As Zhao Hai was already drunk, Zhao Yuxin was worried about him. So, she and Xu Yang decided to stay over.
On the bed, Xu Yang and Zhao Yuxin chatted, “Xu Yang, my dad gave me two million yuan. When should we go take a look at houses, pay the down payment, and buy a property? What do you think?” Zhao Yuxin asked.
Having registered their marriage, Zhao Yuxin hoped to have a property of their own, using the two million yuan her dad provided for the down payment. Together, they could handle the mortgage payments without much pressure. After all, she worked at a bank, and Xu Yang worked at a publicly listed company. Their jobs were stable.
In fact, after paying the two million yuan down payment, if Zhao Yuxin and Xu Yang extended the loan term a bit and with her income alone, she could afford the mortgage without affecting their lives.
“Yuxin, I’d like to delay buying a house for a while and use this money for something else,” Xu Yang said.
In a few days, the gold futures were expected to surge, and Xu Yang needed to participate. The system’s grand package came with a million yuan startup capital, but he wished to invest more. The more he invested, the more he could earn. The system’s information was accurate and the investment was a guaranteed profit. He needed to use as much money as he could.
With gold futures expected to rise by 30%, given the tenfold leverage, it was akin to a 300% increase, earning three million yuan. Using the system’s one million, Xu Yang could earn three million. If combined with Zhao Yuxin’s two million, that was a total of three million, tripling it to nine million. They could even increase their positions with floating profits, earning even more.
Moreover, buying a house wasn’t urgent. With the system, Xu Yang could buy a villa or a large flat in a few months without a mortgage, without paying bank interest, avoiding the exploitation and pressure of banks. The day of buying a house was not far off, and within a few months, he’d have enough to buy one. For now, Xu Yang thought he and Zhao Yuxin could continue living in the rented house and move into the fully paid new house in a few months.
As for the Central Bank of Droland’s stock dropping by 2%, Xu Yang wouldn’t participate.
“Hmm? What are you planning to do?” Zhao Yuxin asked.
“I’ve been very optimistic about gold futures recently. I think they’ll rise significantly. I want to invest the money in gold futures. I have one million yuan, and with your two million, if we invest it all, we should be able to earn a few million. What do you think?” Xu Yang explained his idea.
If Zhao Yuxin wasn’t willing, Xu Yang wouldn’t insist. At most, they’d earn a bit less, and they could delay buying a house by a bit. He wouldn’t hold any negative views toward Zhao Yuxin for it.
“Sure.” Zhao Yuxin agreed without hesitation.
“Aren’t you worried that I might lose all the money?” Xu Yang asked as he was somewhat surprised.
Xu Yang thought Zhao Yuxin would want to inquire about the details and find the idea feasible before agreeing. But he hadn’t expected her to agree so readily. Without hesitation, she agreed without even asking about the specifics.
“I’m not afraid. We’re still young. Sometimes, it’s okay to take some risks. Even if we lose this money, it won’t affect our lives much. We can just postpone buying a house for a few more years,” said Zhao Yuxin. She was surprisingly open-minded and had no aversion to futures trading.
As a graduate in finance, Zhao Yuxin knew how futures worked and trading futures was normal.
“Yuxin, thank you. Don’t worry, this investment won’t lead to losses.” Xu Yang felt moved. He reassured Zhao Yuxin with determination, wanting to put her at ease.
“Okay, I believe you,” Zhao Yuxin said as she nodded repeatedly.
…
The next day, Xu Yang and Zhao Yuxin got up and took the subway to work together.
Zhao Yuxin withdrew the money and transferred it to Xu Yang’s bank account.
Upon receiving the money, Xu Yang went to a futures brokerage near the company, opened a futures account, checked the futures market, and transferred the funds into his futures capital account. He invested the entire amount in gold futures and waited for the price to rise.
Zhao Hai arrived at his restaurant. After being busy for a while, his phone rang.
“Yulu.”
Seeing that it was his elder daughter calling, he answered.
“Dad, are you busy?” Zhao Yulu asked.
“Not really. What’s the matter?” Zhao Hai inquired.
“Dad, I want to borrow some money from you,” Zhao Yulu said with difficulty.
Since their father-daughter relationship wasn’t particularly close, it took some courage for Zhao Yulu to ask her father for money.
“Borrow money? What do you need the money for?” Zhao Hai asked.
“I have a friend who’s interested in an investment project that will yield high returns in the short term. I want to borrow money to invest,” Zhao Yulu gave a vague explanation.
Zhao Yulu didn’t mention who the friend was, what the project was, or how much profit it could generate.
“How much do you need to borrow?” Zhao Hai inquired.
Zhao Hai understood why Zhao Yulu came to celebrate his birthday last night. She was laying the groundwork for borrowing money, which made him quite uncomfortable. He didn’t feel like probing further. If Zhao Yulu didn’t want to talk about it, then so be it. He wasn’t insistent on knowing.
“All right, let me know if you need anything,” Zhao Hai replied and felt it unnecessary to continue discussing the topic.
