Chapter 82: It’s okay, sit together
“Miss Qin, the president hasn’t arrived yet; he instructed that you may go in first.” Chen Xin, the chief secretary of the presidential secretariat, had seen Qin Youxuan before and knew why she was here. Swiftly, she opened the office door and courteously stepped aside to let her in.
“This is the material Mr. Jie instructed me to hand over to Miss Qin. If there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask me.” Secretary Chen waited until Qin Youxuan sat on the sofa before placing the folder in front of her.
“But I haven’t finished reading the materials I have!” Qin Youxuan lifted her head, her voice filled with anxiety.
Considering the pace at which Dan Hanjie was providing her with materials, even if she didn’t eat or sleep, she wouldn’t have time to finish reading everything…
“There’s no need to worry, Miss Qin. This is merely the latest stock market analysis. A casual understanding is enough.” Seeing Qin Youxuan looking extremely nervous, Secretary Chen couldn’t help but chuckle and add.
“That’s good to know, thank you!” Qin Youxuan hugged the folder Secretary Chen had given her and ran toward Hanjie’s desk with great enthusiasm, bringing the materials she had brought as well.
Keeping her cooped up on the sofa reading was going to break her neck!
“Miss Qin!”
Seeing her sitting in Hanjie’s place, Secretary Chen was startled, her cry almost breaking into a high pitch.
“Hm?” Startled by Chen’s outcry, Qin Youxuan looked up at her in confusion. “What’s wrong?”
Secretary Chen took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. Just as she was about to tell her to stand up, she heard the steady footsteps of a man coming from behind her and groaned inwardly.
“Mr. Jie.”
Secretary Chen turned around and bowed.
The man didn’t look at her, but walked straight past her towards Qin Youxuan, who was sitting at his desk, raising an eyebrow.
Seeing the dangerous gleam in his eyes, Secretary Chen was about to speak when Dan Hanjie waved her away.
“Mr. Jie, actually…” Secretary Chen wanted to explain for Qin Youxuan’s sake, but the man’s piercing gaze silenced her. She quit the room, bending as she closed the door behind her.
“You’re so formidable, even Secretary Chen is too scared to speak in your presence.” Qin Youxuan looked up at him, pursing her lips.
She didn’t see him for a night, and he seemed more handsome?
His suit was well-fitted, he carried an air of condescension that oozed nobility, his sharp eyebrows were slightly raised, all of which made people feel overwhelmingly oppressed…
“I’m scary?”
Dan Hanjie sneered, looking at the woman in front of him who not only dauntingly teased him but still didn’t know why Secretary Chen was scared.
“Otherwise? Me? How is that possible? I’m so adorable, everybody loves me!” Qin Youxuan retorted without thinking, then noticed Dan Hanjie had come up close to her and still hasn’t taken his seat yet.
A chill ran down her spine, and she promptly stood up.”Um, sorry, you weren’t here just now, so I thought I’d borrow your chair for a bit. I’ll go get a chair…”
Before Qin Youxuan could finish, a heavy arm landed on her shoulder. His thin lips curled into a smile. “No problem, let’s sit together.”
Sit together.
…Together…
Damn it! What was she thinking about!
Qin Youxuan pinched herself hard. Looking at Hanjie, who was not loosening his grip, before she could even voice her thoughts, her body was lifted up in the air.
She didn’t even have time to make out his movements; her bottom lifted and the next moment she found herself sitting on his lap.
His charming face even leaned closer to her ear, taking in a deep breath…
