Chapter 183: Heartache When Thinking About it
Dan Hanjie raised his hand to pinch her face, the corners of his mouth lifting in indulgence.
“Where are we going?”
Qin Youxuan knew he wouldn’t answer but she couldn’t help asking anyway.
After waiting for a while, as expected, Dan Hanjie had no intention of replying.
“Fine, eat first,” she decided.
Qin Youxuan silently sat back down, reaching for her utensils to eat.
Before long, Yao returned, holding a freshly signed contract in his hand.
“Heng’s mechanical manufacturing is world-class. They have overlapping interests with the Qin Group. If we cooperate with Mr. Heng, it could not only increase the Qin Group’s fame but also make it possible for it to become a first-class company in the future.”
Dan Hanjie glanced at Yao, who instantly placed the contract on the table with reverence.
“The Qin Group…”
Qin Youxuan abruptly stopped cutting her steak, looking up in surprise.
Had he come all the way to Pittsburgh for business, just to help her secure the future of the Qin Group?
“Don’t look at me like that, the Qin Group was just a side project.” Dan Hanjie rapped her forehead lightly with his fingers.
“Ouch!” Qin Youxuan exaggerated her pain, grimacing as she covered her forehead, concealing the emotion in her eyes.
She gripped her knife and fork a bit tighter as she tried to suppress her racing heart.
The sun was setting.
The evening light bathed the shimmering water, reflecting glimmers of red.
“Is this the confluence of three rivers?”
Qin Youxuan blinked in surprise at the sight before her, still taking in the river mouth.
Pittsburgh was situated at the junction of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers, with all three running through the city.
On the clear waters of the river, small boats floated lazily along, with many kayakers paddling back and forth.
Near the shore, there were even more tourists playing in the water – it was a bustling and lively scene.
Qin Youxuan couldn’t help but turn to look at the man beside her, surprised that he would take her out for such a fun day.
“You don’t like it?”
“I love it!” Qin Youxuan responded eagerly.
Without thinking, she grabbed onto his sleeve.
“Mr. Jie, everything is ready. The yacht is just ahead,” Yao reported as he returned.
“Do you get seasick?” Dan Hanjie asked. His eyes were unusually gentle; he used his long fingers to tuck a wind-blown lock of Qin Youxuan’s hair behind her ear.
“Absolutely not. I’ve got a great constitution and I hardly ever get sick,” Qin Youxuan declared with pride.
Her defiant attitude added a hint of allure to her already appealing face.
Dan Hanjie’s eyes flickered, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to the corner of her mouth.
“I thought we were here to swim…” Qin Youxuan pushed him away. They were surrounded by people and she could feel the blush creeping onto her cheeks.
Dan Hanjie paused, lifting his head to look at her bashful countenance, his deep eyes shrouded with an obscure light.
In no time, they boarded the yacht.
“If you’d told me we were coming here to swim, I would’ve changed into a swimsuit. Look at how much fun everyone else is having in the water,” she grumbled, stuck on the yacht.
She couldn’t help the frustration welling up.
With bare feet, Qin Youxuan sat at the edge of the yacht and gave the water’s surface a kick, splashing up a shower of droplets.
A few drops landed on Dan Hanjie, making her feel just a bit better, so she purposely kicked the water a few more times.
Seeing Dan Hanjie’s serious face, she had to cover her mouth to keep from laughing.
“Stop that!” Dan Hanjie pulled her petite frame into his arms, letting her rest against his chest, facing the sunset.
