Chapter 166 - 165: Mythical Species
The Emperor’s Secret Realm seemed to be located in the north of the Federation, almost entirely on a plain, where traces of human life could be vaguely seen.
Obviously, after the discovery of the Emperor’s Secret Realm, this place was completely emptied by the Federation.
As the first emperor in human history and the creator of the Beast Master profession, his secret realm, even if it just touches the edge, was worth the Alliance’s attention.
However, Bai Qi and Luo Xiang soon flew out of the area controlled by the Federation and came to the place managed by the Association.
Like the area managed by the Thirteenth Bureau, this place was also filled with metal doors. But compared to the countless high-end instruments on the Federation side, the Association side seemed a bit retro.
Compass, crystal ball, tortoise shell, dragon-seeking ruler…
Almost anything that Bai Qi could associate with divination appeared on the Association side. If it weren’t for the occasional sight of a few computers responsible for recording, Bai Qi would have thought he had traveled back to ancient times.
“Do you feel like the Association side is much rougher than the Thirteenth Bureau?”
Luo Xiang noticed Bai Qi’s expression and couldn’t help laughing: “I thought the same when I first joined the Association. For a while, I even thought I had joined some sort of charlatan organization. Only after I discovered that these items were all treasures did I slowly believe I hadn’t been tricked.”
“All are treasures?”
Bai Qi looked at the various “charlatan sets” almost one in everyone’s hands as far as he could see, somewhat incredulous.
Although he knew that the Association had a long history and deep heritage, it wasn’t to the extent of wholesale distribution of treasures, right?
“Don’t worry, after you complete the training, the Association may also assign you a treasure. However, it’s hard to say what it will be.”
At this point, Luo Xiang seemed to think of something and laughed, “I heard that you haven’t yet received the Lord creature the Association allocated to you? Old Lady Fan in the breeding area has been grumbling about it for a while.”
Bai Qi scratched his head awkwardly when he heard this. He did indeed want to go pick it up, but too many variables had come up.
“However, the three pets you currently have are well trained, and I’ve heard from President Qin that all of them seem to be of the mutant species?” Bai Qj nodded and said, “Yeah, I had the good luck of encountering them.” Luo Xiang said, “Mutant species are good, but the starting point of the few that you’ve contracted is too low, and the upper limit might not be high. In the future, if you get the opportunity, consider contracting with some special species of pets.”
Upon hearing this, Bai Qi immediately thought of the saber-toothed tiger he had just encountered, “Special species? It seems like I’ve heard Instructor Lv mention it.”
Luo Xiang nodded and said, “Yes, in fact, the mutant species is also considered a type of special species, but the emergence conditions and effects of the mutant species are different, so they are not as powerful as the other types.” “The saber-toothed tiger you just encountered is an ancient species. Unfortunately, it’s clear that it was put in there by the maintenance personnel of later generations. Its bloodline isn’t pure, otherwise, it wouldn’t be just King-level.”
Bai Qj nodded slightly, looking down at the giant eagle beneath his feet, suddenly asking, “Then, Instructor Luo, is your pet also a special species?” Luo Xiang nodded and said, “Are you talking about Neil? Yes, Neil is a mythical species, a North Eagle.”
Well, no wonder he looks down on the mutant species; it turns out even his mount is of the mythical classification.
Bai Qi clicked his tongue enviously, but when he thought of the Evolution Egg, he instantly felt better.
Perhaps for others, a creature’s innate bloodline may limit the potential of pets, but with the Evolution Egg, these differences will inevitably be eliminated.
No matter what kind of species, ancient, giant, or mythical, as long as the materials are provided, any species can be produced.
But Luo Xiang’s words also made sense. Although training pets with low bloodline level like Alpha provides more flexibility, it indeed takes more time.
If there weren’t any more unexpected situations, it would be better to find some with special bloodlines.
Soon, the North Eagle landed in front of a camp.
Many people noticed Luo Xiang’s arrival, and upon seeing it was Luo Xiang, all showed an excited expression.
“Great, finally we don’thave to run around like headless flies.”
“But I heard Master Luo is here this time to break the entrance for the Thirteenth Bureau?”
“Are you silly? Anyway, this secret realm is being jointly developed by us and the Thirteenth Bureau. Whoever opens the entrance first doesn’t matter. By the way, isn’t it great to brush up on task rewards?”
“That makes sense.”
Hearing the chatter of the surrounding people, Bai Qi once again recognized Luo Xiang’s unique position in the Association.
More accurately, it was the position of a productive secret realm decoder.
It seemed that he had underestimated the Breaking the Void talent. Otherwise, President Qin would not have recommended him to join special training as soon as he reached the first stage.
What a pity, he was just a fake. As long as the Breaking the Void talent couldn’t be triggered stably, he wouldn’t be exposed.
“Hm? Luo, you’re here, and who’s this, is it Cha?”
At this moment, a strong smell of alcohol suddenly came from behind them. Bai Qi immediately turned around to look, seeing a disheveled man holding a bottle of wine swaying from a house towards them. His messy hair, unkempt beard, combined with the strong smell of alcohol, hardly differed from a tramp. Seeing the downcast uncle walking over, Luo Xiang wasn’t surprised at all. He sniffed and said, “Uncle Chun, where did you find this excellent wine in another secret space? Care to share?”
At these words, Chun Yushui immediately threw the bottle of wine in his hand over to Luo Xiang, who caught it effortlessly, only to discover it was already empty.
“Heard you were coming, I worked overtime to finish all these wines.” Chun Yushui burped, then stretched out his hand and grabbed Bai Qi’s cheek, rubbing it vigorously. He patted Bai Qi’s shoulder and said, “Eh, Cha, you’ve grown so strong since you were sent to Gusu City by your father?”
Bai Qi looked helplessly at Luo Xiang for help, only to find Luo Xiang still battling with the wine bottle, completely ignoring Bai Qi.
Bai Qi gave up and forcefully pulled himself out of Chun Yushui’s clutch. “Uh… this Superior, I think you’ve mistaken me for someone else. My name is Bai Qi, not Bai Qiucha.”
“If you’re not Cha, then it’s not interesting.”
Chun Yushui lost interest immediately. He surveyed Bai Qi from head to toe with his bleary eyes. “Your name seems familiar. I think I’ve heard it together with Bai Heguang’s. Could you possibly be Bai Heguang’s illegitimate son?” A corner of Bai Qj’s mouth twitched uncontrollably. He strongly suspected this rumor was spread by this raggedy uncle, after all, not just anybody dared to gossip about an infamous figure like the Titled Legendary.
“You’re overthinking it. Bai Chuanqi’s temper isn’t so good. If there really was an illegitimate son, do you think this guy could still be jumping about here?” Luo Xiang finally recalled who Bai Qi was and explained, “This kid did so well in training that the old man thought about bringing him out to broaden his horizons. He just came with me from the Thirteenth Bureau and is planning to train hard here.”
Chun Yushui glanced at Bai Qi and said, “Sounds like you’re planning to train someone else to shoulder the burden?”
Luo Xiang rolled his eyes. “Wasn’t I learning it from Uncle Chun here?” Listenting to their exchange, Bai Qi’s eyes took on an odd glint.
Why did it sound like Luo Xiang had other intentions when taking him out this time? Getting rid of a burden? Was Luo Xiang forced to be so productive?
Luo Xiang noticed the odd look in Bai Qi’s eyes and cleared his throat. “Ahem, Bai Qi, go and rest first. You can sleep in any room without a tag.”
“Alright.”
Bai Qi shrugged and did not want to further get in the way. He randomly picked a room far away from Chun Yushui and moved in.
First, it was the Earth Gold Ring, now the Wind Teeth, and the Grass Cutter Claw that he hadn’t had a chance to absorb. These materials needed to be absorbed as soon as possible to enhance his fight power. Otherwise, with his current Third Stage Beast Master strength, it would be hard for him to progress in the Emperor’s Secret Realm.
After Bai Qi left, Chun Yushui immediately wiped the grin off his face, and his eyes cleared.
“You’ve been to the Thirteenth Bureau, how far along are they?”
Luo Xiang replied, “On the surface, they are still in the boot camp area, but I believe some have already moved onto the next area. Though I can’t yet figure out their methods, I can say for sure it’s not the Breaking the Void talent.” Chun Yushui sneered, “They are as sly as ever. But it doesn’t matter, we’re almost ready here, just playing along with them.”
Luo Xiang nodded, “I will go in alone later to check out the situation in the next area.”
As he said this, Luo Xiang looked at Bai Qi’s room. “As for this guy, I’ll leave him to Uncle Chun for now. Do whatever you wish with him. He’s got more lives than a cat.”
Hearing this, Chun Yushui chuckled. “Aren’t you afraid you’ll ruin him, with no one to take on your role?”
A mysterious smile appeared at the corner of Luo Xiang’s mouth. “Trust me, when the time comes, you might be the surprise.”
Having said that, Luo Xiang walked towards Chun Yushui’s room without waiting for his reply.
“I can smell more alcohol coming from your room, Uncle Chun. Do you have more hidden in there?”
“Son of a gun, how is your nose still so sharp!”
Although the rooms in the camp were very simple, they contained all the necessary living supplies. Bai Qi looked around and then promptly lay on the bed, examining the rubbings of runes Luo Xiang had given him.
Considering Luo Xiang had taken the time to make these rubbings, it certainly wasn’t just because of some ancient runes. It might be helpful in the following exploration of the Emperor’s Secret Realm.
And also the slave contract, seemed quite promising too.
So many more things to research.
Bai Qi rubbed his forehead and carefully stored the rubbings away, then entered the Secret Space.
After several days of effort, the Five-Element Skulls had completed a brand- new base which was much larger than Bai Qi’s villa.
Bai Qi smoothly moved to the breeding room, summoned Alpha, Husky, and Gamma all at once, and then took out the three pieces of Epic Materials he had recently acquired, his face intently thoughtful.
The Earth Gold Ring must go to Gamma, even if it couldn’t eventually split as planned, at the very least it could strengthen Gamma’s physical condition.
As for the Grass Cutter Claw, Alpha should be the one equipped with it, considering its sharp attribute. Therefore, no need to think any further on that. Only the Wind Teeth he had just obtained from the Saber-toothed Tiger was left. Bai Qi was a little bit torn.
Based on the Saber-toothed Tiger’s performance just now, once the Wind Teeth was fused, it would surely acquire Wind Skills. Both Alpha and Husky were suited to it.
Such a headache…
