Chapter 847: Dragon Shadow Day Care
Chapter 847: Dragon Shadow Day Care
When Yuga returned to his own exhibition area, they had quite a few Day Cares gathering around, all with their sights set on the Trapinch.
What surprised Yuga the most was the arrival of the Dragon Shadow Day Care.
The owner behind the Dragon Shadow Day Care was from the prominent Johto-based family, the Dragon Tamer family. Dragon Shadow Day Care was considered one of the family's ancestral businesses.
Although the Day Cares supported by the Dragon Tamer family were not among the private Day Care giants, they were certainly not to be underestimated.
Their Day Care primarily served members within their family, so its scale couldn't possibly match that of the top five giants.
The Dragon Tamer family had been breeding Dragon-type Pokémon for generations, and it was said that they had a dedicated Dragon Den that housed exclusively Dragon-type Pokémon. This time, they seemed to be interested in Trapinch.
However, while Vibrava and Flygon were indeed pure Dragon-types, their egg groups did not include Dragon; they belonged solely to the Bug group.
As a family that bred Dragon-type Pokémon, it might not be easy for the Dragon Tamer family to efficiently breed Dragon-types from Bug egg groups, as all the Pokémon in those egg groups that possessed the Dragon type couldn't mate with them.
In such a situation, the efficiency of breeding Dragon-type Pokémon would be significantly reduced.
"Is this Mr. Shimizu? I'm Belindo, a pleasure to meet you!"
The person in charge of Dragon Shadow Day Care, Belindo, greeted Yuga warmly upon his return.
Yuga: "Nice to meet you too!"
As far as Yuga knew, the owner of the Dragon Shadow Day Care didn't attend this exchange conference. Belindo was the highest-ranking representative for Dragon Shadow at this event.
"Oh my, you've done an excellent job breeding Trapinch," Belindo exclaimed while observing the Trapinch busily burrowing in the sand.
Of course! Yuga thought to himself.
After the YoYo Day Care's young Pokémon were born, high quality Pokéblocks, Moomoo Milk, and Sweet Honey kept coming in without interruption.
With so much high quality food, it would be strange if the Pokémon didn't grow well.
Yuga: "Mr. Belindo, are you interested in our Trapinch?"
For Trapinch, which belongs to the Bug egg group, using it as breeding stock for Bug-type Pokémon would undoubtedly be excellent. However, if you wanted to breed Dragon-type Pokémon with them, it wouldn't be easy.
If used to breed Dragon-types, they could only mate within their own species.
This was because offspring from mating with Pokémon from different egg groups had a 50% chance of not being Trapinch, and the Dragon lineage would diminish, reducing the probability of awakening Dragon-type moves.
But Yuga couldn't provide a large quantity of Trapinch.
In the absence of a sufficient number of Trapinch, trying to reproduce within the same species would be highly inefficient, something Belindo probably knew, so Yuga was curious about their intentions.
Of course, within the Bug group, there were non-Bug-type Pokémon like Skorupi and Drapion (Note: Drapion's pre-evolution, Skorupi, has the Poison and Bug types, while Drapion has the Posion and Darl types), and Pokémon bred from pairing Flygon with these two would also be excellent.
However, Yuga didn't believe that the Dragon Tamer family had Skorupi and Drapion.
To facilitate the breeding of Dragon-type Pokémon, he thought the Dragon Tamer family's should primarily cultivated Pokémon within the Dragon egg groups, like Arbok.
"We are indeed interested. We recently acquired a batch of exceptional Yanmega. If we could have Flygon, their offspring would undoubtedly be outstanding."
Belindo replied with a cheerful smile.
Yanmega?
I see, if it's for pairing with Yanmega, then it makes sense.
Although Yanmega is a Bug-type Pokémon, its stats are quite impressive, and what is a rare hidden ability in other Pokémon, "Speed Boost," is just a regular ability for them.
The Speed Boost ability is excellent, as it periodically boosts the Pokémon's Speed during battles.
Yanmega already had decent Speed to begin with, and when paired with the Speed Boost ability, it becomes quite formidable.
However, Yuga didn't expect the Dragon Tamer family, who primarily bred Dragon-type Pokémon, to be interested in Bug-type Pokémon.
Even at Dragon Shadow Day Care, the Pokémon they sold were mostly Dragon-types or Pokémon with Dragon-type bloodlines, all under the control of the Dragon Tamer family.
"If you're truly interested in Trapinch, how about you tell me which Pokémon you have available for exchange?"
Yuga didn't mind the idea of the Dragon Tamer family introducing their Pokémon to him as long as they met his standards.
"Our exhibit area is not far from here. Mr. Shimizu, would you like to come and take a look?"
Belindo extended an invitation to Yuga.
Yuga thought it over and agreed. Hearing from others was one thing, but seeing things for himself would provide a more accurate assessment.
When exchanging Pokémon, it's not just about knowing the species; the health condition of the Pokémon is also crucial.
Dragon Shadow Day Care's exhibit area was close to the artificial waterfall and river in the Ecopark because they displayed Water-type Pokémon.
Standing outside the railing, the first thing Yuga saw was the Horsea in the water pool in Dragon Shadow Day Care's exhibit area. They were small and light blue, and the way they blew bubbles on the water surface was incredibly adorable.
Yuga was surprised to find Horsea among the Pokémon available for exchange at Dragon Shadow Day Care.
Among the Dragon-type Pokémon bred by the Dragon Tamer family, aside from the well-known but rarely seen Dratini, the most famous was undoubtedly Kingdra.
Wild Horsea, Seadra, and Kingdra all inhabited deep-sea areas, making them challenging to capture. Furthermore, for Seadra to evolve into Kingdra, it required Dragon Scales, making wild Kingdra even rarer than the wild starter Pokémon trio.
While Seadra had Dragon-type blood, it wasn't considered a Dragon-type Pokémon, so the Horsea born from them wouldn't be as strong as those born from Kingdra and their innate talents would be significantly reduced.
If one wanted Horsea with the purest Dragon-type blood, they would have to look to the ones bred by the Dragon Tamer family.
The Dragon Tamer family placed great importance on the Dragon-type bloodline in Dragon-type Pokémon, which was related to their unique ability, Dragon Force. Therefore, most of their Horsea were descendants of Kingdra.
"How about it? Our Horsea is pretty impressive, right? They won't be inferior to your Trapinch."
When it came to their own Horsea, Belindo couldn't help but feel a bit proud.
"It's indeed an excellent Pokémon," Yuga sincerely praised.
He thought that once his system tasks were completed, the Dragon Den Sub-Ecopark would open, and at this point, importing some Dragon-type Pokémon seemed like a good choice.
Whether paired with Gyarados or Milotic, Kingdra could produce offspring, so there should be no problem using them as breeding stock.
