Chapter 511: Breaking the Stalemate
Chapter 511: Breaking the Stalemate
Seeing the five Pokémon surrounding it once again, Cofagrigus arrogantly exclaimed, "Do you think you can do anything to me with just a few of you? You\'re too naive!"
This Cofagrigus had existed for centuries, nearly a millennium, and its abilities were countless. If it weren\'t for being sealed away for so long, it would have been impossible for two Elite level Pokémon and three pseudo-Elite level Pokémon to confront it on equal terms.
Ignoring Cofagrigus\'s fury, Gengar\'s Dark Pulse, Mismagius\'s Mystic Fire, Chandelure and Volcarona\'s massive Flamethrower, and Noctowl\'s Hot Air all rushed toward the central Cofagrigus.
Cofagrigus, with four elongated arms, pulled them together in front of itself and unleashed a Omnious Wind. A black wind formed a colossal tornado centered on Cofagrigus, dispersing all incoming flames and energy attacks.
Once their attacks were thwarted, Cofagrigus\'s eyes glowed blue, and five blue beams shot out from its eyes, rapidly landing on Chandelure and its allies. Immediately, Chandelure\'s group felt their strength being drained.
However, Yuga recognized that Cofagrigus was using a Power Split move, evenly distributing the base Special Attack power of all the Pokémon on the field.
Cofagrigus\'s innate Special Attack wasn\'t as high as Gengar\'s, Mismagius\'s, Chandelure\'s, and Volcarona\'s. The latter were primarily attackers, while Cofagrigus was a defensive Pokémon. Now that their base Special Attack power was equalized, they all had the same stat.
But Cofagrigus had more level bonuses and other enhancements compared to Chandelure\'s group. Originally, with a lower base Special Attack, Cofagrigus\'s level bonuses already made its Special Attack stronger than the others. Now, after equalization, it meant that Cofagrigus, which was already formidable, became even stronger.
Yuga hadn\'t anticipated this move from Cofagrigus, and his Insight ability couldn\'t decipher Cofagrigus\'s situation. This made the task of dealing with Cofagrigus even more challenging.
With enhanced Special Attack power, Cofagrigus was shrouded in black mist. Dark Pulse burst from it, once again exploding like fireworks centered on Cofagrigus. They launched indiscriminate attacks against all the Pokémon present, including Yuga.
These Dark Pulse moved at an incredible speed. Except for the relatively strong Volcarona and Noctowl, who narrowly avoided them, Gengar, Mismagius, Chandelure, and even Yuga were instantly struck.
Watching the approaching Dark Pulse about to hit him, Yuga quickly released Absol and Florges.
As soon as Florges emerged, she positioned herself in front of Yuga. Extending her arms forward, she formed a multicolored barrier of Dazzling Gleam that absorbed all incoming Dark Pulse.
Meanwhile, Absol used its front legs to stomp the ground, causing blue rocky pillars to shoot up, blocking the remaining Dark Pulse. However, these stone pillars shattered upon impact.
"Florges, Absol, thank you," Yuga expressed his gratitude as he watched the blocked attacks. Florges and Absol nodded in response, their expressions turning serious as they observed the frenzied Cofagrigus in the sky.
After being struck down by Cofagrigus, Gengar, Mismagius, and Chandelure took flight again, struggling to evade the ongoing firework-like Dark Pulse.
"Mismagius, Chandelure, use Pain Split," Yuga commanded.
Since Mismagius and Chandelure had been hit by Cofagrigus\'s attacks, they were injured. Yuga considered the fact that Cofagrigus was still full of vitality and thought about this skill, which evenly distributed their health.
Unfortunately, only Mismagius and Chandelure knew this technique. It was as challenging to learn as Cofagrigus\'s Power Split move. Gengar had once attempted to learn it from Mismagius but with limited success.
Upon hearing Yuga\'s command, Mismagius and Chandelure dodged Cofagrigus\'s attacks while simultaneously casting a blue beam each, connecting them to Cofagrigus\'s body.
However, the anomalies on their bodies were quickly noticed by Cofagrigus. Its eyes glowed blue, and the two blue beams connecting to it shattered one by one, causing the Pain Split used by Mismagius and Chandelure to fail.
Yuga hadn\'t anticipated that Cofagrigus\'s strength had grown to the point where it could unilaterally sever the Pain Split link.
His heart sank.
His mind raced, searching for a way to suppress Cofagrigus because without doing so, the method Mismagius had told him about wouldn\'t work.
Beside Yuga, Absol and Florges wore equally anxious expressions. They could only watch the intense battle in the sky unfold, feeling helpless.
Facing the Cofagrigus currently in full rampage mode, Volcarona and its companions could only dodge its attacks while trying to harass Cofagrigus. They couldn\'t do much else, and Cofagrigus delighted in toying with them.
Just as Yuga was brainstorming a solution, the Unown, who had disappeared earlier, reappeared.
Seeing these Unown, Volcarona was overjoyed. It communicated something to the Unown, and they shuddered before flying above the shattered ritual circle.
The central part of the damaged ritual circle was completely shattered, with only two circles on the periphery still intact.
The Unown had originally been embedded between these two circles.
After reaching above the ritual circle, the Unown formed a circle themselves, emitting a blue glow. Following their lead, the two circles on the ritual circle also emitted blue light.
The Unown then transformed back into runic symbols and re-embedded themselves within the two circles.
Suddenly, the circles with the Unown released a massive beam of light, enveloping the hovering Cofagrigus.
Sensing the suction force of the beam, Cofagrigus struggled frantically.
"You fools! The seal has already been broken! You can\'t contain me now! Do you want to die?" Cofagrigus shouted angrily at the Unown.
Indeed, the shattered ritual circle could no longer confine the current Cofagrigus. However, their goal wasn\'t to reseal Cofagrigus but merely to temporarily suppress it.
