Chapter 554: Blue Halo
Chapter 554: Blue Halo
Yuga nodded happily at the words and then activated his Insight skill, turning his gaze towards the herds of Sawsbuck and Deerling.
Luckily, he possessed the Insight skill; otherwise, with so many Sawsbuck and Deerling around, he might have had a hard time choosing.
No matter how he thought about it, Yuga felt that Virizion might be setting him up. It didn\'t know Yuga had the Insight skill, and for an ordinary person, it would be impossible to gain any advantage.
Yuga scanned through the Sawsbuck and Deerling one by one, noticing that there were indeed many high potential Pokémon in this population. Perhaps because they had lived with Legendary Pokémon for years, the overall potential of the Pokémon in this group was higher than that of typical Pokémon populations.
Yuga had witnessed Legendary Pokémon like Ho-oh, Marshadow, and Celebi help other Pokémon improve their potential. It didn\'t make sense that Virizion couldn\'t do the same.
However, despite the abundance of high potential Pokémon, Yuga couldn\'t find any with indigo potential, and the ones with blue potential were also quite rare.
After searching for a while, he did spot a few Sawsbuck and Deerling with blue potential, but he wasn\'t entirely satisfied.
Two of the Deerling looked good, but their potential had just reached the blue level. The Sawsbuck emitted a strong blue light, but Yuga didn\'t particularly want to capture a Sawsbuck.
Yuga was about to become a Gym Trainer, and to truly live up to his title as a Grass-type Trainer, he planned to raise several Grass-type Pokémon as his main team. Four Grass-type Pokémon alone wouldn\'t be enough to establish his reputation as a Grass-type Trainer.
Compared to fully developed Pokémon like Sawsbuck, Yuga was more interested in raising a Deerling step by step from the scratch. It wasn\'t about being picky; Yuga simply wanted the sense of accomplishment that came from nurturing his own Pokémon.
It wasn\'t that Yuga lacked strong Pokémon; he had a roster of powerful ones, including pseydo-Elite level Pokémon like Audino, Great Flygon, Gengar, Mismagius, Chandelure, Vespiquen, the Elite level Pokémon like Noctowl and Volcarona and even a Champion level Dragonite sleeping in his Ecopark whose strength is comparable to those Legendary Pokémon.
If he needed combat power, these Pokémon could easily meet his requirements. Since he didn\'t lack strong Pokémon, Yuga wanted to train his main team from the ground up, a feeling of achievement that came from using Pokémon he raised himself.
Using pre-trained Pokémon and using ones he personally raised gave him entirely different senses of accomplishment. This was why Yuga didn\'t include Gengar and Mismagius in his main team despite their formidable strength.
Although he knew that he was being a bit particular, Yuga couldn\'t help but follow his own preferences.
Unable to find a satisfactory Pokémon, Yuga looked at Virizion with a troubled expression.
"May I go and see where the Pokémon eggs are stored?" Yuga asked.
Virizion looked puzzled, "Aren\'t any of these Sawsbuck and Deerling satisfactory to you?"
Yuga shook his head.
"You humans are truly strange," Virizion remarked, unaware that Yuga possessed the Insight skill.
Virizion called out to Spring, who was standing nearby, and instructed Spring to lead Yuga to where the Sawsbuck herd stored their unhatched Pokémon eggs.
Spring walked over from Winter\'s side and signaled for Yuga to follow. Together, they went to the place where the Pokémon eggs were kept.
The eggs of Sawsbuck and Deerling were placed in nests woven from twigs, leaves, and grass. There were a great many eggs, and many Deerling stood guard nearby. They were there to protect their offspring from any potential threats, as Pokémon eggs represented the future of their herd.
Spring and the guarding Deerling muttered a few words, and the leading guard nodded, clearing a path for Yuga to enter.
Yuga\'s gaze fell upon the haphazardly arranged Pokémon eggs, and as soon as he activated his Insight skill, a rainbow of colors greeted his eyes.
These eggs came in various colors, including red, orange, yellow, green, and blue, with red and orange being the most numerous, followed by yellow and green. However, there were only three or four eggs with blue potential, and none with indigo potential.
However, there was one blue potential Pokémon egg placed in a corner that stood out among all the eggs. Yuga noticed it immediately, especially the indigo halo that surrounded the edge of the blue light.
This was an egg with potential comparable to the one that once belonged to Roserade.
(Note : Roserade potential is pseudo-Indigo)
This egg was likely the one with the best potential among all these eggs.
The eggs of Sawsbuck and Deerling in the herd were managed collectively, so when these eggs were mixed together, not even they themselves knew which egg belonged to which pair of Deerling or Sawsbuck.
When Yuga picked up this egg radiating the blue halo, neither the guarding Deerling nor Spring, who was waiting nearby, reacted specially. It seemed they were unaware of the egg\'s uniqueness.
After selecting the Pokémon egg that met his requirements, Yuga followed Spring away from the egg storage area, cradling the egg gently in his hands, feeling very satisfied.
At this moment, a tiny head with a sapling sprout on its head poked out from Yuga\'s chest. It gazed at the Pokémon egg in Yuga\'s hands with curious, wide eyes, and then it licked the egg with its tongue before looking up at Yuga with a joyful expression.
Because Turtwig was still very young, Yuga didn\'t rush to put it into a Poké Ball. Its size was petite, so Yuga simply carried it with him.
Seeing the adorable sight of Turtwig, Yuga introduced, "This is a Deerling baby. Once it hatches, you two can become good friends."
"Turtwig, Turtwig!"
Upon hearing Yuga\'s words, Turtwig was extremely delighted, and its eyes shone even brighter when it looked at the Deerling egg.
Seeing Yuga return with the egg in his arms, Virizion spoke up, "After all that time, you chose an egg like this?"
Yuga\'s actions puzzled Virizion greatly because the egg Yuga had chosen was inconspicuous. Without Yuga\'s Insight skill, it looked no different from the ordinary red, orange, and yellow-green potential eggs.
"Yes, this egg is very good, and I like it," Yuga replied with a smile.
Virizion nodded in response to Yuga\'s words, deciding not to inquire further. If Yuga was satisfied with it, that was what mattered.
"Follow me; I\'ll show you the other compensations," Virizion said, and Yuga nodded, carrying the egg and following behind Virizion.
They walked together to a cliffside covered in caves, and Yuga saw an Aerodactyls flying around in the sky.
Upon spotting Yuga, these Aerodactyls immediately revealed menacing expressions, but when they saw Virizion by Yuga\'s side, they abruptly stopped their aerial movements and nervously flew away.
"This is where I reside," Virizion indicated with its head towards the cliffside.
Yuga looked ahead and saw countless caves on the cliffside, some with Aerodactyls poking their heads out curiously, looking at Yuga and Virizion.
This was Virizion\'s residence? Wasn\'t it supposed to be the Aerodactyls\' dwelling place?
