Chapter 281: Tauros Vs Absol
Chapter 281: Tauros Vs Absol
Gyarados, injured from the collision, found itself not only physically harmed but also confused. Despite learning a new move, it was unaware of its newfound ability as it was using it instinctively. While Gyarados struggled to regain control of its mind and body, Venusaur seized the opportunity to unleash a series of three consecutive moves.
First, Venusaur employed \'Sunny Day\' to intensify the existing sunlight. The once stormy sky transformed into a bright, sunny afternoon, amplifying the power of Venusaur\'s abilities. Sensing the need for restoration, Venusaur followed up with a \'Synthesis\' move, healing itself. Having perfected \'Sunny Day\' and \'Synthesis\' at level 39, Venusaur was capable of fully replenishing its HP and preparing for the next round.
After \'Synthesis\', Venusaur utilized \'Poison Powder\' to inflict confusion upon Gyarados. Thankfully, the move succeeded in poisoning Gyarados. Lastly, Venusaur launched a \'Leech Seed\' attack towards Gyarados, aiming to drain its energy.
Unfortunately, Gyarados managed to recover from its confusion just in time to dodge the attack. Though Venusaur\'s victory was not secured, it had unquestionably shifted the battle\'s momentum in its favor. The \'Grassy Terrain\', in combination with Venusaur\'s passive healing abilities, allowed it to gradually recover HP.
The battle continued for another five intense minutes. Gyarados unleashed powerful moves like \'Hyper Beam\', \'Hydro Pump\', and even \'Icicle Spear\' managing to land some hits. However, Venusaur skillfully employed \'Synthesis\' to restore its health, nullifying Gyarados\'s attacks.
Gyarados, in turn, faced the wrath of Venusaur\'s \'Solar Beam\' which required no charging time thanks to the persistent \'Sunny Day\'. Additionally, Venusaur utilized moves like \'Razor Leaf\', \'Grass Pledge\', and \'Sludge Bomb\' to wear down its opponent.
After an arduous and grueling battle, Gyarados was defeated, emitting a painful roar before fainting.
"ROARRRR..."
The echo of Gyarados\'s roar filled the air, signaling its temporary defeat. Axel, the trainer, was taken aback by the profound impact Venusaur\'s moves had on the outcome of the fight. Gyarados, despite being an experienced combatant, had allowed its pride and anger to cloud its judgment, resulting in its loss.
"Venusaur emerges victorious. Now, the battle between Absol and Tauros shall commence," Axel announced.
However, an unexpected turn of events unfolded.
Gyarados abruptly regained consciousness, emitting another resounding roar.
ROARRRRRR...
---
Ding!
Gyarados is ranking up. Do you want to extend the rank up?
---
The scene seemed surreal—Gyarados refused to surrender. Determined to win the battle, it pushed itself to the limit, opting to undergo a rank up process. Axel had initially considered extending the rank up due to Gyarados\'s exceptional stats and mastery of abilities and hidden abilities, but witnessing Gyarados\'s unwavering determination, he couldn\'t bring himself to prolong the process.
With a resolute decision, he chose "No."
---
Ding!
Gyarados is ranking up.
---
The rank up process lasted for five minutes, during which Gyarados regained control over its emotions, gradually stabilizing itself. Finally, Axel examined Gyarados\'s updated statistics:

The updated set of moves proved to be formidable. Most of the moves were on the brink of reaching level 39, and the newly acquired move was highly practical for Gyarados. It allowed Gyarados to soar through the air, but further mastery was required to utilize it to its full potential.
However, Venusaur had already won and even though Gyarados had ranked up, it was in no position to battle again.
Axel proceeded to administer potions to both Venusaur and Gyarados, ensuring their well-being. He had already requested the assistance of a Nurse Joy from the nearby Pokémon Center to attend to their needs, benefitting from the privileges of owning the forest, the military, and the town\'s school.
Absol and Tauros took their positions on the battlefield, ready to engage in their own battle.
###
"Let the battle begin!" Axel declared, signaling the commencement of the match.
Both Pokemons started by employing status moves. Tauros performed \'Swords Dance\' twice, while Absol utilized \'Hone Claws\' and \'Rock Polish\' once each. Although Tauros possessed greater natural speed, Absol relied on its cunning and strategic prowess.
\'Rock Polish\' was a newly acquired move specifically taught to enhance Absol\'s speed. Axel recognized the importance of Absol\'s agility and sought a move that could boost it. Luckily, Absol\'s hidden power typing was Rock, allowing it to learn \'Rock Polish\'.
Tauros initiated an \'Earthquake\', met by Absol\'s swift response with a \'Stone Edge\'. The ground trembled, momentarily trapping Absol, but it adeptly dodged the attack multiple times. Speed and raw power were not Absol\'s forte, prompting it to rely on its intelligence to secure victory. Axel had always emphasized the significance of using its intellect to survive—after all, Dark-type Pokemons were renowned for their strategic capabilities.
Despite successfully dodging the attack, Absol sustained minor injuries. Undeterred, it closed in on Tauros with astounding speed, facilitated by the effects of \'Rock Polish\'. While still not as fast as Tauros, Absol managed to narrow the gap between them significantly. A dark aura enveloped Absol as it struck Tauros with its horn, employing the move \'Assurance\'.
\'Assurance\' was a move that doubled in power if the user had been previously hit. Although the move wasn\'t fully mastered yet, resulting in a mere 20% power increase, this intentional damage had allowed Absol to capitalize on the boost. Tauros had anticipated Absol\'s strategy, having trained extensively with it and familiarized itself with all of Absol\'s moves.
In response to Absol\'s charge, Tauros employed its horns as a defensive measure. It sustained minor injuries, but now it was in close proximity to Absol, creating an opportune moment for Tauros to launch its counterattack.
Utilizing \'Double Team\' and conjuring two additional illusionary versions of itself, Tauros created a total of three manifestations. Two illusionary Tauros prepared to attack, while the real Tauros readied itself for another task. \'Double Team\' had been Tauros\'s favorite move among its repertoire. Axel remained puzzled as to why it held such an affinity for this particular move.
Learning \'Double Team\' hadn\'t been an easy feat, taking Tauros three days of intense training even with the assistance of a TM. It had trained his move a lot leveling it to level 40 which was extremely admirable.
Reaching level 40 allowed Tauros to accomplish two significant milestones. First, it could create two illusionary versions of itself, resulting in three Tauros moving at incredible speeds.
However, it was important to note that only one Tauros existed. Secondly, Tauros had mastered the move to such a high degree that the real Tauros could perform an additional action while the two illusionary versions distracted the opponent.
