Chapter 634: Arcanine Vs Togetic

"Now, let\'s welcome his competitor. You must have heard of him on many occasions. He is one of the most powerful trainers of his generation, the successor of the Pokemon master, Axel Blaze."

The crowd erupted after hearing Axel\'s name. For some unknown reason, the crowd just loved Axel. This must be due to his debut in the league battles or that he was a powerful trainer, but Axel was the crowd favorite.

Denvor\'s face changed while hearing the name of Axel. He didn\'t know the name or any details of his competitor till now but now he did and he was not loving it. He knew that Axel was famous but he was also a very powerful trainer.

Denvor literally had no chance to defeat Axel. He hoped to get to the quarterfinals or at least beat the preliminaries but his hopes were now crushed.

Axel went to the stage and waved just like Denvor but the crowd reaction was very different from before.

"Angie, who is this young man?"

"Your Highness, this is Axel Blaze, the current successor of Prof. Oak. He is a very powerful trainer and during the time of the league battle last time, he had shown that he had a tier 2 king rank Pokemon."

"Really, that is interesting. Could we do something to rope him in?"

"We could try but from what I have heard, he is a free spirit and doesn\'t like to be tied down. We may not be able to rope him in but we will give our best."

"Hmm.."

The referee came and then flipped the coin. Denvor called \'heads\' and it was \'tails\'. Denvor lost the coin flip.

"It looks like Denvor had lost the coin flip and now he had to take out his Pokemon first. Let\'s see what surprises he has for us.", said the announcer.

During the preliminary battles, a coin flip was important as one could only use 1 Pokemon and it was a knockout round. So, the loser had to call out his Pokemon first and the winner could counter it sending out the Pokemon that had type advantage.

Even though Denvor was going to lose, he was not going to lose so badly. He wanted to show Axel how good he really was.

"Come out !!!", shouted Denvor.

It was a dog-type Pokemon. It had diamond-shaped ears with beige insides, black eyes, a round, black nose, and two pointed teeth protruding from its upper jaw. Its head, muzzle, and chest were covered in shaggy, beige fur, except for two oval sections around each eye and ear. Long tufts of fur grow behind its elbows and around its ankles. Its underside was black, and it had a billowing, beige tail that was bent in the middle. Each paw had three toes and a round, pink pad.

It was Arcanine.

This Arcanine looked relatively bigger than its normal counterparts which showed that Denvor had been taking good care of his Pokemon. Axel thought that the battle would be boring but he may have some fun here.

Axel looked at the stats of Arcanine.

Axel was impressed after seeing the stats of Arcanine. First of all, its stats were stronger than Togetic. It was only 3 years old and it was so powerful. It was already a rare rank and a peak rare rank. It was in the process of ranking up to elemental rank.

"Come out Togetic!!", shouted Axel and an angelic Pokemon came out. Yes, Axel was going to use Togetic in this battle. As it could not battle in the gym, it had been pestering Axel to fight first in this tournament and now its wish had been granted.

"Togetic, this Arcanine is stronger than you but that doesn\'t mean that you are going to lose this battle. Just follow up my command and remember how we practiced."

Denvor felt a sigh of relief when Axel also used a rare rank Pokemon. Since this was a knockout round and a 1 Vs 1 Pokemon battle, if Togetic lost against Arcanine, he would win and Axel would be knocked out.

Axel must have been overconfident about only using a rare rank Pokemon against him, but he didn\'t care. He only cared about our victory.

"Angie, you said that the kid has a king-rank Pokemon. Why is he not using it?"

"I don\'t know your majesty. Maybe Axel wants to train his new Pokemons."

"Haha, that is interesting. Let\'s see the battle. I want to know how good he really is."

"Are you both ready for the battle?"

"Yes, we are ready!!" X2

"Let the battle begin!!!"

"Arcanine, first use \'Sunny day\' and then use \'Agility\'"

"Togetic, use \'Nasty plot\' and then use \'Wish\'", said Axel.

Both of them were getting ready for battle.

Arcanine was the first to complete both of its moves. \'Agility\' had increased its ridiculous speed to another level. The temperature of the surroundings had also increased.

"Arcanine, now use \'Heat wave\'"

"Togetic, use \'Crafty shield\' and then use \'Flamethrower\'"

\'Crafty shield\' would protect it with burning effect if it incurred one and \'Flamethrower\' and \'Heat wave\' clashed but \'Heat wave\' came out on top as Arcanine was a fire type Pokemon but it was just able to narrowly beat Togetic\'s Flamethrower.

There were 3 reasons for that. First of all, was its level of \'Flamethrower\' exceeding level 40 and second was due to \'Nasty plot\' which increased its special attack to a good level.

Arcanine started to use move \'Heat wave\' repeatedly which Axel just could not understand as he could see that Arcanine was a physical attacker. Togetic was told to dodge the move but some of them did try to hit it and Togetic had to use \'Egg defense\' to defend one attack. It could only use it one time.

Togetic was getting frustrated cause its trainer was only telling it to dodge the attack. It was able to use \'Nasty plot\' one more time and its special attack was very high now. It could only use this 2 times right now.

Axel was doing this for 2 reasons. First, he wanted to see how well Togetic would follow his commands. Togetic didn\'t like to take orders from others. It was arrogant and he wanted to see how good it would take orders when it needed it.

Togetic was already on the verge of going full throttle on the red dog but it knew that it could trust Axel and since this was the first battle at such a stage, it didn\'t want to mess it up.

Secondly, Axel wanted Arcanine to tire. It was stronger than Togetic and had a lot of stamina.

After using \'Heat wave\' many times and due to \'Sunny day\', the temperature of the surroundings had increased by a lot. There were literally fires surrounding Togetic now. The surrounding was filled with hard sand, rock, and cement.

"Arcanine, now use \'Scorching sand\' and \'Heat wave\' at full power."

"Togetic, now use \'Metronome\' and use \'Dazzling gleam\' to protect yourself."

After listening to that it was going to attack, Togetic immediately used \'Metronome\'. \'Metronome\' was a tricky move to deal with. It would use any random move and the power of the move would also not be so high as the original move.

However, due to Togetic\'s ability \'Serene Grace\', it could be a lifesaver. Axel had realized that if he wanted to activate the \'Serene Grace\' of Togetic, Togetic must be in a very bad situation. So, he told Togetic to take some damage and continuously dodge the attacks.

This was his 3rd reason and the trick worked.

When Togetic used the move \'Sarene Grace\', black clouds started to form and then it started to rain. Since the move was not as powerful as the original, it was not able to totally cover the harsh sunlight but it did rain.

After that, Togetic gathered a lot of fairy-type energy to make a shield for itself. This was the upgrade version of \'Dazzling Gleam\' and thank the Arceus that it did that because when Arcanine used \'Scorching sands\', it jumped on the ground with a loud BOOM, and then hot sands started to surround itself and Togetic and then it used \'Heat wave\'.

This \'Heat wave\' was nothing like before. After using this move so many times, the this move created a hot fiery atmosphere in the surroundings and the temperature increased to a very high degree. The stadium looked partially red due to the fiery atmosphere and all those burning sands traveled through this fiery atmosphere to Togetic.

Togetic was able to defend some of them with its \'Dazzling Gleam\' and due to rain, its power had decreased quite a lot but it was still a powerful move. This was what trainers called a chain attack.

Denvor had been meticulously planning this attack from the start of the battle.

"Togetic, blast it out now.", shouted Axel.

The \'Dazzling Gleam\' had been concentrated around Togetic making it like a shield and Togetic let it all out and then...

BOOOM!!!

A huge explosion occurred. The fiery atmosphere was gone and the rain had also started to stop. No one could see what had happened as there was dust and smoke all over the stadium.

When the dust and smoke cleared, everyone could see that Arcanine and Togetic were standing staring at each other. Both of them were hurt.

Axel told \'Togetic\' to use \'Wish\' to recover some health while Denvor also told Arcanine to use \'Morning sun\' to recover its health.

"Arcanine now use \'Flare Blitz\'."

"Togetic, use \'Extrasensory\' and then use \'Fairy wind\' and \'Aerial ace\'"

An aura of fire covered Arcanine as it started to run towards \'Togetic\'. Axel came to realize that Togetic should also have some weather move as this \'Sunny day\' was really helping Arcanine a lot.

It also knew \'Sunny day\' but it was not a fire-type Pokemon.

When Arcanine was coming near to Togetic, it used \'Extrasensory\'. It was an unsealable power that basically worked like Telekinesis. It would pick the target up and then smash them down.

However, since Arcanine was running at such a high speed, it could not do it but it was able to trip Arcanine from its path as it crashed to the ground due to imbalance.

This was a move that Axel and Togetic had been working on for a long time. If a target with good physical powers were to charge at Togetic, when what would it do? It was a special attacker, it needed to have some good countermoves. Enter: \'Extrasensory\'.

Due to it having \'Sarene Grace\', Arcanine flinched at it and momentarily paused for some time and Togetic took advantage of that. It used \'Fairy wind\' which disturbed it even moved and then used \'Aerial ace\' which Arcanine dodged. But Togetic was also able to use \'Thunder wave\' which paralyzed Arcanine successfully.

Arcanine was now at the mercy of Togetic and the table had turned.
