Chapter 223 Briefing
In response, a representative from each group nodded, prompting Tryndall to nod back as he then shifted his gaze towards the group of four. "I also don\'t have to introduce Valyr to you four, no? With your group\'s work ethic, I\'m certain that the four of you have already obtained information on Valyr\'s identity."
At those words, the four that had just arrived nodded in unison, with Valyr being the only one clueless as to who the four were out of all of them. Fortunately, this lack of knowledge regarding the four would be quickly fixed with Tryndall\'s next words.
"Since that\'s the case, then that only leaves you, Valyr," Tryndall told him, to which Valyr nodded in response. "You\'ve already been acquainted with the assassins during the last time all of us worked together, so let me introduce the four to you. Of course, considering the limited time we have, I\'ll only do a brief introduction as to who they are."
"These four in front of you is well-known in the Adventurer\'s Guild as the Reaper Group." As Tryndall introduced the identity of the four to Valyr, the latter committed the man\'s words to memory, nodding every once in a while. "Just like what their name suggests, the Reaper Group specializes in assassination missions, being one of the only few groups in the Adventurer\'s Guild that boasts an over 80% success rate in completing such missions."
"Aside from that, the members of the group are all at the peak of Rank 1, which is why I\'ve enlisted their help for this operation this time around."
After exchanging a few pleasantries with those from the Reaper Group, eliciting those from the Reaper Group to nod in response, Valyr posed a question to Tryndall, a question that had surfaced in his mind while he was listening to the latter\'s explanation. "You said that the Reaper Group specializes in assassination missions, right?"
"That is correct." Tryndall nodded.
"Doesn\'t that seem like something the Mercenary Guild would do instead?" As these words escaped Valyr\'s mouth, he recalled what he knew about the Adventurer and the Mercenary Guild.
Though they were more or less the same in terms of structure, being guilds made for people of all classes, the part of society they chose to undertake were vastly different from one another.
From what Valyr knew, the Adventurer Guild would mostly accept missions that were inclined towards doing good, such as protecting a village from a monster tide, or aiding to find a lost person. On the other hand, the Mercenary Guild\'s missions were somewhat inclined towards having to get one\'s hands dirty, with assassination missions being quite a commonly found mission in the guild.
In response to his question, Tryndall looked at the two groups for a bit before letting out a light chuckle, with Douglas even briefly flashing a light smile at him. Nodding, Tryndall responded to Valyr\'s question. "That\'s definitely something the Mercenary Guild specializes in. However, that does not mean that the Adventurer\'s Guild doesn\'t undertake assassination missions, and vice versa."
"With that being said, the Reaper Group was actually a group that originated from the Mercenary Guild," Tryndall told Valyr, causing the latter to swiftly put two and two together in his mind. "But because of their high talent, as well as the fact that the Mercenary Guild already had their hands full with their own set of talents, the Reaper Group was poached by the Adventurer\'s Guild, turning into the group that they are today."
At that, Valyr could only nod his head in understanding. "Now that I have a better idea of how much influence you wield in the Adventurer\'s Guild, you scare me more and more."
"Let\'s save that discussion for later, Valyr." In response, Tryndall gave him a knowing smile before redirecting the topic back to the main reason why all of them had gathered. "For now, let me talk about our plan for this operation."
"For the most part, the operation is similar to the previous one, which is to track the movements of the five people that we\'ve confirmed is the Clossbay Killer." At these words, everyone nodded in understanding, prompting Tryndall to continue explaining. "However, unlike the previous one, rather than watch the scene unfold by the side, we\'ll be catching them in the act, apprehending them before interrogating them regarding the whole situation."
"That\'s where you four shall come in." Tryndall looked at the Reaper Group, who merely nodded in response. "In this case, the four of you will split up and accompany an assassin to track and apprehend one of the suspects."
"Are there any problems with that?" Seeing that the four shook their heads in response to his question, a light smile soon appeared on Tryndall\'s face.
"I\'ll be relying on you four to apprehend four of the five suspects." Saying these words, he then shifted his gaze towards Valyr, who had a knowing smile on his face, already having an idea of what was going to happen this time around.
Noticing Valyr\'s smile, Tryndall could not help but smile as well. "I guess I don\'t have to tell you what the two of us are gonna do."
"I can read you like an open book, Tryndall." Valyr chuckled before pondering over something for a bit in silence. "Considering that the members of the Reaper Group are all at the peak of Rank 1, I presume we\'ll be working together to apprehend the last remaining suspect to compensate for the lack in combat power?"
"That\'s exactly what we\'re going to do." At these words, the various groups talked with one another for a while to sort out a few misunderstandings that arose during the briefing of the entire operation. Once everyone was certain that there was no misunderstandings anymore, Tryndall took center stage once more, catching everyone\'s attention.
"Just like before, we\'ll be messaging one another through the party chat to make sure no one follows us through our voice. Oh, and also, make sure to update everyone regarding what\'s happening on your side. Got it?"
With everyone nodding in response to Tryndall\'s words, the latter nodded back as a solemn expression covered his face.
"Alright then."
"It\'s time for us to get to work."
