Chapter 664 Four Pillars: The Center
Chapter 664 Four Pillars: The Center
Utilizing [False Wings of the Shadow Wyvern] rather than [Traceless Slither] in heading to each of the quadrants, it went without saying that the young man did not take long to go from one quadrant to another quadrant.
Aside from that, he did not have to maneuver around the primitive humanoids within the vicinity of the quadrant leader to obtain the information he needed.
Instead, he approached the quadrant leader from a high-enough altitude where he wouldn\'t be noticed by any of the beings below.
Only after he was certain that he had not alerted his presence to any of the beings did he use his identification skill on the quadrant leaders, committing their status screens to memory.
With how simple the task was and how swift [False Wings of the Shadow Wyvern] was when it came to movement, Valyr had yet to receive an update from the others regarding their progress on reaching 1,000 kills.
"Hmm?" Just as he was about to head to the south quadrant since that was where they usually gathered, the young man slowed down his flight for a bit as he passed over a part of the city ruins that he had yet to come across.
"The center of the city ruins," muttered Valyr to himself as he gazed below.
Unlike the four quadrants that made up the periphery of the city ruins, the state of the city ruins\' center seemed to be better off and worse off at the same time.
It was better off compared to the four quadrants in terms of appearance, considering that almost all of the buildings within the center seemed to have been left untouched.
In a way, it looked as if the beings that used to reside within those buildings had just all gone on a vacation.
On the other hand, the buildings within the four quadrants were in varying states of disrepair, with a memorable example lingering in Valyr\'s mind being the building he had come across in the south quadrant.
Then again, the center of the city ruins was worse off when it came to the beings that roamed around the area.
If the four quadrants were filled to the brim with primitive humanoids at the peak of Rank 4 and quadrant leaders well into the levels of Rank 5…
Then the center of the city ruins housed beings that were a step above in every way.
Almost all of the beings Valyr could see from afar passively radiated auras that solidly placed them around the late levels to the peak of Rank 5. If anything, it felt as if Valyr was looking at hundreds of quadrant leaders at once.
Nevertheless, the auras these beings radiated were no match to the strongest being that resided within the center of the city ruins, its passive aura alone making him shudder with dread.
\'A Myth…\' thought Valyr to himself, gradually shifting his gaze towards the being that had emanated the tyrannical aura he felt.
Coincidentally, at the very moment he laid his eyes upon that being, the being had seemingly sensed the gaze and stared back in the direction of the young man.
Not wanting to mess with a Myth in his current state, he swiftly averted his gaze and flapped his wings with even greater force as he looked around the center of the city ruins for a bit more.
"What the…?" Eventually, after exploring every nook and cranny that the city ruins\' center had to offer, the young man gradually noticed a peculiar area within, noting the fact that the area was devoid of any of the beings that regularly roamed the place.
Not only that, but he also noticed after a bit more flight that the Myth level being seemed to position itself far away from the barren area, as if it was afraid of what lied within.
Reducing his altitude to get a better look of what the barren spot looked like, Valyr was soon greeted by the sight of a large barrier coming into view.
"I see." Nodding in understanding at the very moment he saw the large barrier, the young man then moved a bit closer towards the barrier as he wanted to get a better look of what was inside the barren area.
Fwoosh!
Surprisingly though, once he had gotten close enough to the large barrier, the large barrier disappeared in the area where he generally hovered, causing a perplexed expression to appear on the young man\'s face.
Though, in the end, he decided to enter the barren area anyway due to how there looked to be no danger within the area whatsoever.
Then again, there was also the fact that there was a statue of a human at the center of the area that gave him the feeling that he had seen it somewhere before.
Swoosh!
Dispelling the pair of wings on his back, Valyr went ahead and made his way towards the human statue as he faintly wondered to himself why it gave him a familiar feeling.
While doing so, he maintained vigilance towards his surroundings, looking around every once in a while to make sure that there were indeed no dangers within the area.
"Why\'s a place like this in the center of the city ruins?" Finding it odd that there really was no danger within the barren area whatsoever, the young man began to ask a few questions to himself.
"Aside from that… why did the barrier partly dispel itself to let me enter?"
As these questions continued to linger within the young man\'s mind, Valyr eventually arrived at in front of the statue, getting a close-up look at who the statue was portraying.
Though the statue was a glossy black all over, it could not hide the strikingly handsome features of the man the statue was based off of.
Sporting a relaxed grin, the statue wore what seemed to be a long-sleeved polo and a pair of pants as it stared at a distance far into the sky.
Just as he was wondering who this statue was referencing, the young man eventually took note of a plaque engraved with characters near the statue\'s feet.
Though, at the very moment he had done so, a sound he had not expected to hear echoed within his mind, prompting him to blank out for a bit as he took a look at the notification he had received.
Ding!
