Chapter 855 Four Pillars: Special Case
Chapter 855 Four Pillars: Special Case
\'Speaking of which… I should really find the time to take a look at the staff,\' thought Valyr to himself as the memory came to mind, inwardly adorning a bitter smile on his face as he thought about how he had not taken a look at Sellifer\'s weapon all this time.
Faintly shaking his head as he pushed the thought aside for the meantime, the young man refocused his attention towards the man before him.
Thinking about what Vaughn had said to him just now, a trace of confusion appeared on Valyr\'s face. "Why the rush? It\'s not like I would decide to give up on entering the Gates of Transcendence after putting in this much effort."
"I know." Vaughn nodded in agreement. "But that\'s not the reason why I said those words."
Pointing at the young man with a calm expression, he continued, "Instead, you\'re the reason, especially with what\'s happening in Veldanyr at the moment."
Whoosh!
As those words left Vaughn\'s mouth, the man conjured a rift that allowed Valyr to obtain a bird\'s eye view of what was going on in the outside world at the moment.
Though the events that were unfolding on the other side of the rift were happening at a speed equivalent to the difference in time between the two areas, it did not take long for the young man\'s expression to turn grim as he realized what was happening.
"The orcs…" murmured Valyr, continuing to look at the rift for a bit more as he thought about the decisions the other four have made.
From what started off as a small skirmish between the orcs and one of the kingdoms, it had expanded to cover multiple kingdoms by the time a few months had passed since the five of them had entered the inheritance.
Now that he had spent a total of nine months in the inheritance, the state of the war had seemingly worsened as the Meltierre Empire from their side had finally gotten embroiled in the war as well.
Watching as the humans continued to fight against the orcs from afar, the expression on Valyr\'s face turned more grim as it clicked in his mind that the sight before him was part of the reason why the War of the Three Sovereignties happened in his past life.
Reminding himself of his ultimate goal in his current life, the young man felt an urge to go through the rift to head back to the outside world.
Though, recalling all of the efforts he had put to get to where he was thus far, the young man let out a long exhale as he suppressed such urges for the meantime.
Taking in a deep breath to compose himself, Valyr watched as Vaughn closed the rift, his expression at that point returning to its previous calm.
"A day in here is equivalent to two weeks in the outside world," said Vaughn all of a sudden. "Through the past couple of weeks you and your group have spent in this place, you have more or less gone through all of what the inheritance has to offer with great efficiency."
"Because of that, all of you have gained a lot from the inheritance, far greater than what even the past groups had gained from the inheritance combined."
"But with the survival of the human race being threatened as we speak, I\'m afraid we\'ll have to speed a few things up."
After saying those words, Vaughn extended one of his hands towards Valyr, gesturing to the latter to hold onto it. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
In response, the young man tightly gripped onto his hand, prompting a faint smile to appear on Vaughn\'s face after feeling Valyr make use of all the strength in his body.
Inwardly chuckling at the young man\'s actions, a wave of energy soon burst out of Vaughn\'s body, causing both him and Valyr to be propelled into the skies.
Whoosh!
With the sight before them instantly transforming into a bird\'s eye view of the Gates of Awakening, Valyr\'s eyes widened in surprise as he briefly admired the sight before them.
Swoosh!
Though, not long after, the two of them plunged down towards a spot far below the courtyard, traversing a distance that would have taken Valyr days in a matter of seconds.
Feeling a bit of nausea from having his insides be aggressively moved about throughout that short flight, Valyr gave himself some time to recuperate before taking a look at his surroundings.
Wondering why Vaughn had brought him to what felt like the base of the mountain where the Gates of Awakening was situated on, the young man immediately obtained his answer as he looked at the large jade door before the two of them.
"Is this…" Feeling a sense of closeness towards the door, Valyr looked at Vaughn for confirmation.
In response, Vaughn nodded back, urging the young man to move forward. "Indeed, it is."
"The entrance to the Gates of Transcendence."
Nodding at those words, Valyr took a few steps forward, only to stop as he felt that the current situation didn\'t add up.
"Wait a second… don\'t I need to go through trials or anything? Show the Gates of Transcendence that I\'m a worthy member?" Turning around to look back at Vaughn, the young man asked this question, basing it off his experiences with the two other organizations thus far.
"This one\'s different." Vaughn shook his head. "With how you\'re the only one among your group that could enter the place, there\'s no need to go through trials anymore."
"Wait, that doesn\'t make sense," replied Valyr back, even though he continued to move closer to the entrance. "Shouldn\'t the organizations making up the Triad Gates have similar protocols to which beings could enter the organization or not?"
"That\'s normally the case." Vaughn agreed. "But to sum things up, our current situation is a special case."
"Does it have something to do with the fact that we\'re rushing through it because of the war with the orcs?" asked Valyr.
"Somewhat," said Vaughn, tilting his head left and right. "That\'s definitely a good reason why we\'re not going through usual protocol."
"But the real reason why we\'re not going to go through all that is that I\'ve chosen you to inherit my position as the owner of this inheritance."
"…"
"…"
"…huh?"
