Chapter 1034: Mystia's Reasons
Chapter 1034: Mystia\'s Reasons
With his focus all on the words that left Mystia\'s mouth, it was no surprise that Valyr was immediately left at a loss for words after hearing that he was her third disciple.
Though he knew that he would benefit a lot if he were to become her third disciple, the young man remained skeptical, looking around the room for a bit before asking her to make sure.
"Is your third disciple in here at the moment?"
"Yeah." She nodded.
"Are they in some part of the room that I can\'t see?"
"No." Mystia shook her head as she briefly pointed at the young man. "I wouldn\'t have called you my third disciple for no reason, no?"
Of course, that response just confused Valyr even more, even though he was somewhat excited to become the disciple of the one called the Imperial Alchemist.
Nevertheless, that did not stop the questions about the current situation from lingering in his mind, making him wonder how he\'d become Mystia\'s third disciple, as well as why he chose him to be her disciple in the first place.
With curiosity consuming every part of his body, it did not take long for him to open his mouth and ask. "Pardon me for asking, Miss Mystia, but how did I even become your disciple in the first place?"
As those words left his mouth, the young man had an idea that the answer would be incredibly complex, similar to how he\'d become Noel\'s student after proving himself that he had the strength to wield Shadow Energy.
However, in reality, the answer that left her mouth was far from complex.
"Mystic Energy," replied Mystia as she juggled between having a conversation with Valyr while continuing to work on the concoction she was making. "Remember the pill and vial I gave you back in that auction?"
"The moment you gained the approval of the Mystic Plane and gained access to Mystic Energy was the exact moment you became my third disciple."
Unsurprisingly, Mystia\'s answer left the young man even more confused. "Wait... so does that mean Vera and Aloe underwent the same procedure as me to become your disciples?"
"More or less." Mystia nodded in response. "However, unlike your circumstances, where I had to go through a couple of hoops to give you Mystic Energy, I had them visit the Mystic Plane instead to let them gain the approval of the Overseer directly."
"Wait... then that means the Saintess I\'ve read in the notifications I got back then..."
"That was me, if you haven\'t figured it out already," said Mystia in response, prompting Valyr to go silent.
Of course, Valyr already had speculations from before that the woman before him was the Saintess of the Mystic Plane through the notifications he\'d gotten back then from consuming the items she gave him.
With that, the young man only felt a hint of relief after Mystia confirmed his speculations as fact.
However, as he thought about it for a bit more, he found it weird that someone like Mystia would be considered the Saintess of the Mystic Plane.
After all, the Saintess of the Shadow Plane, the Serpent Maiden, wielded a level of strength and knowledge that was on the realm of Divine-level beings, with the Overseer of the Shadow Plane possibly at a higher level than that.
On the other hand, from what he could sense while looking at her, Mystia was nowhere near that level.
Though he was curious as to why that was the case, the young man pushed the thought aside for the meantime, instead asking the other question that came up in his mind the moment Mystia called him her third disciple.
"Why me, though? Why choose me as your third disciple, Miss Mystia?"
"Sure, I may be a Zeihardt. Sure, I may have interacted with Vera before. Sure, I may have forged an artifact back then," said the young man, listing down the possible reasons why he\'d be chosen.
"But none of those have any connection to Mystic Energy whatsoever... so why?"
"Well, one of the reasons you\'ve given me is one of the reasons why I chose you." Letting out a sigh of relief as she completed the concoction she was making, it was only then did Mystia pay full attention to the young man, smiling as she looked at him.
"You\'re a Zeihardt, Valyr... specifically, a Herald."
"Didn\'t you call me a Harbinger back then?" asked Valyr back, only for Mystia to let out a chuckle in response.
"And here I thought you\'d continue denying it," said Mystia, causing Valyr to belatedly realize he\'d fallen into her word trap. "But yes, that\'s why I chose you... I\'m guessing you confirmed that fact for yourself along the way?"
In response, Valyr merely nodded, inwardly telling himself that talking about what he\'d gone through in the inheritance was better saved for another time.
With that, Mystia continued where she left off, listing down yet another reason why she chose him to become her disciple. "Aside from that, you seem to boast a level of knowledge that\'s far greater than what should be expected from your age."
"Knowledge on Reinforcement Elixirs and the forging process for artifacts are things that normal people don\'t really easily get access to."
"...Then again, you are a Zeihardt." Mystia slightly shrugged her shoulders. "Zeihardts have access to far greater information, especially if they\'re considered important to the clan." Faintly nodding in response, Valyr thought that Mystia had listed down all of the reasons she had in mind.
However, there was still one reason she had yet to mention to the young man.
"In any case, those reasons are minor in comparison to the main reason why I chose you," said Mystia, only to give Valyr a confident smile. "Your strength."
"My strength?" Valyr looked back at her in confusion.
"Your strength." Mystia reaffirmed that he did not hear her wrongly. "Though it may not seem like it, I\'ve been keeping a tab on the feats you\'ve achieved ever since you left the
inheritance."
"Fighting against a Rank 5 Epic to a standstill, killing a Legend-level Tidemother with just a couple of attacks... would any normal being at Rank 3 be able to do that?"
Slightly shuddering as he felt like he was being spied on without his consent once again, Valyr took in a deep breath as he summarized the information Mystia gave him. "In other words, you needed my strength, so I became your disciple?"
"Being my disciple is just a facade to make things easier to explain for others," said Mystia in response, only to release a great amount of iridescent energy throughout the room not long
after.
"If I were to be more specific, I\'m offering you to become the Guardian of the Mystic Plane."
