Chapter 1068: An Unexpected Change
Chapter 1068: An Unexpected Change
"I\'m afraid so," said Valyr with a wry smile, getting an idea of what was going on in Marcus\' mind.
After all, ever since he\'d appeared in the Mystic Plane, the plane had grown both in size and strength by leaps and bounds, allowing Marcus\' position as the Overseer to become stronger than ever before.
Even the fact that he\'d sacrificed a bit of his strength to give Valyr an additional subclass slot already seemed like a thing of the far past, considering that Marcus had already recovered a portion of his strength back.
Though both Mystia and Valyr were slightly surprised by this announcement, the two soon felt that it made sense once Marcus mentioned that their actions through the past few days had allowed the Mystic Plane to grow a bit more.
Of course, the growth was minuscule compared to the massive contribution Valyr brought to the plane after becoming its Guardian, but it was a level of progress that would\'ve difficult for the plane to achieve in the past.
"It\'s not like we\'re leaving the plane forever," Valyr reassured Marcus, letting out a peal of laughter after that. "We just need to attend to some of our things, then we\'ll head back if we can."
"Plus, if there ever comes an emergency where you need us back at the Mystic Plane, you could just conjure a rift and we\'ll appear in front of you shortly," continued Mystia, causing Valyr to look at her with slight surprise before soon nodding in agreement.
While the young man was internalizing the ability Marcus had that Mystia just mentioned, Marcus mulled over their words in silence, only to let out a sigh not long after as he nodded.
"Do make sure to come back when you can," said the man with a slightly somber smile, waving farewell to the two as they finally crossed the rift back to Veldanyr.
Whoosh!
Appearing once more within Mystia\'s chambers inside the Meltierre Heavenly Court, Valyr let out a sigh of relief, smiling as he felt that his experience within the Mystic Plane almost felt like a dream.
Not long after, Mystia appeared right beside him, letting out her own sigh of relief as well. Returning to the desk she occupied before their venture into the Mystic Plane, the Imperial Alchemist took a deep breath as she noticed that a few documents had been added to her desk while they were gone.
Letting out a long exhale as she went through them, Mystia briefly stopped what she was doing as she looked at the lounging Valyr. "So, are you planning to stay here till the meeting with the directors start?"
"I\'ll probably head back to the kingdom," said the young man after a bit of contemplation, opening up his chat screen to send a message to Julian of his return in advance.
While doing so, it was only then did he take full note of the messages Wells had sent him, feeling a hint of guilt for not responding to his messages in the past couple of days.
Though, that guilt intensified the moment he took a look at his friend\'s messages in detail, informing the young man that both him and Edward had returned to the inn a couple of days ago.
Inwardly letting out a long sigh at the bad timing of events, Valyr took some time to compose himself before bidding farewell to Mystia.
"Oh, before you go." However, before the young man could leave Mystia\'s room for good, the latter quickly brought up her screen, interacting with a bit as she sent something to Valyr through the system.
Ding!
[Mystia Aschel (Lvl. 130) has sent you a friend request. Would you like to accept?]
"...You\'re at the peak of Rank 6?" Though he\'d already expected Mystia to send him a friend request due to their new relationship, the young man looked back at the woman in shock after the system showed him her current level.
"To be honest, I could ascend to Rank 7 if I wanted to," replied Mystia as she took delight in the young man\'s reaction. "Then again, with how many years I still have ahead of me, is there really a reason to?"
"Anyways, that\'s all for now. I\'ll meet up with you at the venue of the meeting tomorrow." Hearing those words, it was only then did Mystia fully immerse herself in the documents on her desk, prompting Valyr to look at her for a bit before leaving the room sometime after.
With Aloe guiding him to Mystia\'s room from the entrance, the young man relied on that memory to find his way back, arriving at the Heavenly Court\'s entrance around ten minutes later.
Looking around with his perception at its limits to see where the Blacksmith Guild was, Valyr then applied a few movement-boosting skills on himself, only to then dart through the streets of the Meltierre Empire at breakneck speeds sometime later.
...
Whoosh!
"Man. I should really get some rest." Appearing at the center of the Blacksmith Guild\'s Teleportation Hall back at Algerie Kingdom, Valyr let out a wide sigh of relief as he glanced at the attendant that appeared to greet him.
Checking to see if his [Thousand Polymorph] had been deactivated once again during the teleport, Valyr only began to talk to the attendant after making sure that it was still there. Considering how it\'d been a while since he\'d last donned the appearance related to his Ylvar identity, the attendant did not recognize Valyr at first, to the point he began to wonder whether the young man had a problem in his mind.
Thankfully, a bit more talking was enough to solve the issue, with the attendant finally putting two and two together in his mind as his gaze towards Valyr changed into that of
excitement.
Reminding himself to strut around the Blacksmith Guild using Ylvar identity more often from now on, Valyr eventually left the guild after talking about a few things with Julian regarding the meeting with the directors the following day.
\'I\'ve really gained a lot from the Mystic Plane.\' Making his way back to the inn as he thought about he\'d apologize to both Wells and Edward, Valyr briefly went over the things he\'d obtained from the Mystic Plane.
\'Not only did I become the plane\'s Guardian, I was also able to improve my Mystic Energy capacity, the purity of my Mystic Energy, as well as pick up alchemy from Mystia.\'
\'Though, out of all those gains, the greatest one definitely has to be the fact that I gained a second subclass slot,\' thought Valyr to himself, inwardly laughing with glee.
\'Then again, that does beg the question.\'
\'I still have that First Gunslinger quest that gives me a second subclass slot if I were to
complete it.\'
\'Would completing that quest affect the second subclass slot I currently have?\'
Thinking about how the second subclass slot Marcus gave him was limited in terms of maximum rarity, Valyr felt that the answer to his question leaned more towards a yes than a
no.
However, just as that answer came to mind, the system seemed to have a response of its own.
Ding!
[The system has finished analyzing the changes brought about by the additional subclass
slot.]
[Taking your additional subclass slot into consideration, the objectives and rewards of the special subclass quest \'The First Gunslinger (Veldanyr)\' has been adjusted.]
[May you bring the art of firearms back to Veldanyr with ever greater glory.]
