Chapter 54: Chapter 54 – Shock!
Knowing what he wanted to do, Max also grinned and raised his hand.
"Just watch. I will set a new record."
"Heh! Show off!"
Dap!
A shrill sound echoed as their hands clapped in the air. It was the perfect dap, and both laughed at it.
Max somehow was confident to break the record and felt really relaxed. He nodded at Mr. Taka before entering the capsule at the Doctor\'s direction.
"Please don\'t worry about anything. I will warn you if something is wrong. Just focus on achieving the perfect run." Doctor Ardi reminded him as the capsule began to close.
Having been used to be taken care of by a doctor before, Max nodded without worrying about anything.
"Thank you, doctor."
The capsule was fully closed, and a whirring sound rang. A helmet-like device covered Max\'s face and pulled his consciousness into the VR world.
When he blinked, he wasn\'t inside the capsule anymore but in a white room. His clothes changed into a sweatshirt and tight pants, and he even wore running shoes.
He tried to move slightly and nodded in satisfaction after trying his avatar.
"Is there something different or any discomfort, Breeze?"
Mr. Taka\'s voice rang from the speaker in the room.
"It\'s perfect." Max answered while making an OK sign with his fingers, "Let\'s start immediately, Mr. Taka."
"Hahaha, you\'re really motivated. Just move toward the blue circle, and the test will start in a few seconds."
"Alright."
Without any hesitation, Max walked toward the blue circle confidently. He had already watched all the tests and experienced it once before, although he played around then and wasn\'t so serious. So, this was his first real test.
He couldn\'t help but get excited.
Once he reached the blue circle, the scenery changed to a track field with 3 obstacles in front of him. He ignored it and began to warm up.
"What\'s he doing?"
In the waiting area, RoninKnight looked confused when Max began to stretch his legs and arms.
"He\'s warming up."
The one who answered his question was StoneSword. He looked at the screen curiously, looking forward to what Max would show them.
"Does it work?" RoninKnight asked once again as he raised his eyebrows, "I mean… He\'s inside a VR world. There is no need to warm his \'avatar\' body as it\'s already in peak condition."
"It doesn\'t matter whether it works or not." Flexy, who had just arrived, chimed in the conversation with a grin.
"It\'s all just about mindset. Breeze did this parkour thing in the past, and I guess he was used to stretching before doing any exercise. It\'s like he\'s preparing his mind more than his body."
"Parkour?" StoneSword asked and looked at Flexy. "What kind of sport is that? An athletic one?"
"Who knows?" Flexy shrugged his shoulders and shook his head, "Look, he started."
Just as Flexy said, Max started running after finishing his stretching. The first obstacle was a pit with a rope. He managed to jump it without any problem and continued to a wall obstacle.
Looking at the tall wall in front of him, the corner of his lips curled up. It was around 3 meters high. There was a rope that could help a player climb the wall, but he didn\'t need that.
Hap!
With a single leap, Max managed to reach half of the wall.
"He will fall!" MadLad exclaimed loudly when he saw Max didn\'t choose the side with a rope.
But…
"No. He\'s Breeze." Lily denied his words with a soft smile.
And she was correct.
Max\'s right foot kicked the wall once again and propelled him upward. He just did a double jump. Then, he grabbed the top part of the wall with his hands and jumped over it, continuing to the wire area.
"Fuck!"
Who cursed loudly in the waiting area was unknown, and no one reacted to it. They were so speechless at Breeze\'s action that their eyes were glued to the screen streaming it. Even Mr. Taka didn\'t react.
Breeze was already on the ground when they realized it, sliding past the wire area. It just took him five seconds to pass it. The time floating in the air showed 00:09:26.
That meant…
Pa!
"This motherfucker just finished the first test in 34 seconds!"
MadLad slapped his thighs, and it created a shrill sound.
Everyone was speechless. Not even Flexy, who self-claimed to know Breeze the best, could say anything.
"Shit." A curse escaped his lips as his butt fell to a sofa, "That bastard… He was holding back when we streamed together, didn\'t he? Hahahaha!"
"So fast…" Lily muttered in amazement.
StoneSword only nodded. He had to admit that Breeze had skill. Just his movement alone, maybe, was already better than most professional gamers.
On the screen, the second test was ongoing. The scenery changed into a forest view with many trees on the way. At the end of the forest was a vast canyon, spreading around 100 meters wide. Only a single log connected two grounds together.
The goal laid at the end of that canyon, a simple area with a checkered black and white flag.
"Ah… this will be a breeze for him." Flexy chuckled as he watched Breeze move through the forest as if no trees were in the way. "After all, this guy passed through Knight\'s Journey midnight forest in under 8 minutes. No one is faster than him in the forest."
As Flexy had said, Max had no problem moving through the forest and uneven terrains. He even used the trunks as footholds and the branches to help him move around easier.
After a few seconds, the end of the forest could be seen. Max increased his speed without worrying about the small log. He was confident in his balance. If he wanted to, he could stand on a single rope, not to mention a log with a diameter of around 50 cm.
As for height… If that were a problem, to begin with, Max wouldn\'t even consider himself a traceur and start a parkour.
In the end, the second test only took him 52 seconds, a bit later than the first test because the track was also longer.
Max stood within the glowing circle with a checkered flag and a wide grin.
"Next!"
The scenery changed once again to prepare for the third test.
Watching how fast Max finished the first two tests, Mr. Taka couldn\'t help but smile widely. He guessed it… No, he trusted his gut feeling.
\'This will be big.\'
No one doubted it. Even breaking Puppeteer\'s record wouldn\'t be a dream at this current pace.
\'We will create a new world record in this program! How marvelous!\'
