Chapter 102: Chapter 102 – Playing House is Fun, But There is a Limit
And another mission from Max's long-lasting and loyal fans, BloodSucker. The reward was tantalizing, and refusing the mission was unnecessary.
"Oho? You're challenging me again, BloodSucker? Thank you in advance for the diamonds."
Max grinned happily. Whether he was able to finish it or not depended on how long he could play without getting exhausted.
"First, let's sleep. Night has arrived, and I don't want to explore it without any equipment."
Saying so, he turned around and looked at his bed. Before he went and pressed the menu to sleep, he saw something bulging underneath the blanket.
At that moment, he remembered what was on the bed. He pulled the blanket away and revealed a large sniper rifle that Lily left behind. She had forgotten to take it with her when she logged out.
Would she mind if he borrowed it to finish BloodSucker's mission?
Ding!
[Lily: I forgot the sniper. Feel free to use it until tomorrow. There are 5 ammos inside.]
It seemed like he didn't need to ask. An idea flashed in his mind, and his grin widened as he looked at the camera.
"Sorry, BloodSucker… I might finish this mission easier than expected."
— Nooo! That's cheating! Don't freaking use that!
"You didn't tell me what to use and what I can't use." Max responded and shrugged his shoulders, "Everything is fair in a war. Especially when there is money involved!"
— RIP BloodSucker
— RIP money
— Capitalism at its best, indeed
"Hehehe."
***
Bam!
A loud sound resounded from the long barrel of a sniper rifle in Max's hand. The large bullet flew in the air and killed Turret, the centipede-like Infected, in one shot.
The recoil pushed him back even though he crouched. And the shockwave created by the shot was enough to blow everything around him away.
"Hell yeah!"
Cling!
The empty shell dropped to the ground as he pulled back the charging handle.
"Damn! That's really satisfying! 5 times running the warehouse with only a single enemy that only needs a shot by a 50 Cal bullet feels so damn good!"
Thankfully, he read the guide. It said that the loot inside a building area would be reset every day. Unfortunately, though, it was no longer a heavy loot area, but the loot was still worth the danger.
Max was on day 8 of his server and had finished his 7th run of the warehouse, including the one with Lily. In total, he managed to get 26 planks and 8 woods. Not only that, but he also found another two full mags of 9mm bullets and 10 Scraps.
Overall, it was a good run for a loot zone with only Turret, a centipede-like Infected.
"Hehe, don't blame me for using this. Though there are only 6 bullets, including the one in the chamber, I fired them all already."
— IT'S CHEATING! YOU'RE CHEATING!
— That's… underwhelming. But I guess that's when you bring a Barret into a world under day 10
— I hope you return to this place and fight it again without OP weapon
"That's a matter of course," Max answered.
He brought all his loot outside the warehouse and dragged them home. They were heavy, mainly because of the sniper rifle he also brought.
"I will fight Turret with only a knife tomorrow. After this, I will focus on looting the area around my shelter to find more woods and planks. I need 4 more woods and 22 more planks. Well, if I have no time but have enough Scraps, I will probably visit the shady merchant."
— And get scammed again? Hehehe
— Welcome. What kind of scam do you want today?
— Hehe, customer. I have many scams that you can choose from. This is the choice
— Only in this game did the merchant always scam the players.
"Yeah, I hate that merchant."
He had to agree with his chat for the first time in his streaming career in this world. The merchant in V-Shelter Survival was too devious!
Arriving at his shelter, Max put the loot in the pile on the corner. He now felt a little bit exhausted. His body felt a little heavier than before.
'Ah, I hit my limit. I can't continue any longer without burdening my body.'
He immediately understood it. It was the same feeling when he tested his limit before in Knight's Journey.
'I've been playing for 4 hours now. It's already 2 hours more than what I usually could handle, probably because the system limits my SR to 95%. That's nice to know. So it's not just a penalty but also a blessing. I can stream longer now.'
He smiled.
'But I should stop here for today.'
His vision went to the mission provided by BloodSucker. It was 5,000 diamonds, equivalent to $100. That was a lot of money, at least for him in the past.
Right now, that was still a good amount of money, but nothing worth risking his health for. Once again, his first priority was his health and then streaming. The others came after that.
'Well, let's give him a laugh for now. He will probably give me another mission in the future.'
Sighing tiredly, Max massaged his shoulder with his hand. His movement was sluggish.
"I said that I would check the area around here, but it seems impossible, guys. I am already exhausted." He said with a weak tone.
— Huh?
— Does that mean?
— I WON THE BET?!
The chat couldn't believe what they had heard. Breeze backed off from BloodSucker's mission.
"Yeah, I will give you the win for now. As you know, my SR is 98.5%. That's why I only streamed for less than 2 hours in the past. Today, I pushed myself to stream for 4 hours, so I hope you understand that I can't continue any longer."
Max operated his screen and pressed the 'Give Up' button in the stream mission list. As soon as he did that, the announcement rang in his ear.
Ding!
[Mission failed!]
— That's true
— We kinda forgot that you are ranked 2 in SR and the world record holder in the test… Well, that was a good game, Breeze!
— I-I won? H-He gave up on my mission?! Is this real? Is this a dream? F*CK YEAH!!
— Breeze is kinda chill today
— Naah, he's chill because he was accompanied with a cute girl. If LilyPixel didn't meet him, he would be crazy
— Guys, you said blasting a sniper rifle was chill? Are you alright?
— Yes, we are. He's the BLOOD GOD. If he wanted to, he will kill that freaking centipede with barehands!
— True true, he's my god. Talking about blood, my right arm is aching again. I need to go
— To shake something? Kekekeke, don't do it too much!
"Well, I am glad you understand," Max laughed dryly after he read the chat. "Well then, see you in tomorrow's stream! As usual, I will livestream at 6 PM!"
— See you tomorrow!
— That was fun
— I will make a forum post real quick! There are many clips that I can show to those in V-Shelter Lobby
— See you again!
