Chapter 226 - 220: Dragon-Devouring Tree
Meanwhile, sensing imminent danger from the terrifying human approaching in the distance, the ancient Rock Beast instinctively felt an urge to retreat.
It could clearly perceive that compared to the strange beast covered with fur, the upright ape standing on two legs by its side was even more dangerous and terrifying.
Seeing the Rock Beast ready to engage in battle, David Jones immediately transmitted a thought.
“Flame Impact.”
Upon hearing this, Daphne promptly raised her head, and her ruby-like eyes suddenly erupted with brilliant golden light.
In the next moment, fierce and tempestuous reddish-gold flames enveloped Daphne’s figure, forming a reddish-golden flame armor around her body.
She exerted a powerful leap with her four claws, and her body crashed towards the Rock Beast like a cannonball carrying a dazzling flame.
Upon seeing this, the Rock Beast’s eyes flashed fierceness, its robust and colossal body surprisingly possessed speed incongruent with its size.
In just a flash, it turned into a grey-brown light and vanished on the spot, bringing its vast momentum, it directly collided with the incoming flame without dodging.
“Rumbling!”
The shockwave caused by their collision made the entire rock tunnel tremble violently, leaving one fearful about whether this underground labyrinth would collapse.
Dust clouds filled the entire tunnel. David Jones merely waved his hand; the strong wind raised blew away the incoming dust.
“I should hurry and find the path leading to the lower level. The beasts on the first level are too weak.”
Soon the dust disappeared revealing the Rock Beast that just a moment ago was full of vigor, now breathless and collapsed on the ground. Its grey-brown body had been burnt to charcoal by the surging flames, only leaving behind its cracked black shell on its back.
Seeing this miserable state, David Jones couldn’t help shaking his head.
It looks like he couldn’t blame the previous Rock Beasts for being too weak. It’s that Daphne who has absorbed part of the power of Solar Seed was too strong. The power of the innate flame was ridiculously strong, even the Rock Beasts of the same level with strong resistance to fire damage would die with one hit.
David Jones took out the Magic Core from the Rock Beast and turned his eyes towards the faint light under the vines at the edge of the tunnel. That was the soft luster naturally emitted by the Pet Resources.
“Iron Copper”: A dual-type Rock and Crystal grade II Pet Resource. After consumption by Rock and Crystal type pets, it can slightly increase the strength of the flesh. It is one of the evolution resources of the Earth Ragdoll.
Looking at this piece of Iron Copper, half-exposed and about one-fifth gnawed by the Rock Beast, David Jones revealed a touch of regret, and then took out a tool from the Star Ring and began to excavate it quickly.
Now was not the time to be picky; even if the additional points from the level II resources were minimal, they were still points.
“These are impressive flames.” Serena Ancientface praised, looking at Titanium Ragdoll on the screen as it annihilated everything.
Although she didn’t know how David Jones cultivated the Titanium Ragdoll, just by looking at the fire power on the screen, Titanium Ragdoll’s innate flame seemed to be even more intense and robust than Rosalind’s Fire Ragdoll.
“Red-gold innate flame?”
Audrey Harvey, looking at the flame disappearing from Titanium Ragdoll’s body, her expression remained calm, but her eyes seemed a bit strange.
Although she couldn’t perceive the aura through the screen, if she didn’t misread it, the flame released by this ragdoll seemed a bit like the Solar Flame of the Seventh-Order Tyrant’s Sun Destroyer Dragon.
Well, if her intuition wasn’t wrong, this Titanium Ragdoll wasn’t just a Trainer’s pet, but a completely monstrous creature.
A high-tier variant Beast had devoured and refined the Solar Flame of an Epic Overlord species, all with its frail body. Truly, this was an utterly insane Fire-type Pet.
However, at this moment, what surprised and intrigued her more than the variant Beast was the Trainer, David Jones.
Being an Epic Trainer herself, Audrey Harvey possessed extraordinary discernment and extensive experience.
Usually, a few quick glances were all she needed to see through most low-level Trainers’ abilities and strengths.
That’s why she noticed something off about David Jones through the screen.
In simple terms, Audrey felt that the new disciple accepted by her Teacher was more like a Body Cultivator, someone who had been rigorously training their physical strength for many years, trying to tap into the potential limit of their own body, a rarity in this glorious Era of Beast Training.
In her opinion, David Jones’s current physical condition was slightly inferior only to a King-level Trainer, but far superior to a Master-level Trainer.
With his current physical strength alone, David Jones had enough power to crush a Class III Superior, and could even hold his own against a Class IV Elite.
On the whole, comparing her new all-around monster of a junior brother, who was a Flare I Alchemist with rapid Cultivation and immense physical strength to his contracted Titanium Ragdoll, she concluded the Beast was quite peculiar and weak.
Therefore, while surrounding Teachers were praising the flame prowess of the Titanium Ragdoll, Audrey Harvey’s gaze on her junior brother deepened.
“Is it because of the real-time monitoring or is it my sixth sense? I feel a scorching glance on me!”
David took a careful look around his surroundings. Through intuition, he quickly discovered several exceedingly well-hidden mechanical lives, the “Heavenly Eye”.
However, he had an inkling that these Heavenly Eyes were just the tip of the iceberg, and the true source of the attention should be some unknown existence lurking deep underground.
Considering that the practical assessment’s deadline was only a day away, David didn’t give it much thought. Instead, through mental communication, he prompted Rainbow, who was immersed in her cultivation, to explore the way with her enormous Psychic Power, planning to break through to the sixth level in the shortest amount of time.
At this moment, deep within the sixth floor of the Earth Labyrinth, a huge red tree stood steadfast. Unending roots were crazily spreading from the soil it was planted in, through the first to the sixth floor of the Earth Labyrinth.
It was a Seventh-Order Tyrant Beast placed here by Director Hoyle of Rosewood College to ensure the safety of test-takers and smooth progress of the practical test.
“Pet Name”: Dragon-Devouring Tree
“Pet Type”: Wood, Dragon
“Species Level”: Epic Overlord
“Grade”: Upper Level VII
“Species Skill”: Dragon-slaying Root, Blood Absorption, Dragon-breaking Vine, Dragon Vine.
“Pet Profile”: A peculiar existence born from the devouring of dragons, a Plant-type Beast that treats dragons as delicacies. The Dragon bodies it devours can breed Dragon Blood Fruits, which slightly purify Dragon Blood. Therefore, it can attract Dragons in a large range and carry out a perfect hunt.
At this point, sensing the extremely enticing Dragon breath, the Dragon-Devouring Tree, despite knowing its main duty was to ensure the safety of the test-takers, couldn’t help but focus all its attention on David Jones. Even the tree’s main trunk exuded a salivating sap subconsciously.
“Such pure Dragon breath! It smells so much better than that blockhead Grau!”
PS: Thank you, Alfred Motrock, for the too dollar tip..
