Chapter 14 - 14 Ready to Open
Chapter 14: Ready to Open
Her second thought was how someone who had never done business could suddenly make it so big.
The chances of failure were high.
"Young people tend to act impulsively," she said.
Liu Fen, eager to offer her advice, planned to rush over. Her family had a car too, a Volkswagen Passat that they had been driving for a decade.
She wanted to change cars, but unfortunately, the conditions just weren\'t there.
The elderly couple\'s income was still very stable, but their younger daughter\'s art school was really expensive.
Thinking about changing cars could only wait until she became a big star.
By then, Liu Fen wanted to see who would dare to be so pretentious and impolite in front of her.
The family of three set off for Beixin\'an, not having visited their eldest daughter\'s home for many years.
It seemed they had only been there once when they first came to Capital City, and never again after that.
If it weren\'t for the eldest daughter sending them an address, they would probably have a hard time finding her home while living in the same city.
By the time they arrived, it was already six o\'clock in the evening.
The supermarket had just finished a busy period, with Zhang Tao and Liu Jing having filled two trucks with goods.
Besides a small portion that was moved into the refrigerated storage, most of the fruits filled the exterior stands to the brim.
With this change, the atmosphere and visual appeal soared instantly.
It looked like a bustling, high-end fruit supermarket.
"Sis, is this really your store?" Song Wu got out of the car and curiously took a round inside the shop; first of all, it was indeed spacious.
Secondly, the decoration was indeed top-notch, after all, it was designed by a specialized design firm after Li Zehao had spent a tidy sum of money.
Then they started with the renovation.
She couldn\'t believe that such a big store could be opened by her cheap brother-in-law who sold durians on the street.
Changing from a rifle to a cannon, where did he get the money to open such a big store.
"It\'s not just the two of us; we opened it in collaboration with others," Song Yanxi explained, which made Song Wu believe it a bit, because such a shop in Capital City would be impossible without a hefty investment of several million.
Her cheap brother-in-law certainly didn\'t have that much money, but if five or six people pooled their money together, then it might work out.
Liu Fen got out of the car without much of an expression, looking every bit the calculating and shrewd landlady.
Her hair was also pretty short, and if she took a curling iron and curled it with a cigarette dangling from her mouth,
it indeed would look the part.
"The two of you are investing so much, how come you didn\'t discuss it with us beforehand? What if you end up losing money?"
The worries of the older generation were never superfluous, but Liu Fen\'s mind instantly conjured up various possibilities post starting the business.
First was losing everything, which would likely make up at least eighty percent of scenarios.
If it came to that, she would insist her daughter divorce without a second thought, with all her reasons already lined up.
Next was the business running tepidly, barely enough to make ends meet.
Truth be told, this was the most tricky situation.
It was just like this cheap son-in-law, tasteless yet a pity to discard outright.
The only problem would probably be the daughter\'s reluctance to leave.
The third situation was particularly improbable, to the point of non-existence.
Liu Fen didn\'t hold out any hope.
That would be the son-in-law making it big, becoming a rather decent winner in life.
Earning a steady yearly income of four to five hundred thousand and gaining a respectable boss status.
This scenario would undoubtedly be the most perfect one, but Liu Fen simply didn\'t believe he could pull it off.
"Mom, can you keep your voice down? We haven\'t even opened for business yet, and here you are, saying such unpleasant things."
Song Yanxi pulled her aside, not realizing that when her mother arrived, Zhang Tao and the others didn\'t bother to greet her at all.
Clearly not well-received.
It was only because Old Chen was so good-tempered that he bore his mother-in-law\'s words without complaint.
If they faced such a situation, unable to deal with their mother-in-law, they wouldn\'t be able to resist taking it out on your daughter in bed.
"What\'s the matter, you think what I\'m saying is unpleasant? Before you opened this shop, you should have thought it through more carefully."
Liu Fen used to work for a state-owned enterprise, and after being laid off, she worked in a small supermarket, and so she knew all too well how hard it is to run a supermarket.
Especially one that sells fruit; the spoilage alone is frightfully high.
"How can you say we didn\'t think it through? You just look down on him."
Song Yanxi transformed into a warrior goddess defending her husband, ready to lash out at anyone who insulted her man.
"You\'re talking nonsense without knowing a thing. Do you have any idea that Pingsheng took over this store without spending a penny, and even made a few tens of thousands?"
"Talking big here, why don\'t you go to Deyun Club?"
If Liu Fen believed her, they\'d all laugh their teeth off.
How could such a good store cost nothing?
"See, I knew you wouldn\'t believe it."
Song Yanxi said proudly, "We took over this shop for only three hundred thousand, and when we partnered with Zhang Tao and others, we invested based on a total investment of seven hundred thousand. With forty-eight shares sold, it turns out that not only did we not spend money on this shop, but we also made a good few tens of thousands."
"Are you kidding me? Just keeping such a good store running would certainly be worth more than three hundred thousand, who would give it away for that price?"
Liu Fen\'s voice rose by seven or eight degrees, "Which boss is such a fool?"
Li Zehao sneezed loudly at home, wondering darkly which bastard was cursing him.
If it was a woman, he\'d definitely have to do this before doing that.
If it was a man, well, it\'s simple: curse him to never encounter a woman in his life.
"Can you please be a little quieter?"
Song Huamin came over to mediate, not intending to mock, but genuinely wanting to have a few good drinks with his son-in-law.
It\'s truly not easy for outsiders to start a business in Capital City.
After all, a family should be able to talk things through properly.
"Hmph." Every time she spoke to her eldest daughter about Chen Pingsheng, it ended in an argument.
Liu Fen, for her part, was never one to back down.
Similarly, Song Yanxi wouldn\'t give in to her mother, resulting in them barely seeing each other over the past few years.
At most, they would have contact during holidays and festivals.
Truth be told, she also wanted to be a filial and good daughter, but Liu Fen had really gone too far.
"I\'ve made dinner reservations for tonight; we can all go there to eat after we finish up here."
Only after his mother-in-law had completely calmed down did Chen Pingsheng come over to bring up dinner arrangements.
They hadn\'t planned any grand events for the grand opening tomorrow; everything was to be quiet and unassuming.
Outsiders didn\'t even know the shop had quietly changed owners.
But this was, after all, their first business venture, so having a gathering was definitely necessary.
The location for this gathering was a famous local Chinese classical restaurant.
The decor was lavishly traditional.
They hadn\'t been here before, so the sense of ceremony for their first time as owners was significant.
Chen Pingsheng had booked a large private room on this occasion.
Compared to rich second-generation heirs or big bosses, their greatest advantage wasn\'t in education, information, or capital.
But in that if they put money into something, they would go all out to make it the best it can be.
So, Chen Pingsheng himself was very confident about making a success of this store.
