Chapter 206: Fun...?
"..."
Azmond's gaze followed the fingers of the old man as he saw something he didn't quite understand.
What he saw was a translucent screen with a massive monster that almost looked like a dragon without wings filling up the entire screen.
"You see the monster on that screen? I need you to go and take care of it. If you can do that, then I will immediately allow you to become a C-Rank Adventurer."
"???"
His ancient and crispy voice found its way to Azmond as he thought over the offer this mysterious BranchMaster proposed as soon as he met him.
'I should take it, righ-?'
However, he didn't get long to contemplate the matter as the ancient voice continued sounding out, "I will also allow both the woman and slime you have with you to advance straight to C-Rank as well." He added with a sinuous smile toward the end.
"I accept." Azmond instantly responded.
He wasn't planning to refuse the original offer made by the BranchMaster, and adding such benefits for those around him only further increased his willingness to go through with such a request.
"Perfect. All you need to do is head to the east of the City of RiverBloom and you will find the lair of a certain subspecies of dragon, called an 'Earth Dragon'. You will know its lair when you see it.
However, be careful of this monster, for it is known for its sneaky attempts to escape underground after being injured to a near-death state. That is one of the main reasons why all the requests we sent out for its elimination have been left uncompleted."
His wisdom-filled voice found its way over to Azmond, as there was something he didn't understand about such a request being asked of him.
"And why did you think that I would have any better luck than the rest of the Adventurer's you sent out?"
He asked about one of the things he was curious about. After all, why would someone of such a high status and power level go through the trouble of inviting a newbie like him to complete a quest that even veteran Adventurer's could not complete?
"Oh. That is simple," he began with an amused smile forming on his wrinkled face. "It is because I feel like you are different from the rest."
"That is all?"
'This old dude is a little too rash with his decisions, is he not?'
"Yes." He replied with a neutral look on his face.
This BranchMaster was definitely a lunatic.
...
However, so was Azmond!
"Alright. Can we head out now?" He asked with a nonchalant expression.
"I don't see why not?" The BranchMaster responded back in a tone just as casual.
"Very well. Goodbye."
Following such a simple farewell was the figure of the tall fox-masked man dragging along the still aggrieved Boundless and Emu.
Crystalline had been clinging to his arm the entire time, so he didn't have to worry about her suddenly attacking the BranchMaster.
|Just let me at him, Azmond! I can take him!|
Boundless hissed like a cat who had her tail stepped on while kicking her feet in the air as she was pulled out of the BranchMasters office.
"Mhmu! Mhmu!! Mhmu?"
Emu was in a similar mood; however, it got a little confused toward the end and just started talking about how it wanted to eat every jewel on that door
*Sigh*
He ignored their shenanigans and pulled them down the many flights of stairs before making his way out of the Adventurer's Association.
....
BOOOM!
His figure soon took flight as he zoomed through the air, heading in the direction of the Earth Dragon.
*****
Whip!
A busty woman in a tight-fitted suit emerged from the shadows as she looked toward the nonchalant old man on his antiquated rocking chair.
"Was that truly wise, sir?" Elara asked with a slightly perplexed look on her face.
Although she didn't think much of it before, she just now realized that they sent out a bunch of newbies on a mission to take care of a fearsome Earth Dragon!
This specific Earth Dragon was no pushover either, as it had already reached the limits of the C-Rank Beast Category!
It was at a rank that Correlated to that of a Peak Nascent Soul Level Beast! It was not something that just anybody in the AquaRing Kingdom could take care of!
"Was that wise, you ask?"
He began to ponder over the topic for a moment before his response came not long after.
"Hmm Who knows? But isn't it sort of fun to see whether or not he will make it back in one piece?"
A slightly expectant look crept up his expression as his divine sense caught a hint of the speeding figure booming through the skies.
He didn't know how that man could move at such insane speeds with a mere Peak Foundation Establishment Realm Cultivation Base; however, did that really matter?
He was far more interested in what exactly this man was hiding. He could feel it; there was something extraordinarily special about this man!
Even the woman and slime he had with him were complete mysteries to him.
"Fun...?" She questioned with an exhausted voice.
She seemed to always forget about the weird personality that her BranchMaster had
"Yes, fun. How long has it been since you have had fun, Elara? You are already nearing your five hundredth birthday, and yet you still haven't found yourself a man. Even if you aren't looking to settle down, shouldn't you at least go out and have some fun for once?
You are always so uptight. It gets a little tiring sometimes."
