Chapter 209: The 'Profession System'
Even though such cases were rare for those with 'weaker' professions, it was practically a guarantee for those with 'higher ranking' professions.
Most people thought about the 'profession system' as another type of 'innately born talent system' for those who weren't even aware they could advance to higher qualities of body cultivation laws, such as Heavenly, Divine, and Quantum.
It was sort of seen as the 'commonplace' talent gauger of the world of Asterion, and that wasn't merely limited to the world of Asterion, as just about every mortal world used a similar talent system to separate the useless from the 'Heavenly Geniuses'.
There were also a few other ways to determine the talent and potential of an individual, such as their spirit roots, technique comprehension, law comprehension, and aptitude for Physical Body Cultivation.
However, such indicators were more like add-ons to what your profession was, and more often than not, they were centered around the profession that was given to you at birth.
The only reason that such a thing wasn't tested at birth, like with Azmond, was because you couldn't figure out which profession you were born with until you reached your twelfth birthday and headed to a Holy Cathedral or a place with similar functions.
The age you when you had the opportunity to figure out your profession just so happened to be at an age where everyonebeside Azmondstarted to cultivate.
For most affluent families, the order for their children went like
The child preps their body and imbibes all the information they can before they reach the age of twelve. They reach the age of twelve. Go activate their profession at a Holy Cathedral or similar facility in whatever Kingdom or Empire they are living in.
They start cultivating upon learning what direction they want their cultivation to go in.
This order was, of course, strictly for those born of richer descent. For the majority of the inhabitants of Asterion, they didn't have the necessary wealth to travel to a main port like the Holy Cathedral in the Kingdom of AquaRing.
They would have to wait dozens, if not hundreds, of years, barely scraping by and cultivating with what little wealth they had, before ultimately scrunging up just enough money to allow them to travel to a main port and pay for the divination ceremony.
Power ruled the world! And what did all people with power have that all the people weaker than them did not?
The answer was money! Everything revolves around power and money!
With enough power and money, you could control every aspect of the world like cogs in a machine.

"So, are we done here?" A deep, raspy voice sounded out.
Azmond looked toward the old, wrinkled figure of the old BranchMaster in his rocking chair with a slightly impatient expression on his face.
A confirmation soon followed from the decrepit man in question: "Yes, we are. You can head out and do as you will."
He waved his hand as Azmond, Crystalline, Boundless, and Emu were waved out of the room, followed by a slamming of the BranchMasters doors.
Bang!
"???"
They were all confused about what just occurred and how they were suddenly teleported outside the entrance to the BranchMasters room.
However, none of them dwelled on that matter for long as they looked toward the staircase before making their way down.
It was unknown what the others were feeling, but Azmond really wanted to go out and hunt even more C-Rank Monsters with his new Adventurer Status!
He would've already gone out and exterminated higher-level monsters like that without the help of the Adventurer's Association.
However, finding the location of higher-level beings at the Nascent Soul Realm and above without the information network provided by the association made that practically impossible!
Even with his insanely inflated divine sense, he wasn't confident that he would be able to find a single C-Rank Monster in less than 2 days of searching.
All the powerful monsters he had found before were just because of 'fortuitous' encounters with beasts that wished to consume him.
And that of course didn't exclude the beasts that were sent by the elusive being's playing with his fate from beyond the heavensbeings that he still had a deep enmity he had yet to resolve with them

"..." "..." "..."
A couple of masked figures and a black and gold slime stepped down from the final staircase as they bore witness to the astonished stares from all the Adventurer's that congregated on the first floor of the building.
"Are those the guys?" Whispered a D-Rank Adventurer.
He had been out for a few days, attempting to make his way into the C-Rank, despite his insufficient cultivation base at the Peak Golden Core Formation Realm.
However, nothing seemed to be capable of allowing his reputation to skyrocket enough to allow him to bypass the C-Rank!
'If only I had the back door they had!'
His thoughts veered in the direction of hatred as he looked at the couple and their slime with a malevolent glare in his eyes.
And it looked like he wasn't the only one with such malicious intentions towards the group, as a few dozen Adventurer's eyed those silver tokens hanging off their robes with obvious greed!
"Yeah, and then we can do that"
"How about this?..."
"No, let's do it this way'
"Can't we do it like this instead?"
They started to group up and whisper among themselves. 'Up to no good' was practically written all over their faces.
"..."
Azmond and Crystalline noticed such ill-intent directed toward them; however, they could care less about the envy of mere bugs, so they ignored them and went on their way.
The doors to the Adventurer's Association suddenly slammed open!
A man around 6'1 with medium-length brown hair and a woman around 5'7 with long blonde hair rushed into the Adventurers Association with clear panic written on their faces.
"Where is the BranchMaster!?" Screamed the man.
