Chapter 239: Palkus’ Journey! 30
The Vampire continent was special in the way that it was a night city. Nothing, and by nothing, it means absolutely not a single thing goes on in the morning.
The vampires are a secluded race who are neutral to all others, but in this day and age, what nation still retained its exclusivity?
Wherever you went, even underwater, you will find a human or two in every inn. It was but a simple fact, humans liked to butt in and travel wherever and whenever they could. And honestly, this rule applied to all races.
However, one thing remained true, and it was the fact that nothing happened during the morning.
Even the tourists, the other races, and humans, may they be or not, sleep in the morning and wake up at night.
Because, what would you do alone in a city? Of course there are the crazy ones who like to explore a ghost city and there's no harm in that, but in any other case, it remains as such, a ghost city.
The young man, who had just evolved a month ago, was already max level. In fact, he reached max level the day after his wedding. After a sweet first night with his beloved, he sneaked away, destroyed a full S-rank dungeon, and came out fresh.
He had to do so, if he wasn't at max level, it felt like something was missing; it just… didn't feel right.
Well now he was max level, and he even enjoyed a full honey moon with Emily that was… crazier than he imagined.
Unfortunately, his wife couldn't leave with him to the vampire continent and neither could the others; thus… he was alone.
"So did you find the city?" Well, not really alone.
"Yeah, there's a little town right below us. We need information more than anything currently so let's lay low." Palkus looked at Azeroth next to him and replied.
"Oho? I really would like to just lay back and barely do anything." Azeroth, hearing Palkus' words, expressed his desires.
"You're right. This continent is just right for that." Palkus replied. Wherever he swept his senses, all he could see were empty streets, empty forests, and complete total emptiness.
He felt something burning inside of him, something that was dormant.
He felt laziness with a little mix of craziness.
It was strange how when he was with Azeroth, he felt this feeling of… what do they call it? Companionship? Friendship? More like brotherhood.
It felt as if he was with a brother of his he was connected to on a deep level. This might be due to them both having a relationship with Draco but still… It was weird.
"Let's go down." Palkus said and started flying down.
Azeroth flapped his wings, then retracted them and floated down slowly behind Palkus.
Looking at the back of the young man, Azeroth was also contemplating.
This young man was fun to be around. Unlike all others he was with, it felt like he just felt more comfortable with him.
Let's not forget that he was hundreds of thousands of years old, if not more. He had experienced wars, betrayals, banishment, and power. You name it.
At a point in time, before Draco came and beat him up, he was the equivalent of an absolute ruler. Inside his dungeon, he was king, he was emperor, his word was everything.
But none of that remained. He was now nothing but an at in this wide world full of countless existences. He needed to make a name for himself and turn into something greater.
It wasn't a need, it wasn't a want, it was a should! He had to become a great existence, he had to ascend and become a celestial, after all, he was the subordinate of a monster like Draco.
Maybe… maybe this was what made him feel the connection he had to this young man. After all, both of them were under one being, with the expectations of achieving great things and becoming pillars and historical figures one would read about, hear about, see, and look up to.
But all of this didn't matter.
Azeroth put his hand behind his head and smiled.
"I really feel laid back." He said.
"Right?" Palkus replied, excitement obvious from his face.
Azeroth flew forward a bit, just enough to stand side by side with Palkus, and not behind him.
At one point in time, being behind him seemed just right. After all, Palkus was greater. He was closer to Draco, he had higher expectations, he was just… better.
But not anymore.
The friendship of an eternity was completely formed this day. The crazy things that would happen in this evolutionary arc Palkus was going through… would be memorized by all as the greatest duo to ever live.
The town was finally in sight, and as Palkus sensed, the gothic buildings and tiled streets had not a single being in sight.
The duo couldn't even look for an inn to sleep in as everybody was sleeping by now, but thankfully, it was already sunset, so in but a few moments, night will descend and the people will start coming out.
So…
"Let's sit here." Palkus sat on the edge of a building, overlooking the streets, before he put his hand on his thighs and then on his shin.
Azeroth sat right next to him and the duo silently watched the empty streets.
"What are your plans?" Azeroth asked.
"Oh? We'll rent an estate or something, then… we'll see what to do from there."
"So no plan?" Azeroth chuckled.
"Seems like it." Palkus laughed.
"Ditch the rent." Azeroth suddenly said.
"Huh?" Palkus, not getting what Azeroth meant, looked at him in confusion.
"Let me show you how we used to do things."
