Chapter 234 - 234 Necromancer Witch
The “Eye of Appraisal” of Canaan had zero attack power, but its ability to distinguish truth from falsehood and see through illusions was formidable. It even had a particularly high rate of appraising items whose true nature was hidden behind special energies.
However, after using the Eye of Appraisal, Canaan found that the tunnel before them was empty. There was no crying little girl.
“If it’s truly an illusion, then what’s with the sobbing we’re hearing?” Canaan couldn’t help but shrink back, saying to Song Jian, “How about we try another passage?”
Song Jian nodded. They were still in the exploration stage and hadn’t figured out the correct path, so choosing a different tunnel didn’t make a difference.
If the invisible phantasm-like creature was indeed blocking the right path, they would have no choice but to fight it with everything they had. But they weren’t at that point yet.
The two slowly backed away and chose a different tunnel. As they moved forward, Canaan continued to map their path.
After moving tens of meters forward, they heard the sobbing of the little girl again. Canaan shuddered, dropping the pencil he was using to draw the map, his normally pale green skin beginning to turn a pale white.
“What do we do? It’s stalking us!” Canaan said, with trembling words.
“What exactly is it? Haven’t you been here many times? Don’t you even know the kind of monsters in here?” Song Jian frowned, annoyed at the lack of information about the monsters here and Canaan’s evasive attitude.
“It’s different, every time the location of the maze changes, the monsters inside change as well. Every entrance has different monsters. The giant spider from before was a new type, and this ghostly little girl is also new.I’ve never seen her before.” Canaan said with a trembling body.
“I honestly don’t know how you managed to navigate this maze in the past!” Song Jian commented, taking a step forward.
Sure enough, after turning two corners in the sewer tunnel, they encountered the crying little girl again. She was squatting on the ground, hugging her knees.
Moving closer, a silver vertical line slowly opened in Song Jian’s forehead. From this pupil, a silver light shined towards the little girl.
Through Song Jian’s eyes, the crying little girl squatting on the ground turned into a floating ghost. Her head was disheveled, and she was wearing a tattered black robe. Her robe was so decayed that bits and pieces were floating away from it. Her hands had no flesh, just skin covered bones, as dry as tree branches. Her fingers were glowing with a black light.
This ghost didn’t have legs, her lower body was a cloud of black mist. She floated above the little girl while a handful of long, black hair covered her face. A pair of eyes, emitting a bloody red glow, peeked through the strands.
“LV15 Necromancer Witch (Elite), Vitality Points: 1900/1900, Spirit Points: 1000/1000. Traits: Undead, Soul Eater, Immune to Fear, Disease, and Bleeding effects. Skills: Soul Wail, Necromancer’s Aura, Phasing, Void Claw.”
The first thing Song Jian noticed was that this creature was a level 15 elite BOSS. Until encountering the Ghostfire Beast, Song Jian had always thought that there were no BOSS level creatures in the Kantelu Maze.
After seeing the Ghostfire Beast, however, Song Jian’s views had shifted, and he became more cautious. If there was a level 20 elite BOSS, there would certainly be those of other levels. If they were to encounter a level 30 elite BOSS, Song Jian would certainly retreat without a second thought;
Attribute points could be recovered, but lives couldn’t. If they died, there would be nothing left.
“This is actually a magic-using elite BOSS.” Seeing the Necromancer Witch’s Spirit Points were at a thousand, Song Jian knew instantly that it was a magic-type monster.
From his inventory, he took out a Weakness Potion, and threw it toward the little girl;
With a ‘pop’ sound, the potion bottle shattered, enshrouding the little girl in a cloud of green mist.
“Eye Kill”
Without saying a word, Song Jian directly activated the “Vertical Pupil’s” inherent skill. A dazzling silver beam of light shot towards the floating Necromancer Witch in the air.
“You missed, damn it, why did you release your skill towards the air?” Canaan watched as the silver beam surprisingly shot towards a place more than a foot above the little girl’s head, and suddenly became flustered.
But soon, it saw that the monster it had originally seen squatting and crying on the ground had disappeared. In its place was the monster floating above its head.
A series of damage numbers floated up from above the Necromancer Witch’s head. The power of Eye Kill was surprisingly large, causing over a hundred points of damage to the Necromancer Witch every second.
“I curse you, curse you, curse…” As wounds appeared all over the Necromancer Witch’s body, black mist continually seeped out. It howled continuously, reaching out with its withered arms towards Song Jian, sharply pinching the air before him.
Song Jian suddenly felt the heat around him being completely absorbed, as a bone-chilling cold rushed at him from all directions, causing him to shiver involuntarily. At the same time, he felt a pair of greasy, icy hands travelling along his shoulders, towards the sides of his neck, like two serpents slowly tightening around his neck, giving him a feeling of suffocation.
System: You have been cursed by the Necromancer Witch; you will lose a total of 500 vitality points in 30 seconds.
System: Your talent skill “Thick Skin” has been activated, the curse effect is weakened, the duration is extended to 60 seconds, and the loss of blood is reduced to 350 points.
Song Jian was taken aback. This was the first time he had encountered a negative effect that his talent skill hadn’t completely immunized against. However, his vitality point recovery rate was twenty-three points per second, so even if it hadn’t been weakened, the curse would only suppress his vitality point recovery rate and wouldn’t cause any damage to him.
After releasing the curse, the Necromancer Witch seemed to have spent a lot of spirit points, which dropped by more than two hundred points. It floated in place, no longer releasing any other skills.
The five-second “Eye Kill” had ended. Song Jian seized the opportunity to rush towards the Necromancer Witch. His long sword moved, with three sword silks appearing in the empty space around his body. After twisting and dancing in the air for a moment, they shot towards the Necromancer Witch in unison.
Whizz, whizz, whizz-
The three sword silks pierced through the Necromancer Witch’s body, causing over five hundred points of damage, floating up from its head.
“The power of the Sword Silk has increased!” Seeing the damage numbers floating above the witch’s head, Song Jian was taken aback. Every skill he had released had dealt more damage to the witch than usual. Could this be because the witch’s resistance was too low?
Just then, the “Guardian’s Sword” had also slashed at the witch’s body. An icy chill instantly spread from the long sword to his right hand.
At that moment, Song Jian felt as if his entire right hand had been immersed in icy cold water. The chill was even flowing along his arm towards his shoulder.
On the surface of the Necromancer Witch’s body, a ripple-like undulation also appeared. This caused Song Jian’s strike to feel like it was sinking completely into a puff of cotton – void of any resistance whatsoever.
“Immune to physical damage?” Song Jian’s eyes widened in surprise as he stared at the Necromancer Witch.
