Chapter 257: Chasing and Killing
Looking at the tattooed arm on the ground, Chu Ping’s face darkened, and he couldn’t help but grip the dagger at his waist, cursing softly, “Damn it!”
Ma Jiang stared at the arm for a moment, took off the battle shield on his back, secured it to his left arm, and said in a deep voice, “Qi Yun, go check on Miao Wen and treat him!”
“Understood!” Wearing a robe and with a short staff at his waist, Qi Yun nodded and walked towards Miao Wen, who was vomiting blood profusely.
“Those bastards in the Gathering Area promised that this transmission channel could withstand five professionals!” Chu Ping pulled out the two daggers hanging from his waist, spun them in his palms, gripped them tightly, his eyes fierce. If those so-called experts from the Gathering Area were in front of him, he would not hesitate to stab them with a few large holes.
Qi Yun knelt on the ground, laying Miao Wen’s vomiting body flat and letting him lie down, then pressed his palm on Miao Wen’s brow and began chanting a spell. A white light burst forth from his palm, quickly covering Miao Wen’s entire body.
Miao Wen’s vomiting stopped, but his face still looked terrible, his muscles twisting, and his hands constantly clutching at his chest.
After a moment, a trace of fatigue appeared on Qi Yun’s face as he gripped the short staff at his waist and waved it lightly over Miao Wen. A sacred light burst forth from Qi Yun’s body, and tiny energy droplets like rain appeared in the air, falling onto the prone Miao Wen.
Miao Wen’s face grew even more terrible, his eyes bulging out like a frog’s, and his hands clutching desperately at his chest, making “heh-heh” gasping sounds.
Having expended a healing skill called “Sacred Rain” with a cooldown time of 12 hours, Miao Wen’s condition still didn’t improve and Qi Yun’s brow furrowed. Looking at Miao Wen, he tore open the man’s shirt.
“Captain!” Qi Yun’s face changed dramatically and called out.
Ma Jiang, who was in a battle state, glanced over and saw a foot-long fissure on Miao Wen’s chest, right over his heart, as if it had been cut open by a blade.
Over the fissure, the force of space constantly surged. Any healing energy that touched the wound immediately triggered a counterattack from the space force, rendering no effective healing.
Ma Jiang went to Miao Wen and examined the wound closely. Now Miao Wen was hanging by a thread, his Vitality Points dropping rapidly. He could no longer speak, his mouth full of blood, and his body convulsing involuntarily, gripping Qi Yun’s sleeve tightly.
The force of space from the wound had already spread throughout Miao Wen’s body. By now, Miao Wen’s Vitality Points were reduced to just 3, but these last 3 Vitality Points seemed to be locked down, no longer dropping.
Miao Wen’s body trembled constantly, sweat pouring from his brow and his body looking like it had just been retrieved from a pool. In just a short time, a puddle of water had formed beneath him.
Qi Yun gritted his teeth, holding the short staff, about to perform another healing skill when Ma Jiang grabbed Qi Yun’s hand and shook his head, “We can’t save him unless we dispel the space force from his wound. Chu Ping, give Miao Wen a quick end!”
Chu Ping took a deep breath, with flames of rage burning in his eyes, walked up to Miao Wen, knelt down on both knees, and gently placed a fang-like dagger on Miao Wen’s neck.
Chh~
A flash of white light, a critical hit floated above Miao Wen’s head. With a soft breath and a faint sound from his throat, Miao Wen’s body lay limp.
After death, Miao Wen’s body should have been incinerated by the transparent flame, but as soon as the flames began to burn, the force of space emerged and withstood the fire.
Only when the force of space had been completely consumed could Miao Wen’s body be incinerated by the flame.
“Pack up, gather up his equipment, and let’s continue the mission!” Ma Jiang said indifferently.
“If that bastard hadn’t killed people from our 101 Gathering Area, we wouldn’t have taken this hunting mission in the first place. If we hadn’t taken the mission, Miao Wen and Ka Ya wouldn’t have died…” As Chu Ping walked, he grumbled angrily.
“The Institute’s bunch of useless researchers claimed that this Transmission Array could bear five professionals, but in the end…”
“Enough, Chu Ping. What’s done is done. Our mission now is to find out what happened then and eliminate that Blessed One!” Ma Jiang said coldly.
Chu Ping stopped talking, snorted coldly, and gripped his dagger tighter.
Soon, the three of them headed towards the Urban Waste Collection Center.
The Urban Waste Collection Center was lined with several garbage mountains, and a faint stench spread into the surroundings. Low growls of zombies could occasionally be heard from behind the wire fence enclosing the area.
The three of them went to the garbage station and lured all the monsters out before killing them one by one. Then they walked towards the rooms.
The highest level of mutated zombies here was only five, and all three of them were professionals. Their captain, Ma Jiang, was already level twelve, and the other two were level ten. Dealing with these zombies was a piece of cake for them.
“It’s been over a month since it happened, and many traces have disappeared, but their battle was intense, so there must still be some traces left!” Qi Yun looked around and said.
“I don’t need a complete reconstruction of the battle scene. 1 just need to know how many people killed the people of our 101 Gathering Area. Was it just this Song Jian, the Blessed One, or were there other accomplices?” Ma Jiang said coldly, “Any offender of our 101 Gathering Area must pay!”
Qi Yun nodded and began examining things carefully.
After a while, Qi Yun walked a large circle around the garbage station, stopped for a moment at several special locations, and pointed to three barracks-like buildings, saying, “There were two people at the scene. One did not participate in the battle, just watched from that room. Only one took action, and that must be the Blessed One mentioned by the system!”
“Who is the one who didn’t take action?” Ma Jiang asked.
“The advance team sent a message at the time saying they had captured a scientist who could be sold for a good price. Presumably, the one who didn’t take action is the scientist they captured.” Chu Ping interjected.
“A scientist? Hmph, if he wasn’t working with the Blessed One, why would he come to this desolate place to kill people?” Ma Jiang sneered, “He must have come to save the scientist. Both of them must die!”
“Do we know the identity of the scientist?” Ma Jiang turned and asked.
“His name is Dr. Ebsiting, and he lives on Fifth Avenue…” Chu Ping stopped typing on the computer on his wrist and looked up to say.
“Perfect. Let’s kill the doctor first, and then go for the Blessed One!” Finished, the three left the garbage station and headed for Fifth Avenue as marked on their map.
