Chapter 819: No One Knows You Anyways
Connor himself did not expect to have some unexpected gains during his visit to the Medicine King’s Valley. While he originally came to collect some medicinal materials, he unexpectedly obtained some other rewards.
Once Ruby’s father’s illness truly improves, the Yandell family will have only two choices. The first option is to honestly hand over 10% of their shares.
Connor knew that her father currently only held less than 50% of the shares, and the rest were dispersed among other shareholders. Therefore, once Connor acquires this 10% of the shares, he will already become the second largest shareholder of the Yandell family. Furthermore, during this time, Charles can purchase some shares from other minority shareholders.
By then, Connor can quietly become the largest shareholder of the Yandell family.
He can then naturally help Charles resolve the biggest business rival in Salem.
Although the request of 10% may seem casual to others, it is a carefully calculated number by Connor.
Of course, Ruby has a second choice, which is to refuse to comply.
But at that time, Connor cannot be blamed for being ruthless.
He believed in Charles’s abilities. Before Ruby’s father’s illness improves, Charles will surely made thorough preparations.
Of course, he wouldn’t explain all these things to Diana and the others. It was better for Diana and the others to know less about the business.
The appearance of Ruby actually changed Connor’s perspective on many things. He realized that despite being around the same age as himself, Ruby can control such a large company like the Yandell family. On the other hand, even though Connor has inherited the family fortune for a long time, he has never been involved in the business. Connor feels that it is time for him to take over the company’s business and not rely on Thomas and others for everything.
Although she didn’t really intend to give him 10% of the shares, she did not break her promise regarding the two conditions Connor proposed earlier.
Not long after Ruby left, someone voluntarily sent the medicinal materials Connor needed, and the promised one billion in cash from Ruby also arrived.
After everything was settled, Connor naturally didn’t need to stay there anymore. He chose to take the train back to Porthampton with Diana and Carlos.
After returning to Porthampton, Connor asked Diana and Carlos to go back and rest, while he went to Jorge’s house alone with the medicinal materials.
Jorge was still the same as before, sitting alone in a rocking chair with his eyes closed, basking in the sun, while Jabba quietly squatted beside him.
He felt that Jorge was very different from the other warriors he imagined because, in Connor’s eyes, warriors should spend most of their time on cultivation. But Jorge was different. He was like those retired old men, sitting alone in a rocking chair basking in the sun during the day, going to bed early at night, and continuing to bask in the sun the next day. Connor had never seen Jorge practice!
Of course, now he no longer doubted Jorge’s skills because after experiencing these events, he believed that Jorge must have some abilities. He thought that if he could become Jorge’s disciple, he wouldn’t lose out.
“Mr. Jorge, I’ve brought you the medicinal materials you wanted…”
With a cheerful smile, Connor shouted towards Jorge’s direction.
Upon hearing his words, Jorge quickly turned his head, glanced at him lightly, and asked in a soft voice, “Did you find Precipice Cave?”
“Of course, I found the medicinal materials inside Precipice Cave for you as well…”
Connor nodded gently.
“Did you also meet Yulian?”
Jorge continued to ask.
“You actually know Yulian?”
A hint of confusion flashed in Connor’s eyes.
“Since I know where to find the Soul-calling Grass, naturally, I know about Yulian…”
Jorge replied softly.
“Yes, I did meet that Yulian, and I even defeated him before obtaining these medicinal materials!”
Connor nodded lightly.
“Is Yulian dead?”
Jorge asked in a soft voice.
“He’s not dead, but he’s disabled now. I guess he won’t be able to harm anyone anymore…”
Connor answered.
“I didn’t expect that after so many years, Yulian is still there. It’s indeed quite interesting. He has been up to no good for so many years. You have done a good thing by crippling him…”
Jorge chuckled lightly, then narrowed his eyes as if recalling something.
“No, old man, since you know so much about the situation in Precipice Cave, why don’t you go there yourself? Why did you ask me to go? Do you know how dangerous that Yulian is? I was lucky not to die there…”
Connor suddenly realized that something was amiss. He furrowed his brows and shouted at Jorge.
“Didn’t I give you the Gathering Spirit Pill? As long as you take it, even if there’s ten Yulians, they wouldn’t be a match for you…”
Jorge said lightly.
“It’s not about the pill. I don’t understand why, since you know so much about the situation in Precipice Cave, you don’t go there yourself. Why did you ask me to go? Don’t you know it’s risky? Are you trying to train me?”
Connor asked in a puzzled tone.
“Train you?”
Upon hearing this, Jorge sneered and said indifferently, “What is there for you to train?”
“Then why did you ask me to go?”
Connor pursued.
“I do know that the Soul-calling Grass is in Precipice Cave, and I know that Yulian has been guarding it all along. The reason I didn’t go myself is that I hate doing such things!”
Jorge replied calmly.
“Do you think it’s embarrassing?”
Connor asked, taken aback.
“Well, if I were to personally snatch the Soul-calling Grass, I might become the laughingstock of others. After all, someone at my level doing something like stealing someone else’s medicinal herb would be quite embarrassing…”
Jorge didn’t deny it, directly nodding and saying.
Connor looked at Jorge, instantly speechless. He stared with wide eyes and shouted, “Fine, you old scoundrel! If you think it’s embarrassing, then you make me go, right? Aren’t I embarrassing enough?”
“Well, nobody knows you, so what’s there for you to be embarrassed about?”
Jorge confidently retorted.
Upon hearing his words, Connor was instantly speechless, not knowing how to refute him.
