Chapter 105: Ch.104 Parallax
Chapter 105: Ch.104 Parallax
Su Ming had planned this in advance. Dealing with flying enemies who excelled at energy projection was a weak point for him. He had to rely on others\' power to set the stage.
Let the ring-wielders handle the ring-wielders.
But if it were just any ordinary Lantern, even a corps wouldn\'t be a match for Dawnbreaker\'s lights-out protocol. The more they relied on their rings, the more they would be countered by it.
However, among ring-bearers, Sinestro was an exception. He was not only the leader of the Sinestro Corps, the most powerful Yellow Lantern, but he also housed the fear entity, Parallax, within him— the embodiment of fear itself in the universe.
Barbatos wielded darkness and fear as his power, but Parallax was fear itself. This meant that when Barbatos enhanced himself with fear, he was also indirectly enhancing Parallax.
The stronger Parallax became, the stronger the Sinestro Corps would be.
Seeing Sinestro join the battlefield, Su Ming felt at ease. He simply sat down beside Hal, patted his shoulder, and leisurely lit a cigarette.
"Do you really think Sinestro can handle Dawnbreaker?" Hal looked up at the sky, where the yellow light flickered in the darkness.
"These are extraordinary circumstances. Normally, Sinestro wouldn\'t stand a chance. His death in that other world already proved that. But now, with Barbatos amplifying fear across the universe, this power is being funneled into the little mustache guy. Right now, he\'s practically the God of Fear."
Su Ming answered lazily. Hal could figure this out too; he had been the host for Parallax before and understood the depth of fear. He just didn\'t want to admit it out of pride.
Seeing Hal fall silent, Su Ming didn\'t want to demoralize him further. He waved to Barry, signaling him to be ready. If Dawnbreaker fell to the ground, they\'d need to get over there immediately.
Neither Sinestro nor Diana had any of the \'metal\' needed for a lethal blow.
In the sky, Dawnbreaker was entangled by Diana, while Sinestro\'s yellow fear energy beams were being hurled at him without restraint.
The fight, which originally resembled a Quidditch match, turned into a Dragon Ball-style showdown the moment Sinestro joined in.
Dawnbreaker, despite running his lights-out protocol at full capacity, felt trouble looming as the yellow light shone with incredible brightness, as if the entire universe was opposing him. A bad premonition crept into his heart.
Sinestro sensed Dawnbreaker\'s unease and a smile of joy spread across his crimson face.
"Ah, I can smell it. I can smell the fear coming off you!"
"No! I\'ve killed you before, and I can do it again now!"
"Haha, look! Another cocky Lantern. I\'ve killed so many fools like you who didn\'t know their place! Their corpses could pile up into a planet!"
Sinestro raised his ring, forming a massive sphere of yellow energy. Everything in the city turned as bright as daylight. Diana seized the opportunity to land a sword strike on Dawnbreaker\'s lower back, slashing through his utility belt but barely scratching his skin.
Before Dawnbreaker could boast about his defenses, Sinestro\'s energy bomb shot toward him, forcing him to use his lights-out energy to counteract it.
As a veteran powerhouse, Sinestro had fought countless wars. He quickly sensed that his enemy seemed to have some special protection.
He began to devise a strategy.
He glanced down at Hal on the ground, looking to see if he had any suggestions. But Hal was dejected, his face full of confusion. Meanwhile, Deathstroke was gesturing with his greatsword.
Sinestro understood and couldn\'t help but smile. He liked smart people, and his corps was mostly full of idiots and maniacs. Deathstroke seemed like a promising recruit.
The insignia of the Yellow Lantern Corps flashed in his eyes. In his view, Dawnbreaker was already dead.
Dawnbreaker saw the smile too and couldn\'t help but feel his heart skip a beat. A strong sense of crisis washed over him.
"Ring!"
He shouted, and immediately, countless nightmare creatures poured out of his ring. They were monsters covered in tentacles and shapeless organs, indescribable and unnameable beings.
Against ordinary people, this move would be quite effective. Just seeing these creatures would drive most people insane. But his opponent now was Sinestro.
The moment those creatures appeared, Sinestro\'s power surged. He loved things that could instill fear. The creatures summoned by the Dawnbreaker\'s ring were just to his liking.
"You\'ve got the wrong ring, kid!" Sinestro, with his red face, laughed loudly. His fear energy swept away the approaching creatures like a wave. "There\'s a void in your heart, and I will fill it with fear!"
He looked at Dawnbreaker, who was still struggling with Diana in the sky, shifting positions constantly, and clenched his hand into a fist before his face. Yellow light spread like a tide, and his body was suddenly clad in golden armor and a cape.
"In the brightest of day, in the blackest of night."
"Beware your fears made into light."
"Let those who try to stop what\'s right."
"Burn like my power... Sinestro\'s might!"
Sinestro sped toward the two, grasping Dawnbreaker\'s hands and staring coldly into his eyes, saying, "Bear witness to fear."
As he spoke, an enormous, blindingly bright creature burst out of Sinestro\'s chest, spanning the sky. It looked like a centipede, or perhaps a beast, with countless forms of nightmare creatures visible in its structure. It was the embodiment of the fear emotion in the universe.
The Yellow Lantern Corps\' entity: Parallax.
The nightmare creatures manifested by Dawnbreaker\'s ring were not even the size of one of its tendrils. In a universe now drenched in fear, Parallax\'s power was at an all-time high.
Unlike the despairing Hal beside him, Slade didn\'t worry about Sinestro destroying the world. The Sinestro Corps represented a form of emotional energy. If the universe were destroyed, there would be no one left to supply fear.
So, no matter how powerful the Yellow Lantern Corps became, they were naturally opposed to Barbatos.
The mighty entity immediately collided with Dawnbreaker. Its fangs and claws should have torn him to shreds in an instant, but protected by dark energy, this earth-shattering strike merely sent him flying, plummeting toward the ground.
Seeing the sonic boom clouds suddenly appear in the sky, Su Ming seized the moment.
"Barry, now!"
Barry looked up, grabbed Deathstroke, and activated the Speed Force. Within the span of a bullet\'s flight, Su Ming raised his giant sword with both hands, positioning it toward the sky.
They appeared directly beneath Dawnbreaker. If Su Ming\'s calculations were correct, Dawnbreaker would be impaled directly on the sword. Su Ming had meticulously calculated the position to pierce his heart, not just his guts or intestines.
But Dawnbreaker was not unconscious; he was merely falling uncontrollably. As he was about to be skewered by Su Ming, he shouted loudly.
"Teleport!"
Barbatos wielded dark magic. When a Nightmare Batman called upon him, he could sense it and instantly teleport the Dark Knight away. However, Red Death and the Merciless never had the chance as they were killed instantly.
A small portal filled with black clouds and lightning appeared beside Dawnbreaker, pulling him toward it with a strange suction. His entire body seemed to become pliable, stretching like noodles.
Su Ming knew this ability well. If not for the fear of them escaping using this method, he wouldn\'t have resorted to such self-destructive tactics twice before.
As Dawnbreaker shouted for teleportation, Su Ming simultaneously said to Barry, "Speed Force."
Barry, already accustomed to working with him, immediately tapped his shoulder, enveloping them both in golden lightning.
The moment Dawnbreaker was pulled into the portal, Slade suddenly accelerated, leaping high. Seeing Dawnbreaker\'s twisted form, he executed a jump slash with the Nightfall Greatsword.
Whoosh!
The dark portal vanished, and Su Ming, who had leapt high, landed with a roll to dissipate the impact. He immediately checked his greatsword, where blood was flowing down in torrents. The black metal was covered with red veins.
Thud.
The second thud came from Dawnbreaker\'s lower half hitting the ground. He had already been halfway into the portal, but Deathstroke, shrouded in the Speed Force, was far quicker, intercepting him and severing him in half.
Crack.
The legs, along with the pelvic bones, twitched under nervous impulses. To prevent Barbatos from reattaching the body, Slade drove his greatsword into the ground, completely destroying the spine, pelvis, and nerves. It finally stopped moving.
Diana, descending from the sky, and Barry beside her, looked at the spot where the greatsword had impaled. Their lips twitched. Dawnbreaker was in a pit
