Chapter 6: The Spirit King Past & Present!
Being his son meant that he was bound not to live a peaceful life.
His father threw him in the pit of death when he was three, leaving behind only three words.
Try to survive.
The pit of hell was a great depression in the earth with many pathways, and it was a place full of snakes and poisonous creatures.
Xie Yang fought them, killed them, got injured by them, got poisoned by them, and even ate snakes and other insects to survive. Eventually, he made his way out of the pit after eight years of cultivation, only to meet an inquisitor of night, the most loyal of his father\'s followers.
The inquisitor took him to his father.
His father didn\'t smile or anything.
He didn\'t even utter a single word of praise.
He merely picked him and threw him in the evil jar where there were 999 young boys and girls.
His father told them to kill each other, and the last one surviving would get to leave alive and become the prince of night.
Xie Yang had to step on many bodies to become the prince of the night.
Eventually, he outsmarted his father and broke free from his control.
He then met many good people who shaped him into a better person, and he ended up becoming the king of the spirit world, more powerful and respected than his father, who died under the hands of the other princes of the night.
He had the worst father in his previous life.
However, in this life, he had the best father.
City Lord Xie Yong, his current father, was like a gift from heaven!
Lord Xie Yang wanted to repay him, help him become glorious, help him obtain whatever he wanted to hold.
At least this way, he would be able to repay a part of the favor Father Xie Yong had bestowed him.
For now, he lacked the ability to do that.
So, he could only show the respect he had for his father by bowing his head.
"You fool! You haven\'t recovered, so why are you here putting strain on your body!" City Lord Xie Yong angrily scolded his son while gently helping him stand up. He was not the type of father to demand filial pity from his son. He didn\'t like seeing his sons kneel to him, be it Xie Yang, Xie Kai, or Xie Tong!
He told his foolish son to go, accompany his wife, eat with her, rest, and focus on taking care of his body. Then, he left.
Lord Xie Yang returned to the room and sat beside his wife. The food had cooled slightly, but it was still warm and eatable. The two started eating in harmony.
"Say ah." Lord Xie Yang picked up a piece of meat and told his wife to open her mouth so he could place it in her mouth.
"Ah~" Lin Hua followed his wishes and opened her mouth.
Lord Xie Yang placed it in her mouth, and she chewed on it. He wanted her to eat lots of meat as she was too slim. Being slim was good, but too thin wasn\'t. When he touched her, he could feel her bones. That told a hell lot. He was sure that his father-in-law and stepmother-in-law mistreated Lin Hua, causing her to be malnourished.
Now that she was in safe hands, he would make sure to fill her to the brim with tasty food.
"Mm-mm, the meat is too tender and tasty." Lin Hua said.
"It\'s good, right. So have more. We\'ve plenty here." Lord Xie Yang fed her another piece.
Lin Hua subconsciously kept on eating whatever he was putting in her mouth. After a while, she realized what was happening and felt terrible. He wasn\'t eating and only focusing on feeding her! What kind of wife was she to notice that so late?!
"Lord Husband, let me feed you too." Lin Hua said.
"Okay, do it."
Lord Xie Yang was pretty happy with her attentiveness, and he happily let her feed him. The two helped each other, creating a harmonious scene, a perfect marriage.
There were many maids outside his courtyard. He just needed to say their name or ring the silver bell attached to his belt to call anyone of them. After having breakfast, he did that, and two maids who looked similar to each other entered his room and greeted him and his wife. The two were his personal maid. They were twins, called Hei and Bei.
As they were orphans and servants, they didn\'t have a surname. He told them to bring a basin, and they returned with it after a few minutes.
"Should I help you clean your hands and face?" Lord Xie Yang asked his wife. How much he dotted Lin Hua was visible to the two maids.
How could she dare trouble her lord husband with such miscellaneous task?!
"No, please don\'t trouble yourself with that," Lin Hua said. "I can do that myself."
"Let the maids do it." Lord Xie Yang said.
"Hei, Bei, help me look after her. Treat her like you treat me."
"Yes, Young master!" The two maids bowed.
"Are you going somewhere?" Lin Hua asked.
Lord Xie Yang nodded and said, "I want to try my hands at cultivation and see if I can communicate with spiritual energy while basking under the glorious sun. I will be in the back garden. If you miss me, send one of the maids there to get me. I will come back to you running."
He winked at her.
.She didn\'t shy away, only thinking that he was too romantic.
"I hope you succeed." Lin Hua wished him well.
One of the two maids coughed. How hard was it to cultivate? Too hard! That\'s why only one in ten thousand people had the chance to cultivate. Their lord had just recovered and didn\'t even have the teaching of a master, so how could he start cultivating? They had such thoughts but didn\'t dare say a word.
They were just servants who couldn\'t stop their master from wasting his time.
Well, Hei and Bei were in for a shock!
"I will be back before night." Lord Xie Yang placed a kiss on his wife\'s forehead and turned to leave.
"Please return back to me safely." Lin Hua said as she saw him leave the room.
Lord Xie Yang, who had one leg out of his room, turned around, and while looking at her gently, he said, "I will."
