Chapter 114 Magitek VS Grand Paladin 3

On the screen, the intense battle led the combatants towards an abandoned, unfinished building—a casualty of the economic crisis. Despite its neglected state, the building boasted a remarkably durable foundation and structure, once intended to become the iconic landmark of Sector Alpha City.

As the two fighters entered the building, the camera angle from the observer's perspective hindered their ability to continue monitoring the fight.

"Are there any cameras in the area that can provide continued observation?" the leader urgently inquired of his subordinates.

"I'm afraid not, sir. It's an abandoned building, and deploying a drone would be too late," reported the subordinate.

Hearing this, the leader let out a heavy sigh, reaching for a cigarette in his pocket. However, a dainty hand belonging to the young woman beside him gently halted his motion.

"Greg, please don't. You promised me you would quit smoking," Amy pleaded, her eyes reflecting both gentleness and worry.

Greg, the observation team leader of the Tessia Kingdom Royal Court Mage, had seized the opportunity presented by the disappearances of Victor, Lucien, and his former boss, Klaus. Utilizing the loophole that no one could give him orders, leaving Greg as the most senior officer in the Royal Court Mage department. He and his entire team had resigned from their positions.

The reason for this arrangement stemmed from Envy's desperate search for someone to keep a close watch on Magitek, leading her to reach out to the team that possessed the most information about him—undoubtedly his own team.

As a result, Greg was equipped with top-of-the-line observation equipment and artifacts sourced from the personal resources of the Hightower Grand Councilor. Envy even went as far as purchasing this permanent office from the Tessia Royal Court Mage Department, creating a familiar working environment for him. Envy's generosity had won Greg over completely, but it came at the cost of increased workload, although the pay and prestige were also significantly higher.

Greg paused in his tracks, feeling the weight of his promise to Amy to quit smoking. Despite his best intentions, changing his habits proved challenging. He handed all of his cigarettes to his girlfriend, letting out a sigh tinged with frustration.

"Ah… Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it's fine. But after this, I'll demand a vacation from Miss Envy. This is just too much. As if the events during the early evening weren't enough, now Magitek is engaged in a fierce battle with a Vice Leader of the Vatican Secret Exterminator Unit. Does that Magitek guy somehow know I'm observing him and deliberately cause trouble to pile more work on my plate? F*ckkkkkk!" Greg vented his frustration at length, using complaints as a coping mechanism for his stress.

Greg indulged in a few more moments of lengthy complaints, a common occurrence whenever he accumulated too much stress. Ever since he started dating Amy and attempted to quit smoking, his complaints seemed to escalate. However, his team didn't mind it much, as they found his humorous rants to be a form of entertainment.

After venting, Greg regained his composure, his face turning serious as he issued a command.

"Activate the Sky Eyes artifact! Don't worry about the mana consumption! I'll request additional mana containers from Miss Envy later. This is an emergency," Greg ordered.

"Yes, sir!" his subordinate quickly proceeded to the equipment, which resembled a large orb resting on an obsidian pillar.

On the floor, there were six designated spots for mages to stand on, three on each side of the orb. The mana containers took the form of metal tubes, emanating a blue glow from within through the glass lids. One of Greg's subordinates prepared three mana containers on the side and inserted the first one into the energy chamber within the obsidian pillar.

The two subordinates positioned on either side of the contraption began using their senses to control the artifact, causing it to display a visual feed of the ongoing battle inside the abandoned building.

Within the building, the battle raged on, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The pillars, once sturdy and intact, now bore deep gashes and marks from the relentless clash of blades. The vast expanse of the abandoned structure, originally planned as a grand conference room, had become an impromptu gladiatorial arena for a deadly dance of swords.

Blades clashed with lightning speed, creating a symphony of metal on metal. The combatants exhibited unmatched skill and precision, their every movement a testament to their mastery. Each blow exchanged was a calculated exchange of strength and speed, surpassing the limits of mere mortals.

As the intensity reached its peak, the tide of the battle was about to shift. Christopher, with his right arm on the brink of completing its regeneration, was on the verge of unleashing its power.

Clank!

The clash of blades resounded once more, forcing the two opponents to momentarily retreat. Despite relying solely on his left arm while awaiting the full recovery of his right, Christopher had managed to hold his ground admirably.

Daniel, wielding both his combat knife and short sword, sought to exploit his advantage and inflict injury upon Christopher. Though he was able to land a few hits, the wounds were not substantial enough to impede Christopher's combat prowess. His defensive skills were unmatched, rendering Daniel unable to breach his formidable guard.

Although Christopher stood on the verge of gaining the upper hand with the completion of his regenerated right arm, there was no sense of elation within him. He couldn't even make a scratch on Daniel's clothing throughout their prolonged clash. As he faced the renowned Magitek, Christopher came to the realization that he couldn't surpass the iron-like defense that protected his opponent, let alone cut through his garments.

In addition, the fighting style and martial arts techniques employed by Magitek were strikingly familiar to Christopher. It was a style he knew all too well, as it was the very same style taught within the Vatican Secret Exterminator Unit.

Christopher couldn't help but marvel at the level of mastery exhibited by Magitek. Had it been anyone else from the Secret Exterminator Unit facing Magitek in close-quarters combat, they would have undoubtedly succumbed within the first three minutes.

"Tell me, Magitek," Christopher inquired, his curiosity piqued, "where did you learn that fighting style? It bears a resemblance to the techniques we employ in the Vatican Secret Exterminator Unit."

"Cornelius Van Helsing. That is the name of the individual who owns this technique," Daniel revealed, his mind already formulating a plan to neutralize the Grand Paladin's combat abilities.

"Lies!" Christopher retorted with disdain, refusing to believe Daniel's words. "Cornelius Van Helsing has been dead for centuries."

"Believe it or not, it's your choice," Daniel replied calmly, standing firm in his assertion.

With tensions running high, Christopher decided to abandon his skepticism and focused on the present threat. He unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks, utilizing both of his arms to strike at Daniel with full force. The clash intensified as blades clashed, and sparks flew in the air.

Daniel swiftly retreated, utilizing his exceptional speed to put distance between himself and Christopher. However, Christopher, displaying his own inhuman speed, pursued relentlessly. In a moment of desperation, Daniel triggered a small trap he had secretly set on the floor with his foot.

BOOM!

An explosion reverberated through the air as a mine detonated, unleashing a hailstorm of hundreds of silver nails. These were the very same weapons Daniel had used against the vampire reinforcements during the attack on the Willow family estate. Christopher reacted swiftly, evading the immediate danger and deflecting any nails that came too close.

Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank!

The resounding clanks of metal echoed in the abandoned building as the silver nails ricocheted off Christopher's body. Despite his divine defense, he couldn't dismiss the threat entirely, as these specialized weapons possessed the ability to penetrate his blessed cloth.

"Humph! Silver nails? I'm not one of those foul creatures!" Christopher's voice dripped with disdain. He felt a sense of humiliation and frustration, forced to protect himself and forsake the opportunity to finish off Daniel.

Without uttering a word, Daniel swiftly calculated his next move. He released two blade drones, their sharp blades spinning at high speed as they homed in on Christopher. Stunned by Daniel's new weapon, Christopher sensed the imminent danger emanating from those blades. He knew that if they made contact, his divine defense would prove ineffective against the unknown Atlantean steel.

Reacting swiftly, Christopher hurled a barrage of blades towards the drones while preparing a fresh set of blades. He didn't expect his blessed blades to destroy the drones; they could only serve as a temporary delay and distraction.

Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank!

The blades ricocheted off the drone armor, proving ineffective, and the drones continued their relentless pursuit of Christopher. The Grand Paladin infused his hand-held blade with faith energy, launching a counterattack. This time, the drones were deflected further away, but their return was inevitable. Like homing missiles, they closed in on Christopher once again.
