Chapter 466: The Advantage of Modern Spell

Daniel looked at Michaela as if asking, "Is this guy for real?" He seemed more like a neighborhood dude who often got high on green herbs.

He never thought Leviathan would be this giddy over just one Chromatic Philosopher's Stone. Yes, he knew that both Mammon and Satan liked them very much, but he never thought that a Hell Lord like Leviathan would be this overjoyed with something Daniel could easily synthesize out of thin air.

Michaela shrugged and smiled wryly. She wasn't a Hell Lord, nor did she know them well enough to judge.

Shifting his senses to Leviathan, Daniel could feel that Leviathan's soul, nourished by his "Special Chromatic Philosopher's Stone," was falling at high speed toward the bayou below. Obviously, he was trying to gain freedom, and Daniel let it happen since Envy's gift was still embedded within Leviathan's soul, but not without precautions, of course.

What he did to that Chromatic Philosopher's Stone was infuse it with an advanced tracking spell that Albert had taught him. The spell would track the soul signature of the one who triggered its tracking function or by the will of the user.

Obviously, this spell wasn't in the 'Archmage' profession skill set because it was invented after the Arthurian legend period, and his Archmage profession card came from that exact era. It only had some powerful ancient spells and oracle spells that required a lot of mana and arduous spell preparation and rituals, which could easily be compensated by the card in his mindscape.

As for utility spells like simple tracking spells, sealing spells, or spells used in daily life, they weren't as advanced because of the lack of research compared to the spells the Hightower mages used. He theorized that during that time, what people really do need from mages is firepower—the kind of firepower that the technology of that era couldn't compare to.

And the demand for utility and daily usage spells are lacking thus also the lack of researching in that area of spell.

But in modern times, those needs of overwhelming firepower had already been compensated for, and the concept became quite obsolete with the birth of modern gunfire and the invention of nuclear bombs.

That's why modern mage spells aren't as powerful or capable of the unthinkable and impossible like ancient spells, but they are very advanced in their ease of use, and the variety and diversity of utility spells are much better than the spells that come with the Archmage profession.

Daniel stood up from his seat and looked at the unconscious body of General Moore. He needed to edit this guy's memory to keep him mum about magic and make him more useful in court.

This was one of the utility spells he got from the Archmage profession—a memory-editing spell that only worked on non-magical beings such as normal humans. He could see the need for this spell and its convenience.

Daniel edited General Moore's memory, cutting out everything related to magic and inserting some twisted facts such as a zombie virus and illegal experimentation—the sort of thing that could justify the magical phenomenon during the war with a scientific explanation.

After finishing editing General Moore's memory, Daniel called for his people waiting outside to drag the unresponsive General into a regular cell.

This room was a specially designed holding cell that prevented supernatural beings from using their powers. Using knowledge gained from the Clockwork Master, Daniel had created a device that interfered with the flow of mana, rendering most unscientific creatures powerless unless aided from outside.

"Where are we now?" Daniel asked Michaela, inquiring about their current location.

"Above the Big Cypress area in Florida, my lord," Michaela replied confidently. "We estimate the carryall will reach the Oceanos, awaiting us in the Caribbean, in about 70 minutes."

It wasn't that she was simply a useless archangel who was terrible at cooking and loved Korean dramas. She possessed other skills as well, particularly as an assistant... as long as it didn't involve the kitchen, of course.

Unfortunately, her lord usually assigned her to bodyguard duty for his child and others like Lady Koyuki. Otherwise, she would prefer staying by his side and performing assistance work.

Thinking of assistance, she recalled a scene from a drama where a domineering CEO passionately made love to his assistant in the office. Michaela glanced at her lord...

[Aaaahhhhhhhh! I'm such a sinner!] Michaela screamed internally, covering her face with her hands in embarrassment. This earned a confused look from Daniel.

"Florida, huh…" Daniel walked to the window and looked down at the vast bayou below. He considered whether he should recapture that slippery eel Leviathan. Then he remembered that it was now impossible for Leviathan to regain his full power thanks to Envy, so he decided to let him be.

The only way Leviathan could return to his former glory was by coming to Envy and serving her as a pet. Otherwise, there was no way Envy would make any changes to the power "Self-Sealing" she had given him.

"Hmp… I'll let you enjoy your freedom for now," Daniel muttered. He saw no use for Leviathan at the moment. As for the future? Let him find a way to thrash Lucifer inside his hellhole first; then he would come back to get Leviathan as his guide.

"Full speed to Oceanos, Michaela. We have a lot to do in Washington D.C.," Daniel said to the Archangel.

"Yes, my lord," Michaela responded with a bow, then relayed her lord's order to the officers within the carryall through her earpiece.

The pilot immediately increased the speed of the carryall and brought it to a higher altitude as the crew quickly prepared the inventory and boxes within the cargo hold. They needed to move various documents and evidence from the White House to Oceanos for processing before returning to Washington D.C. with reinforcements to help the rebels.
