Chapter 117: We Run
\'Why are you asking me? I don\'t know!\' Linfel answered straight away.
\'Alright, alright,\' Alvin tried to calm down. \'You can help her wake up, right? Whatever is her mental blockage, it doesn\'t seem something easy to overcome. Perhaps she won\'t overcome it at all.\'
\'I can,\' Linfel confirmed. \'I can use my own Soul Power and get rid of the Soul Power that is causing Milia to have that dream. However...\' Linfel turned serious. \'It also means she will be losing her chance to overcome whatever was her mental demon. You managed to overcome yours, right? Do you think it was a waste of time?\'
Alvin shook his head straight away. \'No... That dream made me realize many things. But... should we truly just wait to see if she wakes up?\'
Linfel faintly smiled. \'Just sit on her side. I\'m going to use my Soul Power to pull your consciousness into hers. Basically, you will see her dream. Don\'t worry, though. Whatever happens inside will be nothing more than scary.
It will have no real effect on your soul.\'
\'You can do that?\' Alvin felt like he was hearing some impossible thing.
\'Hum... I have never tried it before, but I think it is possible. It is all about making a bridge between your Soul Waves and Milia\'s. In any case, it has no risk for you or her, so it is worth a try,\' Linfel explained.
Alvin pondered about it and looked at the elders on the stage. \'Won\'t they notice?\'
\'Don\'t worry,\' Linfel faintly smiled. \'I will be connected to you and Milia at the same time. Obviously, I can use my Magic Energy to control your body. I\'ll make it look like you are awake and just taking care of her. Most of the Maguses and Familiars are still sleeping anyway, so no one will bother you.\'
Alvin remembered how Linfel used their connection to control his body before, so he understood it was possible. \'Alright, let\'s give it a try.\'
Linfel nodded and connected with Alvin and Milia while using a very feeble Magic Energy circulation. After all, there wasn\'t supposed to be a Familiar that could connect with two Maguses at the same time. Even if one of the elders came to check on them, they wouldn\'t really understand what was happening as the process was quite different.
Linfel\'s newly acquired Soul Power flowed out of his body before entering Alvin and Milia\'s souls. Through his own core, he made the bridge between their consciousness. \'Alvin, do not fight me. Soul Power is very hard to control and extremely easy to defend. If you use even a little bit of Magic Energy around your soul, I will immediately lose my connection with your mind.
Then I will have to start again.\'
\'Understood.\' Alvin had very good control over Magic Energy, thanks to Linfel, so he didn\'t have a problem doing what Linfel asked.
Finally, the connection between the two souls happened, and Alvin\'s consciousness was pulled into Milia\'s dream.
"Hum?" Alvin opened his eyes, although he couldn\'t see anything due to the darkness in there.
*Zush!*
Right after, Linfel appeared on his side, and his ethereal form finally illuminated the surroundings a bit. "Well, seems like it worked. Good. Your soul wasn\'t destroyed."
Alvin\'s mouth twitched. "Des... troyed? I think I remember you mentioning there was no risk involved."
Linfel nodded. "Exactly. However, that was just my opinion. I have never tried it before, so I couldn\'t be sure, right? Perhaps the consciousness of another magus could have caused some weird conflict that would kill you two. Anyway, everything is fine, just as I thought."
#%@$#$@%!!!
It took a minute for Alvin to calm down, but he eventually did. He also noticed that his body was all ethereal, just like Linfel\'s. It\'s just that it didn\'t give any light.
*grrrr...*
Suddenly, he heard a growl from behind. He turned around and noticed a little girl approaching. "Is that..."
"Yes," Linfel nodded. "She is one of the Little Girls I mentioned. It\'s weird, though. The little girls that pursued me had their faces changed into some grotesque monsters before coming after me. This one, however, just seems an angry kid."
Alvin approached with caution, and Linfel followed. Once they got closer, the light coming from Linfel\'s body illuminated the girl\'s face better. "It is truly Milia... although she looks very, very young."
The girl took a step back and continued to growl at him, seeming afraid. Alvin looked around, and didn\'t see the monster Linfel mentioned, so he got on his knees and smiled at the girl, who was most likely Milia. "Hey, Milia, do you remember me?"
He then tried to extend his hand...
*Grawl!*
However, the girl immediately bit it... or so she tried. Her attempt passed straight through Alvin\'s hand, only scaring him for a moment.
"You are just a projection of your consciousness. Naturally, you don\'t have a body," Linfel explained. "Well, I also took a few minutes to notice this obvious point, so I ran from them for a while when I came here my first time."
Alvin sighed. "You should just tell everything at once. So, I can\'t touch her?"
"You can," Linfel nodded. "Just focus on your hand and wish for it. Then, it shall be. This is a dream world, after all."
The girl tried to bite Alvin again, but she always missed. In one of the attempts, Alvin waited for her to miss and caught her, holding the girl. "Calm down, calm down. Why are you angry? Tell your brother Alvin. He will hear you."
Yet, as soon as he did that, several other sources of light appeared everywhere around him. Many other little girls got up and looked at Alvin for a moment.
When they did, Alvin noticed the girl in his arms trembling. When he turned his eyes back at the other girls, all their faces transformed into the monsters Linfel mentioned earlier... and attacked.
"See, I wasn\'t lying," Linfel nodded, satisfied.
Alvin quickly got up and jumped out of the way when the monsters tried to attack him. "Holy shit!"
However, the moment Alvin jumped out, he noticed the monsters didn\'t come after him. Instead, they all pounced at the little Milia he was holding just a moment ago. The little Milia just closed her eyes, seeming to accept her fate. She intended to let the monsters eat her.
"Fuck!" Alvin immediately circulated his Magic Energy and stomped the ground. Several Earth Spikes sprout from below, impaling the monsters that tried to catch the little Milia. "Oh, it works!"
"As I said, all you need to do is wish for it," Linfel smiled in response.
Alvin just ignored the wisp and caught the little Milia again. However, even more sources of light filled the darkness as many, many more of those little girls with monster faces took form. They all came after the Little Milia.
Of course, Alvin tried to retaliate... but soon noticed his control over his Magic Energy wasn\'t doing much good. "What is happening?"
Linfel, who helped on the side, explained. "I believe it\'s because this is not your dream; it\'s hers. Your wishes don\'t carry much power here."
"Fuck!" Alvin complained. "What do we do?"
Linfel looked around, seeing that they were about to be surrounded. "What else? We run!"
