Claiming My Possessive CEO Husband

Chapter 521: Can You Afford to Give Out 200,000 Dollars?

“Daddy just gave Xaviera Evans 200,000 dollars to keep her spirits up. Anna, you should know, you’re daddy’s favorite daughter. About the misunderstanding you had with Elijah Flack during the film shoot, you must clarify things. It’s crucial that we maintain a good relationship with the Flack family in Imperial Capital. It will greatly benefit the Campbell family’s business.”

Anna Campbell obediently nodded, smiling triumphantly, she knew her parents still loved her—Xaviera Evans was just a stranger linked by blood relation.

Daddy gave her 10 million dollars, but only gave Xaviera Evans 200,000 dollars in pocket change. That said everything.

200,000 dollars to the Campbell family was nothing more than the cost of a pair of shoes or a clothing set for Mr. Campbell. Her study desk alone cost hundreds of thousands. Looking at the joyous expression on Xaviera Evans’ face after receiving the 200,000 dollars, then heading upstairs looking all excited, it was apparent she hadn’t seen much of the world.

Anna smiled faintly, “Don’t worry, daddy, I will perform well at the party.”

Upstairs bedroom.

After Xaviera Evans entered, she dumped the bank card casually on the table.

200,000 dollars, Jeremy Campbell could provide that much?

They really are from the same family!

At least her father, unlike Mrs. Campbell—full of hostility, or Anna—with her plots and plans, treated her quite decently. But Xaviera Evans knew, in spite of Mr. Campbell’s outward benevolence, he viewed her as an asset to be utilized.

To use her to woo Caleb Mamet at the Flack family party.

Unfortunately for them, the Flack family house was her home and Caleb Mamet, her husband!

How on Earth could the Campbell family outsmart her?

The next day.

News of the Flack family hosting a party in Libanan spread within the upper class, but they didn’t invite many guests—only family friends.

The Campbells, having received an invitation, took great delight in this, believing they qualified as friends of the Flack family.

To everyone, the Flack’s invitation signified their intent to associate with the Campbell family. Thus, if reciprocated, attendance was expected.

Despite the backing of the Hughes family, the Campbells’ footing in Lokio remained unstable and unimpressive amidst other wealthy families.

Mrs. Campbell, being the daughter of the Hughes family, understood the importance of this party and instructed Anna, “At the Flack’s, don’t leave my side. And remember, Mrs. Flack said it’s just a gathering of their closest friends and family, so don’t overdress, or it may come off as excessive.”

Mrs. Campbell had already prepared a dress for Anna to wear to the party. It wasn’t particularly extravagant—a light blue princess dress that reached her knees. However, upon closer inspection, the craftsmanship was exquisite, and the attached diamond waistband sparkled under the light.

Anna giggled in delight, “Thank you, mother! The dress is beautiful. But, what will my sister… what will she wear to the party?”

Hearing Anna’s question, impatience filled Mrs. Campbell’s eyes, “She can wear whatever, it’ll suffice. Afterall, she isn’t there to attend the party, but to please Caleb Mamet! She’s just a country bumpkin who grew up in the countryside. No matter how well she dresses, she can’t hide her provincialism. Just having the opportunity to attend this party is an honour for her!”

A hint of ruthlessness flashed in Anna’s eyes as the corners of her mouth hooked into a slight smile.

“Anna, I think you should get to know Mr. Caleb Mamet. Your brother upset him earlier. Once this whole incident is settled and your brother is freed, I will arrange a meeting for you guys. You must perform well and try to win him over!”

An embarrassed Anna mumbled shyly, “Mother! Stop that!”

“Why so shy! You’re a grown woman now. Your mother can tell, you actually do like Mr. Caleb Mamet. You’re so beautiful, with a little effort, I’m sure he’ll be into you!”

The Flack family’s mansion.

Mr. Campbell presented the invitation, servants immediately respectfully ushered everyone inside, and assigned personnel to lead the way.
