Eternal life begins with saving my clan

Chapter 212: Sound the Alarm

The following day, the news of the terrifying expert living in the Cao clan spread like wildfire. The news was the number one trend on You Connect.

Every nook and cranny of the cities heard of the news. At first, people found it difficult to believe, but when many people came to testify to the news, it sent shivers down their spine. It was then realized why the Celestial Heavenly Store could stand under such an overwhelming attack.

Just as the people of the cities were still reeling from the shock of such an expert, another bombshell was dropped.

"What do you say?"

"Xiao Bai from the Xiao clan had become the city lord."

"Impossible! What about the current city lord?"

"Are you sure you're part of the people living in this city?"

"Just tell us what you know…"

"For the sake of our friendship. I will tell you. The city lord was killed during the banquet."

What!

The group froze in their spot, wide-eyed. They looked at their friend with disbelieving eyes. Watching their stunned expressions, the young man shook his head and said.

"That's why I told you to work very hard and buy the Spirit Comms."

His friends rolled their eyes in their sockets and wanted to give him a nice beating. Still, the shocking news made them give up such thoughts.

"What are you doing here? Are you not working today?" A woman came from the distance, walking toward the group.

"I'm telling them the latest news since they didn't have money to buy Spirit Comms."

"Oh! Which of the news?" She asked casually.

"The death of the city lord."

"Oh!" She paused and added. "That's old news. Have you heard of the latest news?"

Another latest news?!

Those without the Spirit Comms gasped and sucked in a cold breath. What in the world was happening in their city?

The woman didn't seem to notice their stunned expressions and continued to speak. "Do you hear about the destruction of the Crimson Jade Pavilion?"

What!

And so, the city was thrown into upheaval. Many didn't believe it. But when they visited all the Crimson Jade Pavilion stores, they had been destroyed into rubble.

It was not a single store that was destroyed but every one of their stores in the city. The mass destruction of such a powerful pavilion sent shivers down the spines of the people.

They realized their city of old was no more. It was now under a new rule. A new power was controlling the city.

Just as the commotion was going on in the city, the Zi clan with the privilege of Zi Haoran as the first ranker in the Beauty competition posted a job vacancy on You Connect.

The advertisement was a worldwide announcement that everyone in the city could see as long as they were on You Connect.

With such publicity, the Zi clan received a massive inflow of people looking for the lucrative work.

As the new city lord, the Xiao Clan was given the same privilege as the Zi clan. Thus, they didn't waste a second to release their announcement on You Connect.

Clans that didn't have the privilege to make a worldwide announcement made use of their clansmen to publicize it on their page.

Instantly, the city was thrown into a frenzy of works. What they all had in common was they were construction work in another city.

Even though many didn't know what was going on, that didn't stop the people from gossiping and rejoicing for the free source of income.

While Baiyun city was undergoing a massive change that would change them forever, a place far from them was about to be thrown into a devastating battle.

Deep inside the Dreadshade Forest, all the powerful grade-3 beasts gathered together with their faces having human-like expressions.

"We've all agreed. We should call the only grade-4 beast in our territory," the Elusive Torment Rat announced.

All the grade-3 beasts nodded in agreement. They had waited patiently for this day, and it had finally arrived. The humans must pay for their arrogance.

"Begin," the rat commanded.

Instantly, the Dreadshade forest shook, and various earthshaking changes were happening at every corner of the forest.

At the outermost part of the Dreadshade Forest, close to the Eastern Barren land, a group of adventurers were hunting for precious flowers. They took the mission casually just to earn free spirit stones.

Now, no one was scared of the Dreadshade Forest. With their bloodline power and the rapid increase in their cultivation, only a grade-3 beast could pose a threat to many adventurers' teams.

"Captain, I think we should relax after this mission," a big man said, holding a shield and a long spear.

Standing behind was a young man in his early thirties with a dry grass in his mouth. "Just say it. You only want to visit the brothel."

Hahaha.

The group burst into laughter when they realized their captain knew of the burly man's plot to visit the brothel.

Scratching the back of his head, the burly man grinned and said with a thick face. "Why? Can't I visit the woman of my dreams."

Haha.

He didn't care about his team's laughter and continued to ramble about the beautiful woman in the brothel.

"Quiet!" The Captain shouted with a stern voice.

"Why captain, are you jealous of my lucky star?"

"I….SAID…QUIET."

He glared at him and unsheathed his sword and took a battle stance. Immediately, his team realized something was off and took a battle stance.

The previous chatterbox had a solemn expression. His eyes darted back and forth, searching for enemies.

The forest was deadly quiet. The wind was still, and the sound of animals was gone. For a forest to be deadly quiet like a graveyard, even a fool would sense something was amiss.

"Defensive Formation," the captain whispered.

Without making a noise, the team entered a defensive formation. Suddenly, the ground began to tremble. At first, it was light, but slowly the tremor began to increase.

As the tremor increased, various cries of beasts echoed in the forest. Trees were destroyed, thrown into the sky, cracks appeared on the ground.

The team looked at each other and saw the fear on each other's faces.

"Run!" The captain shouted.

The teams didn't need to be told twice before they turned and escaped with their top speed. Right after they left their position, thousands of various deadly beasts appeared and looked in their forest and chased after them.

"Captain…" The burly man shouted, gasping for air.

He was the weakest person in terms of speed. He was the tank of the team, and all his weapons were heavy. Thus, he was finding it difficult to maintain the same pace as his teammates.

"Don't be a pussy. Run with all your might!" The captain yelled.

The burly man gritted his teeth and pushed himself forward. His breathing was frantic, and his face was covered in sweats. All the nerves on his body were screaming, telling him to stop and take a rest.

However, the deafening sound from behind told him otherwise.

Suddenly, the shaking increased to another level, and the crack on the ground spread wider.

A screech came from the ground, and a giant centipede jumped out and attacked them.

"Watch out!" The captain warned and evaded the deadly poisonous breath.

His teammates reacted swiftly

and dodged the poison, but the burly man was not as swift as others, thus choosing a more direct approach. He covered himself with his shield and defended against the attack.

Sounds of burning came from his shield, sending shivers down his spine. He realized how potent the poison was, and his heart skipped a bit when he thought of what would have happened if it touched his body.

Realizing its attack was useless, the Peak Grade-2 centipede was furious and wanted to attack once again. But this time, the captain reacted first.

A phantom pagoda appeared behind him, and the centipede froze. Shock was even on the beast's face before a blinding light from the captain's sword severed its head into two.

"That was close…" one of the team said as he was trying to catch his breath.

Screech!

The loud screech of the beast in the sky jolted the group out of their breath. They raised their heads and saw thousands of avian beasts in the sky.

The burly man forcefully swallowed the lumps in his throat and without uttering any word began to run. His teammates joined him and began to rush toward the garrison.

They knew they can't make it back to the city on time and thus decided to try their luck for the garrison.

However, luck was not on their side as the avian beasts swarmed toward them when they came out of the forest.

"We can't escape. Take your position." The captain yelled.

In the five-man team, they took their positions and began a desperate fight for their lives.

In the Dreadshade Garrison, the commander received an emergency alert of an incoming beast tide. Without putting on his uniform, bare-chested, he raced toward the defense wall with his heart pounding against his chest. Your next read is on NovelFire|le|mp|yr
