Chapter 765: Royal Treasure
Chapter 765: Royal Treasure
Since there were going to be quite a few pearls linked into a chain, it would be very easy to accidentally create an item that would drain the Siren Prince's mana too quickly, not allowing him to use other attacks. So instead, Eisen created a very simple enchantment, more focusing on the decorative and aesthetic aspect than the item's actual effect. After all, this boss monster was supposed to be a prince, so giving it some particularly fancy jewelry didn't seem like a bad idea. The enchantment itself was just something that would help the Siren Prince maneuver through the water more easily. It was already an incredibly fast swimmer, but it lacked a bit when it came to in-water dexterity. So, to make it more of a threat and make it possible for it to easily and quickly change positions, Eisen would make two anklets and two bracelets for the boss. Each of them would react to the Siren Prince's will and physical movement, directly manipulating the water around it to make maneuverability easier. To connect the pearls together, Eisen used mana-thread that had been woven into a thicker, stronger thread. Using these threads, Eisen made sure that the enchantment on each of the pearls linked together properly as well.

Eisen was happy to see that the final item turned out alright, he just wasn't sure how effective this item was going to be in the end. Making it an exclusive item for the Siren Prince would surely help increase the strength of the effect quite a bit, but it might take the boss a while to get used to. And more importantly, Eisen hoped that the item's effect wasn't too strong or weak, particularly the former. If this made the Siren Prince much more of a force to be reckoned with, then that would break the balance of the whole floor quite a bit. But well... if that happened, then maybe Sigurd could tweak some things, so it might not be that big a deal after all.
It also surprised Eisen to see the 'Royal Beauty' effect on the item. Sure, he made the bracelets and anklets with the idea in mind that they should fit the image of a prince, and he did focus on the aesthetics more than usual, but he still didn't expect this to show itself in the form of an actual effect on the items. Not that he minded, though, it was a pleasant surprise.
Next, Eisen grabbed a light blue gemstone, an aquamarine. He had basically every gemstone that he could ever want to use, but never had the chance to use most of them, so he was glad that opportunities like these ended up appearing every once in a while. Eisen grabbed a relatively large one as well as a few smaller ones. He wanted to create an aquamarine pendant that would act as a centerpiece of the image they all wanted to create for the 'Siren Prince' boss. For the rest of the pendant, he was going to use sterling silver, an alloy of silver and copper to make the silver a better fit to be used for jewelry. Pure silver was generally too soft for these matters.
Since the Siren Prince was
already powerful enough on its own, and Eisen still had to work on the weapon later anyway, he figured that there was no need to make this pendant particularly powerful. Rather, he would just give it enchantments so that there was a general flow of mana within it, but still focus on the aesthetics. Since the bracelets earlier were given the 'Royal Beauty' effect, if he went all-in for that, he might be able to create an improved effect along that line. Having an item that simply existed to instill awe in the onlooker wasn't that bad of an idea anyway. Impressing the ones that took a dive into the dungeon like that was always a good thing.
Of course, Eisen still treated what he was doing as enchanting – just that he didn't try and work toward a specific effect as he would with other enchantments. However, he did plan on placing an ability-enchantment onto the central gemstone. Being a King himself, he had access to Royal abilities, one of which was a charisma-based ability that would place more meaning into what he said as a King. It was the perfect thing to place onto this.
But for that, he had to finish working the gemstone in the first place. Instead of just using transmutation to change the shape of the aquamarine, Eisen carved away at the gemstone using Bai. It simply felt like he was able to give the gemstone more character doing it like this. Eisen, as any craftsman did, had certain habits that slightly affected any piece they worked on. Not particularly negatively or positively, of course, it was just something that gave the piece some more character to it. Those things only came out when Eisen was doing something with his hands directly. If he just used transmutation, then that character would be near impossible to find for anyone. It was a useful ability for most matters, but it was a lot more fun and fulfilling to do it this way, so there was no reason not to. Especially since Eisen could do this quite easily with this body anyway.
He carved the central aquamarine stone into a classic teardrop shape, making the smaller ones round to place around it. Of course, he made sure to actually carve some more aesthetic patterns into the gemstones than normal, just having a bit of fun with this project. After that, Eisen placed one of his royal abilities onto the stone and continued with the rest of the pendant. Eisen walked over to the material storage, grabbing one of the sterling silver bars from his shelf of pre-prepared metals. He had spent quite a bit of time just mixing gemstones and creating alloys so that he could focus on the actual crafting of an item when the time came.
Eisen lit up the forge and heated up the sterling silver. Once its color changed into a glowing yellow, he grabbed it from the flames and placed it onto his anvil, starting to carefully hammer it into the basic shape that he needed. Of course, since this alloy was still quite soft, it barely took him any time at all to reach a nice base shape that he could place the carved aquamarine stones into. After he got the basic shape, he started working on some of the basic details, creating the basic inlets that the stones would be placed into later. He also made sure to add some details into the metal while it was still hot and easily malleable that would connect smoothly to the carvings Eisen had already placed onto the gemstones themselves. The centerpiece in terms of the silver was soon done, and now, Eisen just had to start working on the chain that the pendant would hang from.
Taking one more bar of sterling silver, Eisen fed this material to the thread-transmuting tool that he had standing in the corner. Of course, the base threads created by this material were far too thin to be used for now, so Eisen wove them into a thicker material, weaving threads of aquamarine thread created by the same tool into it, causing even the string that the pendant was hanging from to give of a light blue glimmer.
After the base for the stones was done, Eisen placed the aquamarines into the still slightly hot silver pendant, making sure that the stones were set into the pendant solidly. Luckily, since the pendant would become part of the body of the 'Siren Prince' boss, being recreated every time it was summoned again to fight the next dungeon divers, Eisen didn't have to worry about treating the metal to make it last longer despite the large amount of water it would obviously be exposed to day and day aga
in. Normally, it would become discolored sooner or later, but it shouldn't be an issue in this case, so he could keep it as-is. As such, Eisen was done with the Siren Prince's jewelry for now.
