American Tax Officer

Chapter 179: Chapter 133: Arms Case Resolved, Euphoria in the Big City District_3

Gaboures, puzzled, asked, "What is this?"

"Look and you'll know!"

Gaboures stared at David intently, noting his confident and unafraid demeanor. A bad premonition flickered through his mind, but he still picked up the lists to examine them.

As he gradually took in the contents of the lists, Gaboures's originally calm face turned to surprise, then darkened.

Kane also noticed something was off with his brother and immediately took the lists to look, quickly adopting the same expression as his brother.

"How did you get..."

"We're in the business of equipment, I don't know what this stuff on the lists is!"

Before Kane could finish, Gaboures cut him off abruptly.

Regardless of how David got his hands on them, they were just two lists, including some deposits and remittance accounts.

Though it was a bit troublesome, he was confident that his team of lawyers and network of connections could smooth things over.

If it came to it, they'd just stop doing business with those two forces. Compared to paying tribute to the IRS every month, it was worth it!

David wasn't in a hurry either. He slowly began, "Do you really think we only have these two?"

Gaboures paused, following up with, "What do you mean?"

"On December 19, you provided a batch of arms to a mafia in the downtown area, including 100 M1 series rifles, 10 boxes of grenades, 100 M1911 pistols... The total transaction was Three Million US dollars, and you personally took Six Hundred Thousand US dollars!"

"On December 28, you provided a batch of arms to an African Gang Leader, including 50 RPGs, 1,000 AK47s, 100 TM-62M anti-tank mines... The total transaction was seven million US dollars, and you made one million in profit..."

"And then there's January 14..."

As David detailed each transaction, both Kane and Gaboures grew restless.

They were both shocked and puzzled, having originally thought the IRS was only investigating those two transactions.

What they hadn't expected was that nearly all their deals from the past couple of months had been thoroughly investigated.

Both of them began to suspect an internal leak within their organization.

Otherwise, how could the IRS have obtained so much detailed information?

David didn't care what they were thinking, and continued, "We have details of every transaction you made, every incoming account, as well as the accounts where funds were transferred out. What do you think, should we freeze them all?"

After a lengthy silence, Gaboures's face regained a little color, and with reluctance he said, "Do we have any other choice?"

David rose to his feet and said, "By tomorrow noon, bring all your people and the taxes you owe to downtown to pay off your debt. Don't think about underreporting or inflating the tax amount. If we find out, we won't be as nice as we are now!"

Knowing the other party had no other choice, David left these words behind and turned to push the door and leave.

After he left, Kane asked with indignation, "Big brother, are we just going to let them slaughter us like this? As far as I know, the rates for the Black Tax Law are very high; we need to pay almost 40% of our income!"

Gaboures's face showed alternating emotions, replying, "Do you think I want to?"

If it were only those two lists, that might have been somewhat manageable.

But now it wasn't just the two lists that were simple; all their transactions had been under the watchful eye of the IRS.

If they dared not comply or resist, the fate of the Indian Tribe yesterday could very well be theirs tomorrow!

"This..."

Kane was at a loss for words.

"Go tell them," instructed Gaboures resignedly, "to prepare the money. We've made enough over the years; think of it as shelling out some cash to avert disaster!"

Gaboures sighed helplessly.

...

On the way back, David took out his phone and dialed Keanu's number.

Soon, the call connected, and Keanu's voice came through, "How did it go, Director David?"

"The arms case has been settled. After we collect the money tomorrow, remember to transfer it to our Lake District!"

Meanwhile, in an office at the downtown district station,

When Keanu heard that the arms case was settled, he was initially stunned, then subdued his joy and confirmed again, "Director David, are you serious?"

"Of course."

With confirmation, Keanu finally allowed himself to be truly excited. Then he thought of something else and asked, "Okay, after we receive it tomorrow, I'll transfer it right away to you. How much will it be in total?"

"For Gaboures, it's Six Million, One Hundred Seventy-Seven Thousand Six Hundred US dollars, and for the group's number two, Kane, it's Two Million Three Hundred Thousand US dollars. Including the core members of the group, there should be about Ten Million!"

"What, Ten Million?"

Keanu was startled, then quickly clarified, "The over six million for Gaboures, Kane's two hundred thirty thousand, is that their income, or the amount of taxes they need to pay us?"
