Chapter 119: Erix's Surprise
After booking their room, they flew towards the east part of the Star-Rain mountain range, as they also had some Hunter Guild missions to complete.
They didn't open their event rewards right off the bat since Dark Queen told them to hold on to those reward boxes and only open them after reaching Noble-order for better reward.
"What's the play, Darling?" Rin asked as she clung to Erix's back like a monkey, wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her head on his left shoulder.
"We got a task, but we are not powerful enough to complete it," Erix said while rubbing his chin. "But we have enough time to reach the peak of Supra-order in all stats today and gain unknown improvements."
"Did you choose your class yet?" Rin pulled his cheeks. "Tell me you did."
"Yes, yes, my queen. I did choose my class. I just did now."
"..." Rin adopted a speechless expression. "Which one?" she asked.
"Death Reaper."
Rin hugged him tightly and said, "You can awaken this class. I believe you and will support you until you do it."
"I will," Erix smiled. "Anyway, we are only one level short of reaching level 80, and once we do that, we can start increasing our stats past 200. So let's reach 300 in all stats today by killing monsters."
"I'm sure we can do it in four hours of non-stop killing monsters," Erix added convincingly, eager and raring to get stronger.
Rin grinned and pinched his cheeks. "And while at it, let's try to break through to the next rank in our affinities. We are infinitely closer to it, so we just need a slight push."
"Yep. Let's make sure we'll get inspired to achieve breakthroughs today."
"We'll fight until we are on the verge of blackout and then use the item that Dark Queen gave us to recover and use our combo attack on the carriage to complete the task," Rin cutely grinned. "Sounds good, right?"
"Wait a second, what combo attack?" Erix was confused.
"We'll make one today."
"…" Erix wryly smiled before seriously musing, "If we can get our affinities to rank 2, I feel like we'll have some awesome possibilities."
"Let's nail it today."
And so, the duo began their mayhem in the east of the Star-Rain mountain range.
The area had tons of small mountains, with every so often a pond, lake, or river connecting to each other and then to the sea that existed in the north of the mountain range.
The sea marked the beginning of the inner domain of the Kalaanx Abyss.
With singular determination to get stronger and improve, Rin and Erix were moved through the wilderness of the mountains and waters while killing any that blocked their paths and challenging any monsters that seemed tough.
The first big battle they had was with a horde of Aqua Current Horses, all around level 90 to 100. Their number is close to fifty.
Rin swiftly unsheathed her sword, her blade gleaming in the dappled sunlight. With precise strikes and nimble footwork, she fended off the Crawlers while channeling sparks of lightning through her sword, electrifying her attacks.
She used lightning elements in various ways with her blade and even used Blade Energy to improve her projectile lightning blade attacks.
Erix, not one to be outdone, plunged into the fray. His fists glowed with a metallic sheen as he landed powerful blows on the Horses while dodging and even deflecting their charges with his punches.
With each punch, his mastery over metal energy increased because he challenged himself to constantly observe and improvise his metal gauntlets while matching his different punches.
Moreover, he also shaped metal shards into shields and projectiles, further aiding their battle.
A small number of people, ideally one or two, fighting in a large group of monsters was always fun and thrilling as they set out to improve themselves.
Erix and Rin would dodge attacks to let the monsters hit each other, create blind spots, and slaughter them with their cunning combat tactics and powers.
After killing the horde in half an hour, Erix and Rin reached level 86.
Their physical stats perfectly reached 210-215 each after killing over fifty Aqua Current Horses.
After harvesting their cores, they flew deeper to find more hordes of monsters and continue their training while dancing with dangers, for their paths lay amidst the dangers and how they would overcome them to improve.
Flying for five minutes, they encountered another horde of monsters.
A group of giant Earth Spitting Crabs at levels 95-99.
The crabs were tough bastards with extremely high defense, and although they didn't have long-range attacks, they had deadly melee pincer attacks with lightning-fast reflexes.
Rin and Erix were mainly melee, so the pincers troubled them.
Five minutes passed, but they only managed to kill two crabs, and their numbers were whooping thirty-two.
Since the crabs were coming out of a huge river stream, the duo also speculated that more crabs might come from the river.
Both of them retreated to strategize.
"Erix, we can't waste time like this. We have to improvise enough to kill these crabs with one or two attacks," Rin said while trying to think of some idea.
"Their defenses are annoying, but let's try something…" Erix revved his brain and consumed 10 points of mana to create a whiteish-dark blue metal drill.
"This new metal works best with drills and can conduct with lightning. And now...here's a thing I just achieved this morning in our Limitless Plane session."
Erix closed his eyes as he stretched his hand forward before opening it as a palm. There was a piece of small ore on his palm, Voltium Ore, a Tier-2 metal material.
'I should be able to do this,' Erix thought as he used all the knowledge he received from the ten days he attended in Magsmith classes to create a weapon just like the one he used this morning.
He consumed 100 mana points that transformed into metal energy with his metal affinity and designed another object with a magic formation as black meteoric particles gathered on his palm around the piece of ore.
Five seconds later, the piece of ore combined with his designed metal and started stretching like a katana's blade.
Another five seconds later, Erix's hand held a pitch-black katana with dark silver and blueish purple.
"Wow, you can do something like this now?" Rin was amazed.
"Since this morning, yes," Erix grinned.
"I don't know why it says Fake Tier-2, but it is indeed weaker than uncommon normal Tier-2 items we saw in the shop."
Rin's eyes sparkled as she inspected the sword.
"This is awesome, Erix!"
