Chapter 71
Rebecca’s eyes go wide.
“Huh?”
Hm? Did she somehow not understand what I just said? Or is she just playing dumb with me?
“Savior?”
“Yup, that’s right. Thank goodness. It looks like you did understand.”
“But what do you mean by that?”
“Hmm, let’s see…. For starters, I’ll have you be my eyes and ears in this place. I want you to listen to what the inhabitants of this village have to say and pass that information along to me.”
“That’s it?”
“Obviously not. But that’s all I need from you at present.”
It seems that Rebecca has yet to understand my intentions. Though, she seems like a clever enough girl. I’m sure she’ll figure them out sooner or later.
But for now, I’d really like to get away from this place….. but how?
Transportation magic…. is an option….. but I’ve never tested it on a human being before. Is it okay to use on living things?
Plus, I’m won’t be just moving myself, but attempting to teleport four people in total…. I’m not so sure it’s a good idea to try something of that magnitude all of a sudden.
In the first place, forget the others, is it even possible to teleport myself somewhere else….?
But there doesn’t seem to be any other way to get out of the plaza…. I guess I’ll just have to make it work.
However, what happens once we do get away? If the teleportation works and we make it to Grandpa Will’s house, if the people here find us and try to force their way in, then that rundown little house doesn’t stand a chance. It’ll likely collapse in on us.
…..But if I take down this barrier, and cast it around Grandpa Will’s house after we’ve safely transported there, then everything should be fine.
Good. This should work. Thank goodness I managed to acquire the level 80 transportation spell. And as a special privilege for reaching level 80, I’ve now also acquired the ability to cast two spells simultaneously. Just one good thing after another it seems.
“Alicia, what are we going to do now?”
“Oh Gilles, there’s no need for you to look so worried. Just leave everything to me.”
Ooh! I sounded just like a villainess. So poised… so confident and imperious. ‘Leave everything to me.’ I can’t believe I finally got the chance to say something like that. What a villainessy remark. It was so satisfying….! Ahhh, I’m getting butterflies. My delivery was sheer perfection, too! I’m amazed at how well that line suits me.
Ever since I saw it in a biography of a famous witch who had been the scourge of this kingdom in the past, I was completely enamored by it. And to think I’d be able to use it so soon! Turns out that it’s a pretty versatile phrase.
“Gilles, Grandpa Will, Rebecca. This might be a bit uncomfortable, but just try to bear with it for a bit.”
I snap my fingers and as I do, the barrier around the fountain dissipates. At the same time my three companions and I all disappear and reappear in front of an old, dilapidated house.
….I did it. This is definitely Grandpa Will’s house. Am I really a genius after all?
“Woah…..”
“This is our house!”
“Oh ho, quite impressive.”
The three say while dumbfoundedly looking about their new surroundings.
Those surprised expressions…. are the best! Go ahead. Praise me more. I won’t mind.
“Where did they go?”
“Isn’t that Will’s house?”
“Follow them!!”
I hear the rest of the people who had been hanging around the plaza yelling out in confusion.
Ah right, I almost forgot.
Snap.
I put up the magical barrier once more, this time encircling Grandpa Will’s house. With this, I don’t have to worry about it collapsing when that mob of people get here.
“Alicia, just who are…… Oof!”
Before Rebecca has the chance to finish speaking, I once again send a punch slamming into her gut.
From now on, I have some serious matters that I need to discuss with Gilles so I’ll just have her take another little nap. It would be bad if she listened in on our conversation after all.
Sure, to some people it might seem a bit inhumane to prevent eavesdropping in such a manner, but I’m a villainess. That sort of cruelty is just good business in my line of work.
As Rebecca topples forward, I make sure to catch her before she falls. I easily pick her up again and bring her inside, tucking her in nice and cozily into Grandpa Will’s bed.
……Oh, wait. Come to think of it, I also know a spell for putting people to sleep. Instead of hitting her hard enough to knock her out, it would have been better had I just used that…..
I can’t believe I only remembered that now. It’s a bit late at this point.
Sorry about that, Rebecca.
T/N: Poor Rebecca. If this “memory failure” is going to be a regular thing for Alicia, I think she should start doing some ab training haha. If she flexes at the right time, I don’t think it’ll hurt as much, and then maybe our little villainess will remember that there’s a better way to handle these sorts of things XD
