Chapter 272 : Uncovering Secrets
Other than the extraction of rare minerals and farming done by Commoners, there wasn\'t much to buy or sell in this world that didn\'t involve Magical Beasts. What if all of the Magical Beasts were killed? Then what?
Well, I guess with the World spawning them that can\'t really happen. William thought to himself.
He remembered the Livingwood Forest before he absorbed the Life Veins.
It was a very calm place, and William had encountered his first Magical Beast there; a Liffox in the Qi Refinement Realm. With little strength at the time, William had almost spent his entire Mana Reserve during that fight.
It was hilarious to think about, now that he had just killed the clone of one of the most powerful Cultivators in the World.
Before William absorbed the first Life Vein, there probably weren\'t that many Liffox. He remembered how Jenny was surprised when he described a Wind Wolf to her, and his mother didn\'t believe him when he said he fought with a Magical Beast.
But after absorbing only a single Life Vein, the number of Magical Beasts increased dramatically. His next few visits to the Forest, he was met by more and more Liffox and even a few Wind Wolves.
By the time the final Life Vein was absorbed, he remembered the System notification that said "the Forest is angry", which led to a Tide of dozens or even hundreds of Magical Beasts!
I wonder... if the World creates the Magical Beasts, but it doesn\'t do so until the World Cores are absorbed, does that mean...?
-Request requires 1.5 million Potential Points. Yes/No?
Ha, I have a better idea.
William stopped chasing down the remainder of the Beasts present on the battlefield and returned to one of the corpses that was most intact. It was a Sandicore, which had been pierced through the heart by one of his arrows.
Before storing it in his Space Ring, William used the System to upgrade his Vision Talent. It was just a hunch, but he wanted to try something out.
If my guess is right, my Vision could be improved every upgrade.
The System accepted 250 Potential Points as payment, then instantly upgraded the Vision Talent to A-Rank. Since it was a Passive Talent, the upgrades were always very swift other than the time it took for him to adjust.
He didn\'t stop to check the effects and kept upgrading the Talent until he was able to inspect the body of the Magical Beast more closely.
He upgraded his Vision to S-Rank, which allowed him to even inspect the smallest cuts with great precision, as if he was using a magnifying glass to look at the Beast\'s hide.
Still not enough, again!

William\'s vision improved even further, allowing him to even see the details of human skin. He couldn\'t quite see down to their cells and tissues, but he could tell that he was getting close.
Ugh, it\'s not enough. Give me what I want System, upgrade it again!
It was an expensive upgrade, but William had earned more than that amount just from killing the Beast Tide. Not only that, but upgrading his Vision Talent would be much cheaper than the System\'s requirements.

William didn\'t check the System messages just yet, but he could tell that his vision had quadrupled in strength.
With the four times increase in William\'s vision, he was finally able to see what he wanted. He took an even closer look at the Magical Beast\'s hide, seeing the individual skin tissues and sensing something unique that felt familiar, though he couldn\'t quite place where it had come from.
William pulled back temporarily, finding that using his vision to the maximum in such a way was somewhat taxing on his mind. He blinked a few times to rest his eyes, but when he opened them, the World had changed.
He looked at the Magical Beast, but its body was a light blue slowly turning purple. Only then did William look at the System panel to check the effects of his new Vision Talent.
But the System panel wasn\'t there!
Shit, what do I do? William used his Mind Talent to replay his memories, hoping that he had at least glanced at the panel.
I did! Right here! The SSR-Rank Talent said blink three times quickly. Okay.
William blinked three times, but when his vision changed, it wasn\'t anything like what he had seen before. The ground completely disappeared, and there was no longer any trace of life, as if they had just disappeared.
William only saw the Sandicore, since he was standing over it, but something was weird. He clearly remembered that it was missing a heart.
So why is it still alive! William exclaimed in his mind as the Sandicore performed a soundless roar. Something about its aura told William that he wasn\'t as invincible in this state as usual, as if it could seriously injure him if he wasn\'t careful.
He blinked three times to go back to the other mode, but his vision changed a third time. Everything about the World returned to normal, but wherever William looked, he saw tiny blue lines spreading out from every Cultivator and even a few commoners in villages a hundred kilometers away.
He looked down at the Sandicore corpse, which showed wisps of Mana leaking out that was the same feeling he got when looking closely at the Beast\'s cells, but much stronger this time.
This is... just like the Tribulations! William exclaimed.
A few puzzle pieces clicked together in William\'s mind as he answered one of his questions about the World.
The Magical Beasts aren\'t made by Efretta, they\'re constructed by the Heavens!
