Chapter 136 - 136: 135 How do you know

As MO Xiuchen’s deep voice seeped from his thin lips, he shifted slightly to one side, his handsome features shadowed, making them even more striking and three-dimensional.

“Why do you want to find that worker now, wasn’t that an accident?” The laziness in Qin Mu’s words faded, replaced by a hint of doubt.

“Hmm, I suspect it wasn’t a mere accident, it could have been a deliberate act.

Find that worker as soon as possible.”

Qin Mu did not question MO Xiuchen’s suspicions. Recently, one incident followed another, all interlinked. It seems that ever since MO Xiuchen got married, Xiao Wenqing has been acting rather anxiously.

When MO Xiuchen returned to the shop after the call, Wen Ran’s bowl of beef noodles had been almost emptied. She was spooning up the soup, her gaze reflecting an enjoyment of the delicious taste. If one didn’t know that she was eating beef noodles, they would think she was savouring some exotic delicacy.

Noticing his long legs out of the corner of her eye, Wen Ran looked up at him.

Her mouth was stained with soup, her eyes sparkled with satisfaction. She asked nonchalantly, “Why did you take so long on the phone?”

MO Xiuchen’s deep gaze landed on the corner of her soup-stained lips. Without speaking, he bent down, took out a tissue, and wiped her mouth. His magnetic voice was tinged with affection: “How did you manage to get soup all over your mouth?”

The minute MO Xiuchen stepped into the restaurant, the attention of the diners shifted to him. Now, under their watchful eyes, he delicately and leisurely wiped Wen Ran’s mouth. His actions were so graceful, they dazzled and broke the hearts of the admiring female onlookers.

Wen Ran, unaware that other women were eyeing her husband while she was drinking her soup, looked up at MO Xiuchen. Even though she couldn’t see all the gazes, she could feel them.

She didn’t think she was as thick-skinned as MO Xiuchen. Her fair face, which hadn’t shown any reaction despite eating a large bowl of spicy noodles, turned as red as a tomato due to MO Xiuchen’s considerate actions.

“I can do it myself.”

She avoided his gentle gaze and hastily reached for the tissue in his hand.

MO Xiuchen smiled slightly, reached out with his other hand, directly grabbed her small hand, and sat down. He leaned over her, his warm breath caressing her flushed face. He whispered, “Stay still, let me clean it up for you.”

Wen Ran frowned slightly, but dared not move again.

Her heart, however, beat uncontrollably.

MO Xiuchen was patient, his movements soft and slow. After he cleaned her mouth, he threw the tissue into the trash can under his feet. He still held onto Wen Ran’s hand, his deep gaze fixed on her. His low magnetic voice contained a hint of regret:

“Ran Ran, I’ve already called Little Liu. He’ll be here soon. He can take you back to the office. I’ll stay at the hospital and wait until he wakes up.”

Wen Ran replied indifferently, “It’s no problem, I can return to the office by myself. Since you’re here, why don’t you have lunch before returning to the hospital? There are a few more restaurants nearby. You can tell me what you want, and I’ll go buy it.”

Was it his tenderness that had muddled her, or was she simply too kind-hearted to make him eat another bowl of beef noodles? Wen Ran glanced at the bowl of beef noodles in front of him and said, “Pack this up for Older Brother Gu. He likes it.”

“How do you know he likes this?”

There was a hint of confusion in MO Xiuchen’s gentle gaze, he fixed his gaze deeply on Wen Ran. He knew that Wen Ran and Gu Kai were close, but he didn’t know when they had become so familiar with each other.

Wen Ran smiled brilliantly and said, “He told me the night we were eating barbecue and waiting for you. We talked about food.”

MO Xiuchen responded with a nod, just about to tell her not to take the noodles to Gu Kai, when he saw Little Liu enter from the front door.

“Young Master, Young Mistress!”

Little Liu walked up to MO Xiuchen and Wen Ran, called out cheerfully, sniffed the scent of the beef noodles, and without waiting for a response, asked, “Young Master, is this bowl of beef noodles especially for me?”

Wen Ran blinked, her eyes moving between MO Xiuchen and Little Liu before looking at MO Xiuchen again as if something had clicked.

MO Xiuchen smiled, stood up holding her hand, and said, “Little Liu, you eat here. Ran Ran and I will go to another restaurant to eat, and then you can take Ran Ran back to the office.”

Under the envious gazes of everyone, MO Xiuchen led Wen Ran out of the noodle shop and walked towards the restaurant next door.

MO Jingteng’s surgery was successful, and Director Gu advised that he needed to rest properly for the time being.

MO Xiuchen hadn’t visited him at the hospital for three consecutive days, instead, he was busy with the commercial trade building project. Xiao Wenqing also did not visit the hospital for unknown reasons.

Only MO Zixuan visited hospital at least once a day. MO Jingteng’s hospitalization had kept him sober these days, he ran between the company, home, and hospital.

One morning, as soon as MO Xiuchen finished a meeting, he received a call from Director Gu asking him to come to the hospital.

When MO Xiuchen arrived, Gu Kai was waiting for him in the hospital lobby. Director Gu did not elaborate on the phone, he only mentioned that it was regarding his father’s health. In confusion, MO Xiuchen asked, “Did Uncle Gu call me here because there’s some problem with my dad’s health, or does he have some other illness?”

Nearby, a nurse greeted Gu Kai, he nodded slightly and said blandly, “Let’s talk in mv father’s office first. Even he only discovered it today, and we’re still not sure about the specifics.”

MO Xiuchen’s expression turned somber at Gu Kai’s words.

Something about Gu Kai’s words sent an inexplicable worry through him.

Seeing his furrowed brow, Gu Kai reassuringly patted his shoulder, his tone light as he said, “You don’t have to be so nervous. Uncle MO isn’t seriously ill. The reason we called you to come to the hospital is not just my father’s decision, but also your father’s.”

At this, Gu Kai turned to look at MO Xiuchen inquisitively, asking, “What’s going on with you? No matter how strained your relationship is with your father, you wouldn’t be completely indifferent when he’s hospitalized. On top of that, I heard that the day he fainted was because of an argument with you?”

“It’s nothing!”

The tone of MO Xiuchen’s reply was harsh.

Even though Wen Ran wasn’t Gu Kai’s sister, Gu Kai was unusually concerned about her now. MO Xiuchen didn’t know how to tell him that his father might’ve been involved in drugging the shark fin soup. He decided to tell Gu Kai later when things were confirmed.

Gu Kai knit his good-looking brows, put down his arm that was resting on MO Xiuchen’s shoulder, and said disbelievingly, “Xiuchen, you must be hiding something from me. If you don’t want to talk about it now, it’s okay..”
