Chapter 162 - 162: 161 Heaven will look after her

It was the first time she woke up while MO Xiuchen was still fast asleep.

She carefully removed his large hand embracing her waist, smiled gently at his handsome, serene face, dressed, and quietly left the master bedroom.

An hour later, MO Xiuchen awakened. When he reached over and found the other side of the bed empty, his eyes flashed with confusion. Judging by the temperature of the sheets, Wen Ran had been up for quite a while.

The door to the master bedroom opened from outside, and bright light poured in with Wen Ran’s entrance. Her soft, joyful voice filled the room, “MO Xiuchen, you woke up just in time for breakfast!”

A smile perked at the corners of MO Xiuchen’s eyebrows, and he asked, “Did you get up to make breakfast?”

“Yes, I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I just went down to help make breakfast.

What do you want to wear? I’ll get it for you.”

Even as Wen Ran spoke, she had already walked to the bed. Her twinkling eyes scanned over MO Xiuchen’s fit and sexy torso, then headed towards the wardrobe.

“Whatever you like, you choose for me!”

MO Xiuchen replied cheerfully. His profound eyes stayed locked on Wen Ran. As long as she was within his sight, he felt at ease.

Having her make breakfast and choose clothes for him were things he didn’t dare dream of for the past twenty-odd years. Even when her family faced difficulties and he was forcing her to marry him under the pretext of helping her father’s company, he hadn’t envisioned her treating him with such genuine affection.

Men’s clothes are not like women’s, with countless dazzling designs. MO Xiuchen’s wardrobe consisted mostly of shirts and suits for work.

Even the colors were limited to just two or three.

Choosing an outfit did not pose a challenge to Wen Ran. She quickly selected an ensemble for him. As she watched, MO Xiuchen dressed adeptly, and she helped him straighten his tie. In a few minutes, she had transformed him from a man who had just woken up, exuding casual sexiness, to a majestic and charismatic figure.

His every gesture radiated an air of nobility and elegance.

“So handsome!”

Wen Ran’s words of praise spilled from her red lips without restraint. The corners of MO Xiuchen’s mouth curled up in a hint of proud laughter. Being praised by his woman was a pleasantly delightful thing.

He captured her hand and held it in his, asking playfully, “Your husband is so handsome, don’t you want to look at him every second?”

Wen Ran was momentarily taken aback by his question. She blinked in surprise, “Although I don’t look at you every second, we’re together every day and night. Being able to see you for at least half the day is already very satisfying. ”

A slight smile graced MO Xiuchen’s lips as he seductively spoke, “Ranran, once your brother is discharged from the hospital, you should quit your job and come work for me as my personal secretary. That way, you can keep a close eye on me 24/7 and not worry about your handsome husband being eyed by other women.”

“Pfft! ”

The hilarity of MO Xiuchen’s words was too much, causing Wen Ran to burst into laughter. Her clear, vibrant eyes shined with amusement, and her slightly curved eyebrows added an indescribable charm to her looks.

“A single glance won’t take a bite out of you. Unless I lock you up at home 24/7, how can I ensure that no other women look at you?”

“If you’re with me, no one else will look at me.”

MO Xiuchen extended his arm and wrapped it around Wen Ran’s slender waist. They descended the stairs together while engaging in light banter. In the living room, Nanny Zhang saw them coming down and greeted them with a radiant smile.

She also told MO Xiuchen that the breakfast was prepared solely by Wen Ran, and she had not been of any help.

Hearing Nanny Zhang’s words, MO Xiuchen tenderly stared at the woman in his embrace, “Ranran, you’ve worked hard.”

“It’s nothing, I didn’t make breakfast just for you. I made more because I plan to bring some to my brother later.”

While Wen Ran spoke with a playful grin, MO Xiuchen was looking at her with soft, tender eyes. The blush on her cheeks deepened in front of Nanny Zhang.

In the hospital room.

Wen Ran took the breakfast out of the thermos box and handed it to Wen Jin lying on the hospital bed.

She had intentionally called Auntie Li in the morning and told her not to bring breakfast for Wen Jin, as she would be delivering it herself.

While eating, Wen Jin expressed his astonishment in a remorseful tone, “I never imagined that I would one day be able to enjoy a breakfast cooked by Ranran. If I had known about your talent earlier, I would have sent you to learn cooking a long time ago.”

Wen Ran playfully glared at him, “Cooking should only be intermittently demonstrated. If it’s done every day, it would become annoying.”

After some idle chatter, Wen Ran disclosed the truth about Cheng Jia not being the person who saved MO Xiuchen’s life to Wen Jin, “Brother, Cheng Jia said yesterday that the little girl who saved MO Xiuchen years ago is now dead.”

“Cheng Jia was talking nonsense.”

Without a second thought, Wen Jin retorted. Realizing something, his eyes flickered, and he avoided Wen Ran’s gaze. Lowering his head, he continued with his porridge.

A flicker of surprise flashed through Wen Ran’s eyes as she looked at him in bewilderment, “Brother, how can you be so sure that Cheng Jia was talking nonsense?”

Wen Jin looked up at her again, his expression calm and indifferent. He responded, “Think about it, Cheng Jia pretended to be MO Xiuchen’s life savior only to gain a chance to win his affection and become the Young Mistress of the MO family. As you just said, it was Xiao Wenqing who instigated her.”

Wen Ran was still confused, looking at Wen Jin quizzically, “Right, Xiao Wenqing instigated her. The person who said that the little girl was gone, was also Xiao Wenqing. He was so confident in letting Cheng Jia appear ten years later, I’m thinking, could it be possible that the little girl is really not here anymore.”

If that little girl wasn’t dead, then why had MO Xiuchen been unable to find her?

Seeing Wen Ran’s predicament, Wen Jin gently stroked her hair, offering comforting words, “That’s not the case. Just because MO Xiuchen couldn’t find her, doesn’t mean she’s gone.”

Wen Ran forced a smile, “I hope so.”

Wen Jin managed a faint smile, put the bowl of finished porridge on the bedside table, and whispered soothingly, “Good people will be rewarded for their deeds, so don’t worry. The little girl with such a kind heart will surely be blessed by heaven.”

Wen Ran nodded her head earnestly. She sincerely hoped that MO Xiuchen would find that girl soon and fulfill his long-held wish.

Wen Ran didn’t stay long in the hospital room. After accompanying Wen Jin for breakfast, she washed up the dishes, reminded her brother to rest well, and then rushed to work.

“Be careful while driving, and call me when you reach the office.”

Wen Jin softly reminded her. Wen Ran nodded with a smile, “Brother, don’t worry. I’ll be super careful when driving.”

After Wen Ran left, Wen Jin was left alone in the hospital room.

He didn’t immediately call for the special nursing assistant. Instead, he leaned quietly against the headboard. Perhaps the room was too silent, his thoughts began to drift, and memories of the past resurfaced in his mind like a
