Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 497: 496 is Mo Xiuchen

Bai Xiaoxiao distanced herself from Wen Ran, scrutinizing her pale face under the gentle indoor light, her eyes flashing with confusion.

Wen Ran pursed her lips, met Bai Xiaoxiao’s questioning gaze, and suddenly didn’t know how to start.

From the dream she just had, she remembered everything she had forgotten about her childhood, including her being hypnotized by an old man to forget that memory.

It turns out that her brother had lied to her. She didn’t forget that memory on her own. Her father, who had raised her for over a decade, couldn’t bear to see her tormented by her past and living in fear, so he found someone to hypnotize her into forgetting it!

That night, after she let Mo Xiuchen go, she was caught and brought back. From then onwards, not even the occasional kindness from Fu Jingyi, existed.

He no longer lied to make her take medicine, or told her she was sick and need injections to get better. Instead, he cruelly told her that he had stolen her from her own parents.

He said, “Girl, you live to repay your parents’ debts, to serve as my experimental subject. I did not raise you all these years for nothing.”

“Once you’ve tried my latest medicines, I’ll start operating on you.”

“You’re a devil, a bad person!”

Wen Ran trembled as she looked at Fu Jingyi in horror. When she refused to take medication, he would forcibly feed it to her. When she resisted injections, he would have others hold her down.

“Do you know the effects of the injections? They work synergistically with the medicine you’ve taken. You are too young to understand, ha-ha… In a few years, I will let you try another type of medicine, one that can turn you into a depraved woman… Don’t be afraid, you won’t be a normal woman when you grow up anyway.”

“Even if you have many men, you wouldn’t have to worry about pregnancy. Then I will pick a husband for you. You won’t have to love him, because once you fall in love with him, you will be the one to get hurt in the end. He will be the one to neutralize the poison for you…”

Thinking of Fu Jingyi’s words, Wen Ran’s momentarily calm eyes filled with chaos again. Her small face went paler than before. Feeling her cold hand, Bai Xiaoxiao worriedly called out, “Ranran, what’s wrong with you?”

Wen Ran shook her head. In her panicked eyes, a trace of confusion and struggle flickered.

“I’m fine.”

Her voice was trembling.

Suddenly, her phone beeped twice as a new message came in.

Bai Xiaoxiao glanced at the phone on the bedside table and said softly, “Ranran, you’ve got a message.”

Wanting to divert the subject so she would stop thinking about the nightmare, Bai Xiaoxiao, who was lying outside, reached over to get Wen Ran’s phone, “It’s a message from Mo Xiuchen.”

Upon hearing these words, Wen Ran’s face changed.

“Don’t look.”

She suddenly stopped her, her voice filled with a hint of fear and sharpness.

Bai Xiaoxiao looked at her in surprise. Wen Ran reached over for the phone in Bai Xiaoxiao’s hand and decisively pressed the power button.

“…”

Bai Xiaoxiao opened her mouth but said nothing.

“Xiaoxiao, I’m going to the bathroom. You go to sleep.”

Wen Ran got out of bed and went into the bathroom.

Watching the bathroom door close, Bai Xiaoxiao had no idea what was going on inside. After pondering for a bit, she picked up her own phone and sent a text message to Mo Xiuchen: “Ranran just had a nightmare. She said it wasn’t a dream, but her childhood. She didn’t see your message and turned off her phone impulsively.”

Mo Xiuchen was conflicted.

On one hand, he hoped Wen Ran would respond to his message, but on the other, he hoped that she was already asleep and hadn’t seen the message.

Yet, in his heart, he was still expectant.

When the message alert came, his heart skipped a beat and his eyes lit up, thinking Ranran had sent him a message.

But once he saw the screen and noticed it was Bai Xiaoxiao, his deep eyes instantly dimmed.

After reading the message, a complex expression crossed Mo Xiuchen’s handsome features. His gaze lingered on the message, reading it over and over again, thinking carefully about what Bai Xiaoxiao’s text could mean.

Ranran had a nightmare, but it wasn’t a simple dream. She said it was her childhood. It could be different from the dream she had before.

Because she turned off her phone impulsively, even ignoring his message.

What exactly did she dream of? The image of her looking scared and helpless appeared before him. His heart suddenly clenched and he got out of bed, picked up his car keys, and left the room in his pyjamas.

On the roads of early dawn, there were hardly any cars. He drove fast, the urgency to see Wen Ran growing within him.

Wen Family

In the bathroom, Wen Ran didn’t necessarily need to use the restroom.

She leaned her slender body against the cold marble wall, her gaze blankly staring at the ceiling. Under the cold light, her pale face looked as if it had lost its soul.

The nightmare she had just had was too terrifying. She didn’t dare to think about it, nor did she want to.

She wanted to empty her mind, think about nothing, so she couldn’t be sad or heartbroken.

After an unknown stretch of time, Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice came from outside, bringing her back to reality. After a pause, she pushed the door and came out.

Bai Xiaoxiao sat on the bed, looking worriedly at her, “Ranran, why did you take so long?”

Wen Ran forced a smile, “Why aren’t you asleep yet? Didn’t I tell you to go to sleep first?”

Bai Xiaoxiao stared at her for a few seconds, didn’t notice any traces of her crying, and felt a bit relieved. She smiled slightly, “I’m waiting for you. If you don’t come out, I can’t sleep.”

“Want some water? I’ll pour it for you.”

Wen Ran’s eyes scanned the thermos cup on the side table, walked over, poured two cups, brought them to the bedside, and handed one to Bai Xiaoxiao.

“Thank you!”

Bai Xiaoxiao took the cup, gave a smile, drained the water in one go, and handed the cup back to her.

“Want more?” Wen Ran asked. She only drank half of her cup.

“If I drink again, I’ll need to use the toilet!” Bai Xiaoxiao jokingly said. Wen Ran put the cup back on the coffee table, returned to the bedside, and asked her if she needed to use the bathroom. She could help her!

“No, I don’t need to. I don’t have a habit of getting up during the night. We should hurry up and sleep. If we don’t sleep now, we’ll have dark circles under our eyes tomorrow.”

Bai Xiaoxiao patted the spot next to her on the bed. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, although Ranran seemed calm, she felt that she was somewhat different.

Wen Ran nodded and silently climbed into bed.

Lying in bed, she didn’t feel tired at all. Soon, Bai Xiaoxiao’s breathing became steady. Ten minutes later, Bai Xiaoxiao’s phone started to vibrate and then rang.

Just as Wen Ran was about to sit up and see who was calling, Bai Xiaoxiao woke up. She reached for her phone, squinted at the screen and drowsily said, “Ranran, it’s Mo Xiuchen calling.”

“Hello, Mo Xiuchen!”

Before Wen Ran could stop her, she had already quickly answered the call!
